I wanted to point out the section where he says "A kiddie called screech on the streets I’m a masochist,/So far from reach, I’m the type to kill a pacifist" is exactly what he does in the tale of Jenny and Screech. Jenny just stood there frozen, not fighting back and not taking action (just like her mother Violet) and gets killed. Screech is a masochist as he invites the cops to kill him.

Ive listened to several reactions now, and have to say I think you are one of the few that articulates the message he's putting out on the song. Its almost like he's offered the challenge for a lyrical battle. But what I love most is its a challenge to use your gifts for the right reason and speak your truth. Not just words that have no meaning but real, because this world needs to hear the truth.

I've seen a few people think the early 'Extra terrestrial, Alien, Tentacles' line is a bit of a clunky way to reference him being out of this world, but then I realised they're also all films, and his rappier songs are always full of pop culture references, including multiple film titles (Losing it and one of the Love Music chapters especially). I think in the livestream he said that 'oppin' in "the demigorgon of oppin" meant the 'opposition'. He said it so casually when watching to see if Knox Hill picked up on the 11/Stranger Things bar, but I thought it was interesting as it really elevated that line for me. (I'm not familiar with it as slang so didn't realise that's what he was saying there, but him being the demigorgon of opposition is excellent, not just in the context of the industry where he's a beast that their dismissiveness has helped shape into a rival, but also culturally in so many of his themes.) I loved the "pick the world up, I'm squattin" line as I bet that as a serious, often depressed young man, he has had people over the years tell him that he 'looks like he has the weight of the world on his shoulders'. And with that comes the idea of being world-weary, which fits with his disillusionment in songs like Money Game, but the then he is also saying that he can cope with the weight, and not only that, but he will lift it; and us. I wondered if the "hit by King Kong" part was a calback to Losing It, where he referred to himself as the "Godzilla of the come up" (and also uses the 'swan ton bomb' reference in the same song). It fits with Sony dropping him but also the way that life/illness has knocked him down at times when he was beginning to thrive, and both the industry and illness have been his 'attackers', literally in the case of autoimmunity which is the body attacking itself of course. And Eminem had a song called Godzilla I think? (I might be wrong there, not my main genre!) He always adds in so many easter eggs to previous songs. (His band The Big Push also had a song called Icarus, which I think resonates with the tattered wings at the end, too.) Have you read the post Ren put up about the place they filmed this video? I think you'd like the insights he gave in that into the process. The short version is that a friend of his was squatting in an old Argos warehouse and Ren thought the tension and grit of the place - full of very desperate and often difficult people who ran cage fights in the old lift/elevator - was perfect for the video. They had equipment stolen and people threatened during filming but he persisted because it was authentic. He spoke of the whole thing with no judgement, and I thought it was so typically Ren to look at somewhere most people avert their eyes from and see something valuable. I'll shush now because this comment is nearly as long as your video! 😂 Sincerely, a fellow overthinker
Oh man, knowing he's referring to the movies makes it even better. I really enjoyed Alien growing up, haha. I had no idea oppin was slang for opposition, but you're right that definitely elevates that line. I think you're exactly right. This also made me wonder if he was told he needs to hit the gym more when he was very thin. I know for many people going through an illness, or just in general have trouble bulking up, being told that is so frustrating because it's not like they're not trying to bulk up but this is his way of working out his mind. I haven't seen those yet but what you're saying sounds spot on. Also Eminem does have a song called Godzilla (a very different style of song to this but also very good for his ability to rap). I love the Icarus consideration you made, because he literally did fly to close to the sun and I feel like life wasn't fair to him at first, but now when he's doing it he's prepared for anything that can be thrown at him and not relying on the industry to let him in. Oh mannnnn. You're absolutely right, that is so Ren. That adds so many layers to the video itself and just Ren's artistry. Hell, it even adds to his insanity and courage haha. Ren connects with so many reactors, I wish he'd see your reactions, they're so special. I've been so excited about Ren even though rap and hip-hop are almost last on the list of styles of music I would listen to, but I relate to so many of the things he does I want to get into everything. I understand nothing about this genre and I've been trying to find reactors who can explain to me how his stuff might be special and different and boy, Knox is good at telling you immediately what the references are and explaining other technicalities for people like me, but the way you elaborate on the meaning behind those references and how you explain it has been really special to watch and so good for those of us unfamiliar with the subtleties and double entendres of this style of music. When he says 'I don't feel so well.....' he is letting you know he's about to verbal vomit. Also when I first hear the hardy brother I thought of the book series hardy brothers which were the boy who were detectives which could be another detective reference like the Sherlock Holmes was.

