Got one of these. The ESC accomodates 2C or 3C batteries. It does like to tip stall so need to keep speed up on turns. In fact when compared to 1200mm models it generally needs to be flown a lot faster.

Check to make sure the prop is snug and held in place firmly by the spinner. I had the same problem with prop noise, and found that the prop was not held in place firmly, and there was a little bit of play that allowed it to rattle/vibrate. I added a washer or two between the prop and spinner so that there was no play. It really help with the prop noise and performance.
3S with no landing gear is the way to go with this plane.

I must say I agree with a lot that Brian Phillips have to say that being said I did start myself on a P-51 1.2 June nite but I do have experience with RC trucks and drones and helicopters so if you have experience with any other type of RCs I feel like the 1.2 size is a good size to start at but it is more money, but what the size the wind isn't as much as a concern some of those smaller ones just get tossed around in the sky but either way I'm so glad I got into the RC planes and thanks to Brian Phillips for that👍 PS confidence is a big key in flying these RC planes

I had a P-51 Blondie for my 3rd (maybe it was my 4th???) plane and I LOVED it. It was a challenge for me, but LOVED and still LOVE that 1.2m size. It's my favorite P-51 size, but largely due to the size of our runway, and flight area - it's just perfect ;) In a larger arena, bigger might be a LOT better ;)

3s, no gear...now that plane has my attention.
When the time comes to replace my Volantex 750mm P-51 she'll be the one.
I'll always be a hand launch/belly lander because of where I fly.
Will have to convert to a 2 blade prop too.
Belly landing has proven to be an expensive venture on my 3 and 4 bladed props.
Brian, thanks for popping in that 3s for us to see the difference in performance.
    P.S.
Did you ever check the ESC?
    P.S.S.
I agree about the pain and suffering when it came to learning how to fly.
That Volantex P-51 of mine has more hot glue and toothpicks holding it together than you would ever believe.😂

I've got this plane here in UK. It had a fit on my 2nd flight as the Stabilizer was doing random stuff, like when it's setting up after connecting battery! I said my goodbyes as it headed away from me and all control was gone. I shut throttle off it dropped then as it disappeared behind a dividing hedge I gave it full throttle and elevator and to my surprise up she came!! Managed to get her back in one bit. I've only ever used orange receivers but this was first time with a Spektrum. Not much space for everything inside. Must say my HK Tempest 800mm flies much better and was a lot cheaper. Still no idea what happened haven't been flying since.

So I've had 3 of theses 800m planes and just recently I exploded my corsair into a rock. well I stripped all the electronics and was looking at the esc in small letters on the bottom it says this esc is good from 2s to 4s so it's hard to find a 4s that will fit but I run the same 3s batteries all the time never had an issue

They are NOT, in my opinion. I'd get a bigger one, or another type of plane. They ARE good for budget, since they're less expensive, but less expensive does not mean easier to fly, unfortunately.

Any idea how to reduce the gain on the reflex V2?
Mine oscillates badly at higher speeds in auto levelling

    • @BrianPhillipsRC
      @BrianPhillipsRC  2 месяца назад +1

The Reflex is pretty much locked down, BUT you could change the mechanical output from the servo. Change the hole position on the control surface OUT some, or on the SERVO Control Arm IN some, and this will effectively change how much you're stabilizer will impact flight performance. The bummer is that you'll have to change your SERVO RANGE UP from +/-100% to a bit more to counter this change from your control authority over the plane, but the Reflex will effectively running lower gains ;)
Hope this makes sense. It will work to help with a high speed osculation, but I haven't had this issue, so not sure why you are...

I have a same size Tower Hobbies Miss America P-51 that uses 3S 2200mah packs. Has flaps and retracts. It is a little too fast for my comfort. Rudder and elevator are small and lack authority at low speed as during takeoff and landings. A hot pilot should do all right with 3S.

Why can't you set "flaparons" on this plane?

You can pretty much always do it, but only with some significant mods, and when using FMS's offering, the Reflex V2, it's not available without a ton of effort.
I'd rather add INBOARD FLAPS, since it would be super easy, and more effective too.

Flaps with one servo? I would really like to see how that can be done.

It's been done by me MANY times. Watch some of my old UMX plane videos, and go back to the Carbon Cub 1.3m, and off the top of my head, I think the Sport Cub 1.1m as well (might be mistaken on that last one...)
Either way, if you want to do it with one servo it's totally possible, but might be EASIER with two servos.

@@BrianPhillipsRC I'll check it, I was not being sarcastic , I really don't know how that can be done

Nice flying. But, meh. Voodoo eats this one's lunch, at 2/3rds it's size. 4 blades don't affect the Voodoo's crazy good power, with or without gear. My Voodoo even handles FLOATS without breaking a sweat. Survey says: Nerp.

I totally get it! Especially if you're comparing the 1.1m versions!!!! They're CRAZY on up to 6S!
