And the girl with the leg pain should not have waited a year before demanding that doctors that she paid to see actually provided her the care she needed. It’s a shame doctors don’t just do that on their own but if you feel you aren’t being heard you have to speak up health care isn’t even free in this country so you should definitely get what you need.
@@jaebyrd4608 Unfortunately health care for women in the U.S. is really shitty. I’m not surprised that it took her so long to get a proper diagnoses. Doctors dismiss women’s pain quite often because of how lacking women’s health research is in comparison to men’s. Most doctors still insist that women don’t need any form of anesthetic when they get an IUD, even though it’s extremely invasive and painful to get anything shoved into your body. And it’s not like she didn’t try to advocate for herself. She said she went to several doctors in her pursuit to figure out what was wrong with her. Doctors should be expected to conduct an actual, thorough screening if the patient reports pain the first time. It’s not her fault that several doctors failed her.
The fact that Alec actually followed her into the police station... Usually, based on a lot of stories I've heard, pulling up in front of a police station drives the perpetrators away.
To the woman with the dress that basically cost a year of her life, I hope she sued the dressmakers and the doctors who dismissed her for every penny they were worth. Seriously, I would have broken down in RAGE.
I went through something similar when I had a ruptured disk in my back and it was pinching a nerve. I began to actually get partial paralysis in my foot from the nerves beginning to deaden until the 4th doctor I went to finally ordered an MRI. I got dismissed by others for almost a year telling me it was muscle, and that it couldn’t be a herniated disk because I didn’t sustain an impact injury-it went out during exercise and “that just doesn’t happen” according to them. But, it turned out I was born with a defect in that part of the spine I was completely unaware of. If lawsuits weren’t so costly and time consuming I’d love to drag a few of them to court. The most enraging thing wasn’t their misdiagnosis, but their arrogance, lack of compassion, and insistence they were right and knew it all while failing to do their job. Chronic pain is no joke, and like the woman in the story I had spells of considering ending my life. Thankfully it was resolved through surgery with nearly 100% relief
7th Story: It's bad enough when people lose their partners at any point of time, but it's just cruel irony to have lost them on the very day you were going to be married. I hope the SOBS responsible for the crash were charged with criminal negligence and manslaughter.
Story 6 left me baffled. If a garment caused me that much pain, left me unable to walk, and to BLEED… I would be making sure I went to the ER that night or at least the next day and tell them exactly when the pain started, and the situation. 🤦🏻 I can’t believe she basically lost a year of her life over that.
Ugh, story 7 is painful… I never thought I’d get married either, but everything changed when I met my current fiancé. 235 days until he’s finally my husband. He recently got a motorcycle, and seeing how happy it makes him warms my heart. I’m so terrified to lose him in an accident though…
@@purplepianoist88 not even a month ago, my man took his motorcycle on one last ride before winter, and when I got a phone call from him I panicked so hard. The drive belt snapped off his bike while he was going 55mph. Thank god he wasn’t hurt!
@katelynmarie836 scary! I'm glad he's okay! My husband did something similar with his car this past month. He called to tell me his car was shuddering and freaking him out and then kept calling every like 10 mins with an update 🙃 every call I expected it to be him saying.his car exploded or a police officer.
I was aggravated when the wedding guests cheered because they didn’t know he was bleeding out for real. Then I was furious when I heard that they were throwing money at the guy. I get it was a spooky theme and was a mistake. But how long does it take to realize something is wrong? They went a bit far 😬😬
I have to believe there was an open bar all through cocktail hour and the dinner/reception itself, too, and the absolutely piss drunk guests had a hard time with reality at that point. Because the alternative, that this room of likely other doc’s and nurses, cheered and watched for 8 long minutes….. nope.

