I love that part about the Divine Tool. Whether your human or a demi-god you have to take responsibility. I have a question though? What about the people who were born with power? Disney characters like Hercules, Elsa, and Baymax are good examples.
"...inner beauty that which is most important, but cannot be seen from the outside." "...and most fundamentally the magic object makes intangible things appear concrete and visible before our eyes." Those are very outstanding sentences. I love it.
It rings true for inner pain or turmoil too, I'm just realising! I'm sure if you looked hard enough there would be a lot of objects reflecting these as well...
Screenprism is like a magic object itself just like the magic mirror sees the inner beauty of Snow White Screenprism sees the REAL meaning behind the movies/shows the meaning that I don’t think that even the writers get you’re doing a great job keep going
House M.D. was such a great show (at least the first 4 seasons) from back in the day that hardly anyone seems to talk about these days. Great characters, amazing dialogue, and the perfect show to get Screenprismed.
I have some suggestions for a video (loved this one btw) 1. Coraline 2. An underrated movie like The Last Unicorn or The Secret of NIMH Love your videos :)
In the Black Cauldron, the divine objects are the seemingly invincible sword and the unnatural titular object of necromancy, both of which have powers that grant the users the powers beyond what they are. Yet the sword is traded for the cauldron and in hindsight it did all the work for Taran without the latter actually earning the right to it. The cauldron has the potential to make the Horned King an invincible army to rule a country of the dead- yet is easily undone by the sacrifice of Gurgi, he’s sucked into it and it’s traded for Gurgi’s revival in the end. Showing that it’s not the objects themselves that make one great, but your own actions independent of objects to give you a false sense of superiority- that truly makes you great.
This video was really amazing! I've never thought of it that way! :0 Ignore everyone complaining in the comments,,they just want you to cater to their specific needs as if you're some kind of robot who just pumps these out
I love your videos so much ! The way you analyse Disney movies is so detailed, clear and entertaining that you have us wanting more. I really love your work. - An enormous fan xD
For y’all looking for Mulan, I feel her story was a lot more clear when it comes to the magic mirror concept, she’s so self aware that she sees her own inner beauty and the movie is her bringing it out on her own terms! I mean, she’s got her song called “reflection”! And I think it fits very nicely All the more reason to appreciate Mulan :)
Awesome video as always! My only issue is that the guitar from Coco isn't really a magical object. Miguel gets sent to the Land of the Dead after he plays it, yes, but only because it was stolen/because he was forbidden from playing music. The other items in that third category were all inherently magical and gave power to anyone who wielded them, but what happened with the guitar was totally situational. The marigold petals on the other hand... you showed a clip of them and I was kind of bummed that you didn't talk about them. If natural magic objects represent the passage of time and the ephemeral, what better example is there than an object that acts as a literal bridge between life and death for only one day a year?
I LOVE your videos! Keep uploading. I especially find the ones on Disney helpful when teaching my classes or just conversing with people in general. Keep up the great work!
Speaking of fairytales, could you guys do a video on why Shameless' Gallavich is unexpectedly one of the most fairytale TV romances of all time? I think it would be really cool in light of Cameron Monaghan's departure from the show, and the conclusion of Ian's character arc. Love your videos, you guys are so awesome and smart!
I love your videos! It would be so cool if you could do an analysis of Disney heroes having innate powers and what they mean - for instance, Hercules' strength, Rapunzel having hair that can heal wounds and make people young again, and Elsa's ice powers. Or maybe just a video about innate super powers in general and what they mean? Like from X-Men or Marvel. Also it would be so cool if you could do an analysis of what the animal sidekick/ friend represents and why some can talk while others can't.
Hey SP. Did you ever consider talking about the moral conflicts presented in the Daredevil TV Show? There's some quality content to be explored in there. Think about it.
I didn’t really think of the guitar in coco as magic, since it wasn’t that it transported him to the land of the dead, so much as his crime of grabbing it on the day of the dead. I think the magic object there was the petal that allowed him to come back based on the blessing of family.
Great video. I've seen so many Disney videos done by people that cover just about every subject possible but I've never heard of saw a video that covers this stuff. It's very interesting and I was glued to my phone the whole time. Even though you do Disney videos, your content is completely original and that's pretty hard to do so I commend you for that. Great video and very interesting topic. You definitely have a new subscriber here. Thank you for the video.
I'm sure it's coming ;) Just be patient. They did all the friends from Friends but they didn't exactly do one after the other, that would be boring. As a proud Slytherin, I am glad though that they did the two videos on it, including the defense :D
I love what was touched upon with item 2, natural objects and time. Can you explore this idea further in a future video? I know in art, natural items like fruits and flowers symbolized time and death.
I think that one of things that the movie Rapunsel teaches its audience is that not accepting the inevitability will lead to unhappiness, and this unhappiness could lead to villany. Having a flower represent this youth and the inevitability of its time limit is brilliant in my opinion, as flowers bloom for such a short time.
Well... Demigods generally are good with magic objects, using them only for good and they tend to have be able to handel them better than regular mortals (no offense) also its kinda hard ot be a rebel if the gods are looming over you and being like "BEHAVE CHILD, OR I SHALL BLAST YOU OUT OF THE SKY!!"
It's natural that these magical objects in fairytale/folktales are usually emblematic of the characters that use them and the moral they provide. The dangers of vanity, dependancy or the true potential a character has yet to discover. Cinderella's glass slipper represents a constant state of togetherness and resilience even in the face of harsh circumstances. Despite being glass it only shatters at the hands of others but never in her care, it continues to shine on, much like cinderella's state of mind. (Yes I know it was originally a golden shoe, but the metaphor still stands)
Can you guys please make a "You Know It's Damien Chazelle If..." video? I know he only made 4 movies but I think he's starting to create an identity for himself.
Isn't Coco Pixar not Disney? I know they know own them but the studios are still separate in my mind, with different styles and stories. Merida too, she can't be the first Pixar Princess if Disney claims her, then she's just one in a long line.
Also, she’s still the first Pixar Princess. As Pixar’s branch has never had a Princess beforehand. Saying she’s the first Pixar Princess is different than saying Disney. Merida exists under both branches.
Suzanna I hope I spelled it, correctly. you have got to have the most amazing and brilliant mind, you and your colleagues are just amazing. I could listen or watch your content over and over, you da best though Suzanna, I heart your face 😂
I rather get lessons of life from the one that created it all, than from a studio that doesn't acknowledges him at all; and tricks people into thinking they do. I'm sorry to sound fussy. Screenprism, You do a good job capturing the real meaning of the Disney movies. Disney wants people to think that they can learn to live and do so without God and his word. And they appeal to the culture of the times. That's all they're about.
DISNEY DIDN'T INVENT THOSE OBJECTS! The magic mirror, enchanted castle, Aladdin's lamp, glass slipper.....all existed in fairy tales centuries before Walt Disney.
Okay is it just me or is ScreenPrism.. Original? They are just rewording articles I haven't read right? Like there is no way a channel like this took the time to come up with their own material right?
10:40- If the instruction comes from someone that is good, and mature and proven to be trusted through out, than doing what we're told to do is for our best.
The more I watch these Disney analysis videos, the more I realize that these films are about protecting the status quo. They're about how the old order of things (including a hereditary monarchy) is good, and how anyone who disrupts that order is evil. ...I don't know how I feel about that.
Were Belle and her father evil for being the oddballs in the town? Was Mulan evil for not fitting into the expected position of a Chinese bride and daughter? How about Lilo and Stitch?
It's not so much as protecting the status quo but more of a lesson of "if you're an asshole, things won't turn out good for you sooner or later" and a lesson of consequence. Kids don't understand the gravity of words or actions and I say Disney does a pretty good job of portraying that you just can't go take what you want and do want. While they do teach so many lessons of "following your dream" and stuff, they draw the line of following your dream not at the expense of others and your humanity. Rise above the status quo, sure. But do that in the expense of people and your humanity, you become an antagonist of the status quo that someone who respects it must destroy. I'd say Pixar is more closer to your subject but they do so as a lesson of maturity. You can't change or control the world around you but you can change and control how you see and react to the world.