Bro great breakdown. Idk if since then you've caught this but the part from "catalyst for combustion" to "alchemist" I feel is a poetic way of saying "when I pull it, bang (catalyst for combustion). a bullet it, sang it. Shot it right into space" So it fits in with the overall bullets theme of the song. in alchemy they tried forever to turn lead into gold and bullets are made from lead but he's turning them to gold which could be a metaphor for shot it right into space because of how his music just takes off cause it's gold standard. Wow that's a run on sentence Also in the beginning of that verse he asks us a question and later he tells us he's already thought about it and he's answering it.
On his birthday he had a live twitch and was saying that he was having treatment in Canada and nearly missed his premier of Illest of out times. He was checking on YT and was quite emotional about how many reactions where already up and held his mates up coming round to celebrate his birthday by watching a Knox Hill reacting live to Illest of our times.

He loves Animal Farm. I feel like it's a tribute to that. He is a big fan of sci-fi and he loves 1984 and a brave new world, but also he is a Kubrick fan "clock work orange". So I feel like all those elements shine through in his lyrics. He is the next King Arthur/Robin Hood. A revolutionary renegade at the beginning of an artistic renaissance.

I came to your reaction first as truthfully, on my first listen I felt I had missed a lot and the somewhat aggressive vibe and talk of killing a pacifist made me feel nervous like he was revealing himself to be a dark demon instead of the Celestial being I've believed him to be so I knew I'd likely misunderstood and knew You would be the one who understood it often even before the next line and would help me to understand what was going on. Another tidbit could be a general idea of why he put screech in this one. For those who watch screeches tale (part 2 of the tales trilogy) screech came in hot-headed and itching for a fight. (The fight scene during that bar🤔) so him saying he's like screech could be that he's ready to go toe to toe with the industry cause he knows deep down his message needs to be spread throughout. Also 'pass a fist to a pacifist' could be him trying to take jabs at the health industry just brushing you off when your trying to speak up about things. (Like we've seen been done in the beginning of sick boi)

So Ren wants not only "preach" through his street art and music, but through his written messages as well. Second: Mercury/Mercurius/Hermes is a messenger from the Gods and the God of prosperity and wellfare himself. So Ren wants to be a "divine messenger" and a bringer of a good life in one way. I wanted to point out the section where he says "A kiddie called screech on the streets I’m a masochist,/So far from reach, I’m the type to kill a pacifist" is exactly what he does in the tale of Jenny and Screech. Jenny just stood there frozen, not fighting back and not taking action (just like her mother Violet) and gets killed. Screech is a masochist as he invites the cops to kill him.

Ive listened to several reactions now, and have to say I think you are one of the few that articulates the message he's putting out on the song. Its almost like he's offered the challenge for a lyrical battle. But what I love most is its a challenge to use your gifts for the right reason and speak your truth. Not just words that have no meaning but real, because this world needs to hear the truth.

