My cousin has a Scammell crusader they were badged as Leylands in Australia 8v71 Detroit it's got a 15 overdrive road ranger in it now and a Jake brake he's still using it on the farm my uncle bought it with very low km from a sugar company in the 80s my uncle did some good modifications with power steering box dual stack's air can's headache rack even air con and suspension seats it had primary producers rego until a couple of years ago I've driven American European Japanese trucks that old banger is by far my favourite truck
Be better if it was only british trucks.Too many American trucks in that lot.I spent a lot of time in a Bedford TK with my dad when I was a kid so I'm grateful for you showing one of them at least.Thank you.
The trucks that were the first road trains in Australia were all from England dad had Leylands until the early 70s then got N series Volvo's until the late 90s the best road train in Australia was a Atkinson twin steer tri drive with a 34 ft tray double decker cattle creat and 3x 45 ft hallmark double decker trailer's
Modern trucks, "durable"? Not a Euro 6 Mercedes Atego. The older Daf 85 CF cab had a better driving position than the later one post 2002. The Foden badged ones were fantastic with Cat or Cummins engines.
The first lorry I drove was a Ford D series, and that was on log books,
A Video on Scammel would be good.