I've been a dedicated listener of this podcast for several years now, and no story has had me as heartbroken as story #7 just made me. How unbelievably tragic.
If it helps, I've tried to find the story online because that story would definitely be a big news headline, and I've found nothing. So there's a real good chance it's completely made up
I don’t think I could look my husband in the face ever again if he destroyed our wedding by turning it into a puke fest because he was useless enough to fail to do the one thing he was supposed to arrange for our wedding, something he himself insisted he did. That to me screams that the rest of our married life would be utterly draining due to his weaponized incompetence. It’s not like he had to cook the food himself, the only thing he needed to do was pick a caterer in a timely manner. And he couldn’t even do that. I would lose all my trust in him.
Same But this chick is no doubt blind as a bat because men like that come with red flags for says and to think she didn't notice any of them BEFORE the wedding?!....
@AnEagleInYourMind the wife is a narcissist for wanting a big wedding But the man who endangered and risked the lives of hundreds of his guests bc his ego couldn’t stand the thought of telling his wife that she was right ISNT?
I'm sorry to hear about the narrator dealing with the creepy dude in Story 3, but God the way she talks about her friends partners and how aggressive she is, like saying she'd punch her friends for giving out her email? I can't imagine wanting to be around someone like that.
Unless I myself give the OK, NO ONE has any right to give my email to a guy I'm not even interested in ( One would think the scene she made at the reception was indication enough). Sure, she was not exactly the nicest person, but she DID NOT deserve that creep trying to make her life hell.
I think it's because our bodies are so much more complicated than men's, with so many reasons why something can be wrong, doctors just give us birth control pills or just ignore us. They're so lazy and/or arrogant to ever think their diagnosis could be wrong.
For real. Or the lack of actual diagnosis that is done in the US. She's complaining of leg pain as a young woman but you're going to hop to arthritis and prescribe pills without even doing an xray?
@@purplepianoist88 Exactly! I read it’s because we’re always dramatic or over react so they just assume it’s nothing and we’re being extra. Poor woman so much of her time wasted on pain she didn’t have to if they just did more

@@Soysauceb4ketchup facts. The bloke doesn't have to like weddings, but to shame others for liking them and furthermore disrespecting her friends' husbands is just a no-go.
The food poisoning story is literally my worst nightmare. I have severe emetophobia, so if I was at that wedding I probably would have died of a heart attack instead of the E. coli. I feel like a loser but that story shook me up more than any has in a while 💀
Oh my gosh, I've had this for years and I didn't know there is a word for it! Literally same, I think I would have died of a panic attack had I been there. I've had a lot of anxiety relatinf to food because I'm so afraid something will make me sick, earlier this year it got so bad I was barely eating at all. You're definitely not the only one, this story shook me up more than any other story on this channel. Thank you for sharing! .
You are not alone!!! The mere mention that someone feels sick makes me panic…and I have kids, so that is FUN 🤦🏼♀️ that story made me sweaty and my heart race.
Same! I have chronic nausea and it's awful. I know the others are far worse in reality but that one made me feel so ill I almost skipped it. I can't even say the V word without feeling sick. You're not a loser at all.
3rd story: Just because OP likes being alone doesn't mean they have the right to call their friends' bfs "mundane losers". That's just rude and they sound like an insufferable person.
She sounds insufferably arrogant, with the continuous insulting of people who are in relationships and condescending attitude for weddings. Nobody put a gun to her head and dragged her to an event that she knew she was going to hate. As far as the stalking goes, she acts like it's not that big a deal when "Alec" showed up at her home. OP really doesn't sound smart.
I was waiting for them to explain why they believed the husbands to be losers, but they just proceeded on like normal. If you’re gonna mention it, at least explain, or else you’ll end up looking like a loser yourself
That 4th story, with the guy who died while out smoking, had me holding my breath. Dying of compression asphyxiation in a cramped space is on my top 10 list of ways I do not want to die. Poor guy. But also so many preventable mistakes. Not setting down firm boundaries with his friends. Wedging himself into a tiny alley. Not telling anyone where he was going. Bending over in tiny alley. (Geez, I have to remind myself to breathe all over again!) And the guys friends. OMG. They knew he had an addiction and still chose to be his friend - that means shutting up with the unwanted anti-smoking PSAs and letting the man go outside to smoke. I absolutely hate smoking, but I have friends that smoke. I love them more than I hate their habit. They go outside, do their thing, then come back and nothing is said. They already know the dangers of smoking, but do so anyway. Nothing I can say or do will change them. If I want them as friends, and I do, then that's a part of them I have to accept. Sad that his friends refused to accept this part of him.
I know right. You're not his parents and he's not bloody stupid, so shut your damn mouths. It wasn't his smoking that killed him, it was him feeling so ashamed because of his friends that killed him. And the reasoning was so dumb as well, like how about you just let people smoke in an area where the kids won't be allowed? I think it wasn't even about them but a stupid, smartass way to teach the poor guy a lesson, like "it's us or the cigarettes". Can you tell that story got me worked up lmao
Story 3 had me emotionally invested, because my wife had a similar experience with an ex. Pretty much everything except the hard drugs was the same. It hurts me to think about what she went through which is why I do everything I can to make her feel safe and loved.
7. My heart breaks for him. I pray that someday he will be able to find love. This was one of the most horrifying in a different way story I have heard and so sad.
As someone with emetophobia the food poisoning story was something out of a nightmare for me. That must have been a horrific scene. I wonder how and by whom that was cleaned up. The last story was absolutely heartbreaking and I'm hoping that man heals and gives himself another chance.
OP of story 5 sounds like a complete tool. Maybe don't marry someone if you can't be assed to do your share of wedding planning and don't even respect your partner enough to own up to it.
You should never have married her if she's such a controlling person and putting him down. I would have backed out when she didn't want to sleep with him for the first year.
Those stories, those people have suffered and for them to tell it! And to still be pushing forward, rather they choose to believe it or not! They've moved on with their lives, by inspiring others to not give up! My heart goes out to each of them, and I hope they do find happiness, especially the guy at the end!

