I loved this video! I loved that you got straight down to business, and didn’t make me listen to two minutes of intro like some channels do. Your info was helpful, interestingly presented, and thoughtful throughout. Thank you so much for creating this!
Every layout is great. I have four 4'x4' beds built this year, so you've saved me so much work. I just need to find a substitute for radishes since no one in my house likes them. Cheers!!
I love you guy, whatever country you're from with that cute accent. All of us commenters here should do a quick fundraising to send you a gift as a reward for your generosity of spirit. I planted my first tomatoes today in my brand new polycarbonate greenhouse, and I had your garden planning in mind when planting. Yours is a great contribution to a green planet. Kudos!! Ari
I have only just discovered your channel. Thanking for them as I find them informative on this method of planting. Many thanks Annamieke from New Zealand 😊
Loved most of this but you have cool weather plants with hot weather plants. The cool weather plants( broccoli, cauliflower, carrots and radishes) will just bolt and not produce anything if you try to grow them in the summer heat with plants like tomatoes and zucchini. Peas are spring and fall but beans are summer plants.
Thabk ypu so much for displaying this so clearly!!! I was wondering if you had another chart one with potatoes? As we need to plant potatoes, tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, lettuce, green beans,squash...
i'm starting my first garden in a community garden plot this year and I really wanted to work with companion plants so this is perfect thank you! I will for sure check out some of your other videos, sq foot gardening is exactly what i needed thank you !!!!
Omgosh, Thank you so much!!!! I’ve been struggling with layouts versus what I can plant beside what and you gave me great insight. Thank you!!!! - I subscribed and I hope you have an amazing day!
Thank you so much! I am going to use these with my students in our school garden. Also, I appreciate your thought process that you shared via the video, extremely helpful when learning about all this.
This is really helpful! I’m starting my first raised bed square foot garden this year, so this is really helpful! My garden is south to north facing. I was thinking of growing peppers and egg plants to the south and more of the bokchoy and lettuce to the north. Hopefully things goes well!
I'm here on my birthday watching this for the 10th time a year later from the posting date, which was also my birthday. Thanks for the clear visuals and explanations on the gardening layouts.
Hi I watched your video over a year ago and i appreciate all your knowledge and help! thank you for the amazing content on companion and squarefoot gardening
These are great! I just found out that my landlady is building me two 6 ft by 2 1/2 ft raised beds, so I'm excited to maximize my space. I planted in containers last year. I didn't have to worry so much about companion planting or set layouts then. I could just move stuff around. :) I ordered the book, too!
@@SmallGardenQuest probably zucchini/summer squash and legumes. My zucchini did really well last year in the spot where the new beds will go. I really like summer squash and got a couple fun varieties to try this year. My beans and peas didn't do well last year, so I'm eager to try again. I'm also going to plant a couple more indeterminate tomatoes.
Just wanted to second the mustard suggestion in the fast-growing garden- nothing will get you more excited about harvesting your own crops than the smell of ready mustard! Im not even a huge fan of mustard spice- but the smell really gives you that victorious feeling of succesfully growing something that is 100% recognizably food. they were the first of our plants to b ready for harvest And the Last of our plants to give up the ghost! Not to mention they manged to shrug off every problem that came to our garden (these were my first attempt at growing anything ever so these plants faced. A lot of adversity) one even managed to bolt in the face of the most volatile week of weather that recently passed through! Wonderful little veggie!!!
My mom shook off their seeds at the end of the season and had many many volunteers this spring!! Not even April yet and I just got a huge bag of them from her garden. I think they're delicious and am so glad they do well in our colder climate.
@@pr3ciousara that sounds amazing!!! Ours has just begun to flower and the vacationing honey bees are having a blast!! My dad even wants to tfy to make "Southern Wasabi" by trying to make paste out of the root like they do with the actual wasabi plant in japan! Ill admit im much more excited about making some homemade mustard seed mustard than spicey wasabi paste loll 😅
thank you so much for this video!!!! it was exactly what i was looking for - the square foot layout mentioning the companion plants. Yay! Muchas gracias
Excellent! Your video was just what I needed. Thank you! I just subscribed & look forward to seeing what other videos you have on Square Foot Gardening.
Do you know if there is an app where you can choose all the plants you have starts for, give dimensions of your bed, and direction your bed faces, and have the app give you the suggested or recommended layout based on the info?
Happy to help! Yes is hard to get some garden designs out there that's why I made them :) And maybe if this video gets enough likes and shares I will do more of them :p

Really enjoying your videos. Very well done and informative! Have you tried growoing zucchini vertically? Have seen a few videos where people grown them up a pole. Tying the stem to the pole and pruning lower leaves. Space saver.
Thank you so much! The first plan is almost exactly what i was planning to plant in my first garden! I am wondering, can they all be watered the same, and be in the same soil, or should i separate some with a different irrigation system and soil? (Which i can easily do.) thanks :)
