    Wow just yesterday I was thinking to look up some videos on correctly putting flowers on cakes! I usually do the plastic wrap, then insert the wrapped stems into extra buttercream that I pipe onto the cake for that reason. I have floral tape but was never sure if it was food safe. I'm going to try it next time! Many cake decorators in my area insert the flowers directly into the cake without wrapping them and I'm always like noooooooooooo lol. Thanks for another great video!

    The best way to bind flowers to insert in a cake is with white compound chocolate. Melt and dip the stems in it and wait for it to dry. Works perflecty but wont be fresh forever.

    a friend gave me this old runnered rose her husband kept running over with the lawn mower. When it bloomed, it had one flawed petal. Someone told me it was called the wedding cake rose. that it had been brought very early to central Ohio. nice little pink rosettes, blooms in the wedding season/

      I wondered about the use of toxic plants on a cake - eucalyptus is one of those toxic plants. I’m a complete novice and have been asked to make a wedding cake - my first! So when is comes to the use of gyp and eucalyptus (which are poisonous) doesn’t it matter so long as the stems are wrapped? This is NOT a criticism - I’m really looking for advice. Thank you

    • @SugarGeekShow
      @SugarGeekShow  5 лет назад +3

      Yes absolutely. Florists usually keep their flowers in the fridge BUT your flowers may wilt if they aren't in water picks. If you don't have water picks then it's better to put the flowers on right before delivery to keep them from wilting.

    Good video. Beautiful cake. I just wanted to also add a helpful tip - which is unless all your ingredients are Organic - your flour (from wheat), your sugar (from sugar cane).....etc. - are all sprayed heavily with pesticides so you will already be making the cake with those chemicals. So then it is best to buy all organic ingredients, when possible, if you do not want pesticides in your food. Thanks for the video. :)

    • @SugarGeekShow