Should a family member or friend invite me to one of the most important celebrations in his/her life and I got food poisoning, that would suck for sure. It would remain just that, a shitty situation. I’d not want to forever alienate myself from him/her with a lawsuit. I could’ve just as easily got a stomach virus at the wedding. And man, that food poisoning wasted no time kicking in. It usually took a few hours on the occasions I’ve had it. I didn’t sue the restaurants responsible either.
Last story crushed me. I really want to find this guy and just make life feel livable for him. He doesn’t even need to date but feelings like that shouldn’t be reserved for a single good human being here on this earth
Imagine inviting people to your wedding who are such fake friends that they sue you because of food poisoning. Yes I get it was severe, but I gave my friends food poisoning once with bad brownies and eve ronde did they think to sue me.
There's a difference between ecoli and simple food poisoning. Ecoli can be deadly and some of those people had to stay in the hospital for days. Hospitals are expensive. I'd sue too. No way am I paying insurance premiums just because my friend's ego almost killed me. In fact, I don't think I would even consider them a friend anymore.
It's a fake friend who is careless enough to hire a last-minute wedding caterer who will give you food poisoning in the first place! Cooking food wrong yourself is an accident. Booking a wedding cook when you have had months to prepare and plan and review is pretty negligent. The guy telling the story himself admits he was a sloppy ass about it. Otherwise, it would have been solely the caterer's fault.
Yes, I was wondering like, my friends and family that love me would know it was a mistake and would never sue me for that. I am not just some stranger to sue. Clearly they invited some people that don't care for them. My wedding will be only my closest. Small wedding, but better than big.
Holy sh*t the bridesmaid dress story was actually horrifying because of how scary it is that pure stupidity can lead to something almost permanent. I audibly gasped when she talked about the X-ray. Smh.
My wedding horror story - found out I was pregnant the day after the wedding on our honeymoon and spent the entire time sick in the hotel room with the lights off 😂
My bestie found out she was pregnant a few weeks before her wedding. She couldn’t keep anything down because of morning sickness and her dress was pretty loose on her the day of, and we actually had to pause in the middle of the ceremony so she could go throw up. So it coulda been worse for you I suppose lol. Be glad you were only miserable during the privacy of your honeymoon!
The story about the smoking... Who shamed someone so badly that they WEDGE themselves in a tiny, deadly hidden area just to have a smoke? Jesus... And HOW do you NOT feel 3 inch long needles stabbing into your skin, enough to stop and look?
I explained in another comment that she probably had enough fat in her legs to prevent her from really noticing. I know she said she lost 80 pounds prior to that, but she could still have enough fat there to not notice them in her legs.
The last one, I've thought about the convo I had with my bf earlier today, and it made me cry remembering how I felt thinking I'd lose him even before we get married. This LDR situation we're in is not helping at all. Hope you can move on sooner, man.
Wow what an amazing story. Sober for 9 years what a way to do it. You should be so proud. I know I’ve heard this story before and im sure I commented on the same story before but it’s just an amazing story. Great job! So happy to hear such an inspiring story ❤
17:43 I find it very difficult to believe all the guys her friends try to “set her up with” would see her as such a prize either. There’s a reason she’s single and it’s not because she wants to. Who talks about her supposed “friends” husbands that way, that just shows extreme jealousy and such a narcissistic mindset.
This is the girl in the stalker story? She is legit. People HATE a happily single woman in their orbit, they just gotta get her man-locked as soon as possible, which is why her so-called "friends" never even bothered to vet the idiot they gave her email address to. They just needed to "fix" her by any means necessary. I am a happily-single-by-choice woman and I can't tell you how much some people are straight-up BOTHERED by that, it's a thing.
That person who said if they hadn't shamed Roy for his smoking that he wouldn't have died like that is RIGHT! It IS their fault that he died like that! Had they said hey it's no big deal you can just step right outside the door & have a smoke if & when you feel the need to. Hell, everybody's got a habit, it's just that some of ours are different than others. He would STILL be alive today if they had approached him that way. The very last story is not simply a scary wedding story. It is a horrible, tragic, wedding disaster. My heart goes out to the gentleman who lost his beloved just minutes before she became his bride. I couldn't even begin to know or imagine the amount of painful heartache he has endured bcuz of this horrific tragedy. I pray one day that he may find true love once again & this time it will not be severed by tragedy, but last til they age old together & true nature has taken it's course as it always should be for everyone. Where ever you are Sir, know that you have entered my prayers & I hope for healing & love to come back your way.

