I am actually so happy you are talking about The miseducation of Cameron post, because it’s in my opinion on oh the best movie of the year and one of the best books I’ve read and it deserves more recognition. Also the film only covers the last part of the book (but damn does the book need a sequel as well). The beginning is very good because it’s really Cameron alone in her own head. Like you said it’s very raw and truthful. If you liked the film so much I really advise you read the book because it is a gem!

There was originally a lot more set up with her growing up and her family situation which understandably got cut for the movie to focus on the bigger issue, and they pulled it off really well so they still captured the essence of the book and had it all make sense even if they cut out some characters and plot lines.

While Monsters and Men does have that dinner scene, which is a great scene, it's not as neutral as you make it seem. Its still largely leaning toward one way. Blindspotting did a better job imo.