Speaking of Disney, will there be a reupload of the video analysis of the little mermaid?
Imagine if The Take did analysis videos on the characters of Victorious (Cat's child-like state and mental stability, etc)
Or Jade's unhinged jealously

Sometimes the ordinary things are the most extraordinary ones.
A fantastic script, great visual transitions, and all around informative! Definately allows viewers to appreciate these movies more

i completely love disney theme videos by yours
Pinocchio's form was animated, then brought to life.
The snow queen was a witch, which I think is a subspecies of human.
Lmao. This video almost made me cry. Lovely video, as always! I really admire your take on entertainment. It’s an eye opener!

I'm thinking of Thor's hammer and the peach from Labrynth. I know the second one isn't a Disney movie but still
1. We mustn’t be bound by “natural order”.
2. Good things don’t have to come to an end (and shouldn’t).
God I just love this channel binge watched like five videos now

Disney owns Pixar, so Pixar is apart of Disney which is why Merida is also an official Disney Princess.

Frankenstein was written to remind us not to play with what we don't understand.
fairytales weren't originally only for children. some rupunel and a good deal of Tam Lin have some pregnanvy plot points.
I agree. Disney HAS been making the same movie over and over again for decades.
Yay I’m here early! Great video!

You guys wanna maybe discuss the 15 min of free, thoughtful content and quality editing or just mindlessly request your fav movie to be analyzed?
That scene from Pan's Labyrinth where Ophelia eats the fruit from the table still pisses me off.
Do an analysis of Lion King
Triggered, but we all know the favorite object
Is it just me or do Cinderella and Dorthy sound super similar?

This is totally untrue, you need to watch the movies all over again.
please make a video on Alice in wonderland
What about magic carpet?
They weren’t gonna talk about every object.
Mary poppins is now a magic object.
is Wall-E an object with a life on his own?
He's a kind of AI, not magic like Pinocchio.