I got so excited when I saw this came up as I was about to shower, I’m going to my bridal dress appointment in an hour and my wedding is in a month! Love you LR!! ❤️❤️
The story about the girl with the leg pain seems far fetched to me. I know doctors can be wrong, in fact this happens a lot with chronic illness. However I think it’s very doubtful anyone would be stupid enough to miss that. Also you would feel immediately that it was more serious than just a dress being tight. Also the way needles are placed in the dress it would make this highly unlikely that the needles would be able to penetrate her leg and stay there. She would be screaming out from the pain
Unfortunately it’s more common than you’d think. I used to watch this show called Monsters Inside Me about people who nearly died (or tragically did) from parasites, but sometimes they would feature people who had foreign objects inside of them. Sometimes surgical tools were left inside of people during operations, one person accidentally swallowed a Coke tab and it went inside their lungs, even a construction worker accidentally got a nail hammered into his head in a freak accident and didn’t realize it until he went to the doctor for his “chronic headaches.”

That first story is the most epic wedding story I've ever heard. Sucks that that dude got hurt so badly and they just thought he was just kidding; but big ups to the bride who realized there was something extra going on! Good thing there's a doctor in the house! I swear to God that's the craziest wedding story I've ever heard. If you put it in a movie I'd say it was too cliche.
Gently encouraging someone to stop smoking is not shaming them for smoking. Having a wedding venue where the guests don't want to have smoking around because it smells bad, and irritates the lungs of people who have asthma or other breathing problems, is not unfair. Pointing out the obligation of a friend to be there for a major event for another friend is not bad, it is solid advice because that's what friends do. I know that this will not change anything with the unwarranted guilt that O.P feels, but that fact is that no one forced to Patrice to put the cigarette in his mouth. He actively chose for years to continue to smoke, and he's the one who stepped out because he needed to smoke a cigarette. It is not your fault. And I'm sure if you could talk to your friend, he would tell you that it's not your fault either. It's an unfortunate accident, but one that would have been completely avoided if he didn't actively participate and a harmful activity that he knew was killing him. In this case, it just happened to kill him faster than anyone expected.
Sewing needles are quite thick. How would you not see them? I cannot imagine how putting on a dress with needles in it would completely embed them in the skin either.
Some sewing needles are very fine, especially those for hand- sewing beads and such. I can reach over from where I am sitting and pull out a package of needles hardly thicker than the thread I’m using. And short, too- shortest one I’ve got on me is about an inch and a half long. So yeah, hide enough of those in the details of a dress and someone’s gonna be hurting. And the thing is it could have ended so much worse. Good Lord. 😬
Joel tomorrow my wife and children will be going to the North Carolina mountains for vacation for three weeks and I hope my family will enjoy it. Take care and yes you are my friend and brother. Take care Joel and have a wonderful weekend.
Also, no one's gonna mention the I'm NoT LiKe OtHeR GiRLs case in story 3? I'm only 2 min in and already barfing at the "it's not harsh when you say it like it iiiiis".
I call bs on that story. No way that girl is getting invited to multiple weddings a year. I can't imagine wanting someone with that terrible personality at my wedding.
Story #4 - The characters of this story seemed to regard 'smoking cigarettes' as the same as smoking meth or crack. Why didn't Roy just go to his car to smoke? ...Or at least out to the parking lot or wherever the wedding guests had parked their cars because even if he hadn't taken his own vehicle and had rode with someone else, he could've still smoked beside a car and unless those people were incredibly nosy, no one would've bothered him.