I've seen a few people think the early 'Extra terrestrial, Alien, Tentacles' line is a bit of a clunky way to reference him being out of this world, but then I realised they're also all films, and his rappier songs are always full of pop culture references, including multiple film titles (Losing it and one of the Love Music chapters especially).
I think in the livestream he said that 'oppin' in "the demigorgon of oppin" meant the 'opposition'. He said it so casually when watching to see if Knox Hill picked up on the 11/Stranger Things bar, but I thought it was interesting as it really elevated that line for me. (I'm not familiar with it as slang so didn't realise that's what he was saying there, but him being the demigorgon of opposition is excellent, not just in the context of the industry where he's a beast that their dismissiveness has helped shape into a rival, but also culturally in so many of his themes.)
I loved the "pick the world up, I'm squattin" line as I bet that as a serious, often depressed young man, he has had people over the years tell him that he 'looks like he has the weight of the world on his shoulders'. And with that comes the idea of being world-weary, which fits with his disillusionment in songs like Money Game, but the then he is also saying that he can cope with the weight, and not only that, but he will lift it; and us.
I wondered if the "hit by King Kong" part was a calback to Losing It, where he referred to himself as the "Godzilla of the come up" (and also uses the 'swan ton bomb' reference in the same song). It fits with Sony dropping him but also the way that life/illness has knocked him down at times when he was beginning to thrive, and both the industry and illness have been his 'attackers', literally in the case of autoimmunity which is the body attacking itself of course. And Eminem had a song called Godzilla I think? (I might be wrong there, not my main genre!) He always adds in so many easter eggs to previous songs. (His band The Big Push also had a song called Icarus, which I think resonates with the tattered wings at the end, too.)
Have you read the post Ren put up about the place they filmed this video? I think you'd like the insights he gave in that into the process. The short version is that a friend of his was squatting in an old Argos warehouse and Ren thought the tension and grit of the place - full of very desperate and often difficult people who ran cage fights in the old lift/elevator - was perfect for the video. They had equipment stolen and people threatened during filming but he persisted because it was authentic. He spoke of the whole thing with no judgement, and I thought it was so typically Ren to look at somewhere most people avert their eyes from and see something valuable.

I had no idea oppin was slang for opposition, but you're right that definitely elevates that line. I feel like he's been in opposition to so many things for so long, and not because he wants to be but because that's simply how his ideologies line up in the best of ways for us.
I think you're exactly right. This also made me wonder if he was told he needs to hit the gym more when he was very thin. I know for many people going through an illness, or just in general have trouble bulking up, being told that is so frustrating because it's not like they're not trying to bulk up but this is his way of working out his mind.
I haven't seen those yet but what you're saying sounds spot on. Also Eminem does have a song called Godzilla (a very different style of song to this but also very good for his ability to rap). I love the Icarus consideration you made, because he literally did fly to close to the sun and I feel like life wasn't fair to him at first, but now when he's doing it he's prepared for anything that can be thrown at him and not relying on the industry to let him in.

Ren connects with so many reactors, I wish he'd see your reactions, they're so special. I've been so excited about Ren even though rap and hip-hop are almost last on the list of styles of music I would listen to, but I relate to so many of the things he does I want to get into everything. I understand nothing about this genre and I've been trying to find reactors who can explain to me how his stuff might be special and different and boy, Knox is good at telling you immediately what the references are and explaining other technicalities for people like me, but the way you elaborate on the meaning behind those references and how you explain it has been really special to watch and so good for those of us unfamiliar with the subtleties and double entendres of this style of music. When he says 'I don't feel so well.....' he is letting you know he's about to verbal vomit. Also when I first hear the hardy brother I thought of the book series hardy brothers which were the boy who were detectives which could be another detective reference like the Sherlock Holmes was.

Bro great breakdown. Idk if since then you've caught this but the part from "catalyst for combustion" to "alchemist" I feel is a poetic way of saying "when I pull it, bang (catalyst for combustion). a bullet it, sang it. Shot it right into space"
So it fits in with the overall bullets theme of the song. in alchemy they tried forever to turn lead into gold and bullets are made from lead but he's turning them to gold which could be a metaphor for shot it right into space because of how his music just takes off cause it's gold standard. Wow that's a run on sentence
Also in the beginning of that verse he asks us a question and later he tells us he's already thought about it and he's answering it.
On his birthday he had a live twitch and was saying that he was having treatment in Canada and nearly missed his premier of Illest of out times. He was checking on YT and was quite emotional about how many reactions where already up and held his mates up coming round to celebrate his birthday by watching a Knox Hill reacting live to Illest of our times.

