The song is about real historical person from 16th century - Veronika Desinićka. She was the first woman in Slovenia accused of being a witch and murdered by drowning on the order of count Herman of Celje who happened to be her father in law.
I am from Slovenia and our songs are usually really bad because for some reason artists are obsessed with copying American artists.. so I'm really happy when some original artists come onstage that are not scared to 'just' be Slovenes and true to themselves
Slovenia usually picks their representatives through a national selection - 2024 is the second year in the last 10 where their act is selected internally - the first occasion was in 2021, but this was because the contest was cancelled due to COVID in 2020, they just sent the person who won the selection before the cancelled contest. Fun fact is that Raiven actually tried representing Slovenia 3 times in the past - in 2016 (Ćrno-bel), in 2017 (Zažarim) and 2019 (Kaos) (You should check them out, outstanding performances!!). She always finished in the top 3, but never won. So excited to see her perform in Sweden!