It sounded like she didn't even see one doctor twice. Seeing everyone one time without following up is her own fault. Although I have no idea if that's what happened. 🤷

I had a near identical reaction to that story too 😂
Mobs are idiots dude.
Yeah, really makes you wonder about people sometimes. I am just glad the guy made a full recovery.
I have to believe there was an open bar all through cocktail hour and the dinner/reception itself, too, and the absolutely piss drunk guests had a hard time with reality at that point.

But this chick is no doubt blind as a bat because men like that come with red flags for says and to think she didn't notice any of them BEFORE the wedding?!....

I agree. On top of that, food poisoning can actually kill people instead of just making them sick.
@AnEagleInYourMind are you even remotely aware that food poisoning can kill people? And had people actually died he probably would’ve gone to jail

That one with the needles! I would've sued the hell out of that dress shop!!!
Most certainly..... she also should have gone to the ER ...they would have done x-rays immediately...
@AnEagleInYourMind If you are trying to insult me it didn't work, lol! First of all, who leaves a bunch of needles in a dress, and i highly doubt Americans are the only ones who sue people! @aneagleinyourmind2415if you're referring to the Stella Liebeck case, the coffee was hot enough to melt her pantyhose to her skin and it required skin grafts. McDonald's had been warned many times to lower the temperature of the coffee and Liebeck only sued because McDonald's offered an insultingly low amount of compensation instead of rightfully covering her medical bills.

I have emetophobia as well and that story is literally my worst nightmare. I feel a heart attack coming on just thinking about it lol.
Totally get it, my friend. I had the same problem for years. Still kind of do.
That last story is probably one of the saddest things I’ve ever heard. I can’t imagine the pain. 😞
I'm sobbing. Saddest story I think Joel has ever read.
fr im actually crying from that one...
3rd story: Just because OP likes being alone doesn't mean they have the right to call their friends' bfs "mundane losers". That's just rude and they sound like an insufferable person.
I was thinking the same thing what a miserable life they must have
Yup she sounds hurt lol
She sounds like a miserable selfish woman
She sounds insufferably arrogant, with the continuous insulting of people who are in relationships and condescending attitude for weddings. Nobody put a gun to her head and dragged her to an event that she knew she was going to hate. As far as the stalking goes, she acts like it's not that big a deal when "Alec" showed up at her home. OP really doesn't sound smart.
I was waiting for them to explain why they believed the husbands to be losers, but they just proceeded on like normal. If you’re gonna mention it, at least explain, or else you’ll end up looking like a loser yourself
How does everyone in the first story still think that its still an act after they keep going for 5 minutes and crying on top of that
They were childish at a childish Halloween wedding.
Most of them probably were drinking. Many weddings involve alcohol.
I doubt it was a true story, humans wouldn't go that long without realising it was real....
I know! I was like, “how stupid are these people?”
I know right
That 4th story, with the guy who died while out smoking, had me holding my breath. (Geez, I have to remind myself to breathe all over again!)
And the guys friends.
Well said👏
ONE THOUSAND WAY OF DIE-ING😂🤣
I know right? Good Lord, just let the man smoke.
Yes, as a smoker I've never been badgered by friends or family about it. It is what it is, I found the judginess in this story ridiculous
Story 3 had me emotionally invested, because my wife had a similar experience with an ex. Pretty much everything except the hard drugs was the same. It hurts me to think about what she went through which is why I do everything I can to make her feel safe and loved.
Story 5 is an example of why event insurance is needed.