He said something about when he was under that contract he kept getting sick over and over again. He asked to be released from his contract because he couldn't show up and perform.
He loves Animal Farm. I feel like it's a tribute to that. He is a big fan of sci-fi and he loves 1984 and a brave new world, but also he is a Kubrick fan "clock work orange". So I feel like all those elements shine through in his lyrics. He is the next King Arthur/Robin Hood. A revolutionary renegade at the beginning of an artistic renaissance.
That makes a lot of sense. I also started to think about it after and I really do think that they're partially representatives of the animalistic/demonistic sides of people as a whole, but also they when they were fighting each other it was almost as if they were competing for the top spot or a chance at fame like he said in Money Game where he was mentioning that people can be sheep. So many possibilities here.

Man what a great breakdown/reaction/interpretation. I knew this song was deep but you've opened more layers to his lyrics which I appreciate. Ren is leading a revolution or renaissance with his music, art and messages, like many others I too have been utterly impressed and slightly obsessed with his whole package. He is a renegade and I stand with him.

Watching your reaction for the second time I noticed that at the end of your reaction where you stop multiple times to give us your take ( which is what we want in a reaction) you then played the video thru non stop . This really added a nuance where we are seeing your analysis of the layers play out in the video . I came to your reaction first as truthfully, on my first listen I felt I had missed a lot and the somewhat aggressive vibe and talk of killing a pacifist made me feel nervous like he was revealing himself to be a dark demon instead of the Celestial being I've believed him to be so I knew I'd likely misunderstood and knew You would be the one who understood it often even before the next line and would help me to understand what was going on. And you did not disappoint - you never do and so on my second listen with you I was able to appreciate what it was really about and feel a sigh of relief that Ren is still the Hero I wanted for this world to be the catalyst for movement who takes down the evil and wrong in this world by shining his Light as a Warrior of Light against the Darkness - his illness was his blessing because it gave him the gift not only to build an Armour of Light as he learnt to battle his own demons but building his army of other Warriors in his community who Rensonate and are realising and inspired to rise above, sharing their own strengths and gifts and becoming Torchbearers themselves. He hasn't just cast a pebble into a lake and is causing ripples, he's cast a meteorite into the ocean and created a Tsunami..💥💫
I feel like Ren is some Celestial composer orchestrating his magic and his message globally - he has literally built up to a magnificent crescendo with reactors around the world acting like the musicians in an orchestral symphony each playing their parts to bring the whole piece (of his entire works) together into a Masterpiece. You played your part so well - a standing ovation for you 👏 👏

I really like your description of his journey so far, it's beautifully written and powerfully delivered. Another tidbit could be a general idea of why he put screech in this one. For those who watch screeches tale (part 2 of the tales trilogy) screech came in hot-headed and itching for a fight. (The fight scene during that bar🤔) so him saying he's like screech could be that he's ready to go toe to toe with the industry cause he knows deep down his message needs to be spread throughout. Also 'pass a fist to a pacifist' could be him trying to take jabs at the health industry just brushing you off when your trying to speak up about things. (Like we've seen been done in the beginning of sick boi)

Absolute brilliant analysis, Mate! Two things/thoughts i'd like to add: First, an evangelist is not only a street preacher but a writer of the gospel, the good news from heaven, too. So Ren wants not only "preach" through his street art and music, but through his written messages as well. Second: Mercury/Mercurius/Hermes is a messenger from the Gods and the God of prosperity and wellfare himself. So Ren wants to be a "divine messenger" and a bringer of a good life in one way. What a mastermind!
