I hope this guy finds happiness and success in his situation. I would be proud of him, as a parent, because his choices were sensible and thought through. I wish him the best life has to offer.
Its so nice to carry on the family tradition and to change things a little with your own signature on it. One doesn't have to be book smart to make delicious candy. I can't wait for my next visit to HK to try your candy.
In Brazil we also have these peanut crunch brittles. We eat them year around, but we have some traditional festival called Festa Junina when they are a staple. We simply love them. The process of making the brittle is the same. I don't know if the interviewed guy will ever see this comment, but: there is not only one type of intelligence or skill, but many. He is good enough in his own way. We don't need to follow the same steps to be successful.
But this is so common? Like headover to Singapore and even in Malaysia, this is a plentiful snack. And fun fact apparently for weddings, the men have to bring one catty of black and a catty of the white to the bride's family ( any teochew pls correct me)
Please start putting the address of these places you document in the description. It would be a massive thank you to them for allowing you to share their lives and businesses.
It’s hard to find authentic food now. Bcos it’s so labour intensive, this trade won’t continue. But the young man who helped his mother make steamed egg pudding is hard to find.

Continuing a legacy in a type of traditional food should be admired and praised. These kinds of things can become a lost culinary art one day

His honesty and hard work is admirable. I hope one day I can come by and try some!!
Gotta love the honesty

I remember almost breaking my teeth everytime I used to eat this candy. Now I want to try this one as it is hand made and looks way softer
I’m so glad he decided to take over the business, it would be sad to have this delicious looking peanut brittle recipe lost forever!
I totally agree!
Better to do this than to do a job you hate, you did the right thing!
Ooo this soft kind looks so good. Need to buy a couple boxes when I’m in the area.
Looks so delicious
He seems like a pretty cool guy to hang out and be friends with
many blessing to his business 🥲
So funny his last comment! I can relate!

This is so different than what we have hear in west Malaysia, it’s usually crunchy 😭
Are you kidding? There are soft chewy ones as well, not as popular as the crunchy ones though.

Peanuts dumped on the tiles...lol
So the store owner started the business back when he's 9 or 10? Amazing.
His parents started the business. He took over in 2015
What an arrogance😂