A Halloween themed weeding sounds cool.
Yes it does , I'd be down for that!
Story 4 is so sad. I can’t imagine dying that way.
Yea, I wondered about that too...I would understand if they even cut the friend out of their lives entirely, but they sued........
Absolutely, it made me wonder what kind of friends and family this people have.
Yes, I was wondering like, my friends and family that love me would know it was a mistake and would never sue me for that. I am not just some stranger to sue. Clearly they invited some people that don't care for them. My wedding will be only my closest. Small wedding, but better than big.
Real talk, Story 1 is downright heartwarming.

This story pissed me off so much.
I'm not as infuriated as I am eith the sheer amount of doctors who failed this woman for A YEAR. Lawsuits all around.
I explained in another comment that she probably had enough fat in her legs to prevent her from really noticing. I know she said she lost 80 pounds prior to that, but she could still have enough fat there to not notice them in her legs.
"find a way to stay and support your friend" that annoyed me so much.
That story was hard to swallow. I can’t imagine how he couldn’t just go out and smoke. Stand in front of the house for crying out loud.

I find it very difficult to believe all the guys her friends try to “set her up with” would see her as such a prize either. There’s a reason she’s single and it’s not because she wants to.
Who talks about her supposed “friends” husbands that way, that just shows extreme jealousy and such a narcissistic mindset.
Chances are she'll grow old and miserable just to die alone. Let bygones be bygones.
I second this.

That stalker one. Now that was terrifying. I felt like I was right there watching it in horror.
These stories are crazy! I cried with the last story. Keep up the amazing work. Love your voice.
So my daughters boyfriend of 5 years is proposing to my daughter tomorrow. Idk if this is perfect timing for this video or not?!? 😂 thanks Joel!
Good Lord. 😬

@@user-oz1ny no not because she doesn't want to be with a man I don't care if she wants to be with a man a woman or by herself you don't punch your friends in the face for making a mistake like giving somebody an email address And she acts like she doesn't like anybody
I don’t know if I’d say “coward,” but they definitely seem insufferable.
The lake wedding was haunting. Why did they let the speedboat on the lake. Poor man. Lord watch over him.
The needles in the legs thing made me cringe so hard!!
4th story should be on a thousand ways to die and the 5th one 😂😂😂 why would you have somebody cater your wedding with food from their house
There are actually independent caterers who cook all of the food themselves for weddings. I mean, after that story I’m not getting one, but still 😅
Story 6!! I hope that seamstress is scared beyond her wits end for negligence
That last story... that one will stick with me for a long time. Truly horrific.
Thank you Joel! Have a nice weekend everyone!

the people in the first story are dumb AF..its sickening that people were cheering but you can't really blame them because of the theme of the wedding but in all honesty I would have sued LOL
Me too
My mom didn't allow my siblings to celebrate Halloween for the same reasons. Then years later gave birth to her youngest child on Halloween. That was me!(:
She had a change of heart since then.
Another great video! I'm a little behind on the videos as I've been working on my own but I'll binge yours while out on walks it's super chill :)
That last story got to me...I couldn't imagine losing my wife, especially under those circumstances 💔
One too many acts of carelessness took place in these stories. The people who cheered an attendee bleeding out on the floor, the person in story 4 who insisted Roy stick around for the reception in spite of his addiction, the list goes on and on.
This video gave me such incredible anxiety. The last one especially. This kind of stuff makes me not want to leave the house. 😭😫
I agree, especially when you realize that, while there’s only one way we’re born (from mother’s womb), there are infinite number of ways we can die
The first story was horrifying, im so glad the waiter is doing well
