    In May 2006 I was fortunate enought to get one of the last end of the lines Yamaha PSR-295.
    But I would have probably settled on a PSR-E303 had I not been able to get a PSR-295 and
    honestly the PSR-E303 still sounds almost as good as the PSR-295. Also the older style midi
    connectors would have meant that I could have still used it with my current computer with a
    UX-16 USB interface as unfortunately with the Yamaha keyboards with a built in USB interface
    like the PSR-295 the drivers are too old to work on newer operating systems as the PSR-295
    came out back in the days of Windows XP. The orange backlit display is also easier on the eye
    than a blue backlit display.

    • @gearfacts
      @gearfacts  7 месяцев назад +1

      yes I've heard that our eyes do adjust to the orange color more easily, even if the blue is prettier...

    Hi, i got one used that didn't make sound. So I took it to technician and they change the soundcard chip. I took it home and noticed bass notes almost don't make any sound.. even on max volume, low notes are very weak. Is it the normal for thia keyboard or did they put a bad sound chip?

    • @gearfacts
      @gearfacts  2 года назад

      I sounds more like a connection problem rather than a bad sound chip. Also, replacing the main sound chip is extremely difficult, I don't think any technician would really do that. I might be wrong, I guess., but a sound chip would have to be ordered from Yamaha and it would be very hard to install. For now, try a factory reset by turning it on while the top note is held down.

    • @yuribolognini
      @yuribolognini 2 года назад

      @@gearfacts not really, he did indeed change it, but he said the exact one wasn't easy to find, he Installed a different series number but said the pin out was same specs. Not a connection problem. I was referring the inbuilt speakers.
      The chip was a BA5417 648 H76.. but the one he put had different last numbers. Maybe not so powerful. I took it back for them to take another look.
      Thank you for the fast response. My doubt was about its unplugged sound.. if I set the volume wheel half way and timbre to any bass sound.. then play low notes it's almost inaudible. The high notes sound louder though. I just wonder if thats its normal power or whether it was low because the chip wasn't the exact same.

    Is there a way to go backwards in the function key? So that one doesn't need to cycle through 40 options to come back some setting you may have just passed by.

    • @gearfacts
      @gearfacts  4 года назад +2

      On this model, I don't think so. Try entering numbers - sometimes the Function Menu items are numbered and you can leap directly to them.

    • @TheRealD4
      @TheRealD4 Год назад

      No it's really dumb. Best bet is to use the hold down shortcuts on the other buttons to skip closer to the function setting you need and then start tapping the function button from there until you arrive... So stupid I know!

    • @gearfacts
      @gearfacts  Год назад

      Or try holding function and pressing minus (“-“). Works on some other psr-e models.

    The function button is not thought out, it's a one way scroll thru 32 different settings!! You can directly reach a handful of them by pressing and holding down the split/dual/touch buttons, etc but that's really clunky. I assumed u could just hold Function and press the numpad 0-32 to immediately reach the specific function... that didnt work 😮
    Am I the only one who has an issue with that?? Like if I want to find Transpose, or Octave, I have to go tappy tap tap scrolling all the time 🙄

    • @jablankinaokotina4488

      @@gearfacts Thanks for responding. Sadly it doesn't work on this model :(
      Btw is it normal behaviour for the M.Volume and M.Octave to go back to default settings every time you change the voice? 🤬 Seems frustrating how it could be a great beginner keyboard if only Yamaha could have fixed these issues in firmware updates.

As I found „Gearfacts-videos“ for both keyboards I‘m pretty interested on your opinion. What would you recommend for a 9 year old boy, who might begins playing keyboard/piano in the future... When you hold the function button, it will save the settings so when you turn on the keyboard again, it will load those settings so you don't need to modify them again.
