These are wonderful, certainly great to enjoy what 4wd action used to be about. Makes me look at the couple hundred DVD's i have to go and watch them again. Thank you John for making my child hood awesome.
I still can remember when Roothy came over to tassie and came to Agfest for a meet and greet like ten or so years ago, it was so good meeting him in person
Ah the very first episode I was trusted to produce and direct for 4WD Action. I’d shot a few before this but first time taking the reins. Not without it’s hiccups though, like accidentally setting off the epirb and water logging some cameras. All worth it though, great adventure!
Yep, and you did an incredible job as the world can see Adz. They just got better too. Hope you're well mate - and quite sure you'll be doing great work somewhere! Kaz and the boys say hi too!!!
Hey John, great vid of a beautiful place... Been there twice just love the wilderness of Tassie... Got into 4wd action back in 2009 got just about all ya old DVDs, and love watching then over n over... Milo should be in a museum ! Awesome stuff.
good to see you have enjoyed Tassie mate, if i didn't own a Great wall 4x4 pissa id loved to have meet u all. maybe next time you come down to Tassie, i can at least see u arrive from my home town of Devonport.
Great post Do you reckon you could do a post on traveling 4wding with a dog stuff that would make our fury friends feel comfortable and safe and any tips you have picked up...love your work you rock Roothy...
John is there any reason when going up the steep loose hill only a rear locker was used? Why not also the front? Is it bad to use the front in this situation?
Awesome Vid Roothy!! Tassie lad here! Glad you love tassie, any chance of the location of the no name track. That looks like an absolute cracking track.
@@JOHNROOTHROOTHY It's the Darwin Plateau track. Takes off to the right about 7 kilometres south of the Darwin Dam, on the way to the Bird River and Mt McCall tracks. Done it four times in the last 12 months. Steep in parts but in better nick these days. Don't need lockers in the dry, but useful if it's wet. About an hour to the top, with great views. The gate at the bottom is sometimes closed, but not usually locked.
That may be true, but having some sort of locker/limited slip/traction control goes a long way to reducing damage to the track and the trucks since you're not having to use excessive momentum to get through. Would much rather have double diff locks than 35s
Yep, but in the right place those buttons are magic for traction! My family truck - an 80 when the kids were small - never had diff locks and went heaps of great places. Wouldn't go to 'work' without them tho... best mod any vehicle can have off-road. The Mahindra ute I'm driving has rear locker standard and it's incredible!
Typical 79 series driver hasn’t got a clue. He’s just tearing up the track. Way to ruin places like this for others. Watch John show you how It’s done with ease in a slow old car with no track damage.
@@grantdoughty9657 haha your name is flat chat 79 and you tell me ur not all the same haha. Everyone I’ve seen in a 79 are in the same category as Audi drivers. Flops that think they own the road and drive it like it’s stolen.
Why do the producers feel the need to add a hollywood blockbuster sound track. It's such a horrid distraction from what is otherwise a great video. Worse still is they play that music over Roothy when he speaks. It's like stepping from a rock concert to a live orchestra then off to a chillout party, all in less than 30 seconds. It's an assault on the ears! Just imagine if you went to a cinema, you've selected your movie, got tickets & snacks, you know what to expect... then just as the movie starts a marching brass band comes in playing 'cause they want to "add to the drama"!!
@@JOHNROOTHROOTHY there you go. I was curious about that. I'm going to map out the Brindabella Ranges course that you guys took. Am i able to email you a highlighted map to take a look at?

@JOHN ROOTH
hey legend any chance you can recall the name of the track with the rock ledge waterfall on it?
Love the content 👌
Wish I could - it was out of Queenstown, towards the dam, and it'd been raining for a while. Track went to a 'lookout' but wasn't signposted.

Go Tassie
No lockers it’s 2021 Toyota
They focus too much on diff lockers
Old mate in his 75 series proves they are not the be all and end all.
