  • Hello hello! Today I bring you a video I'm particularly proud of. Not being much of a knitter, but still wanting to make the viral Sophie Scarf from PetiteKnit, I figured out a way to crochet it! Here I share how I did that. It's super easy and I love the result :) I hope you find this tutorial helpful!
    Things mentioned:
    - The Sophie Scarf pattern from PetiteKnit
    - The Spring Simplicity Shawl pattern from Small But Kinda Mighty (found on Ravelry)
    - Hedgehog Fibres merino DK yarn in colorway Cereal
    Key info:
    - I used a 4mm crochet hook
    - The main body of the scarf should be 11cm wide
    - To achieve a nice double wrap I crocheted until the scarf was 40in long AND THEN began to decrease to the end
    - The edging is simple single crochet
    - I used one 100g skein of yarn and had a small ball left over

    Thank you, thank you! I can knit, but didn't want to knit the Sophie. I've tried several times to come up with my own crochet version, but it's always too big and chunky at the beginning. Can't wait to try this.

    Hi Carolyn! I am sooo thankful for this video. I was about to have a mental breakdown (literally) because I have started the Sophie scarf over and over and over again and knitting is just not for me! Hard to accept, but thats the truth. And I found your video and voilá, in 10 minutes I have reached the lenght that took me 4 hours when knitting. No crying, no stress, the "same" results. I love it! Subscribed :)
    PS. to anyone who is crocheting this: at the first increase I put a stich marker on that side of my work so when I was unsure I just checked and I knew if this is the side when I have to increase or not.

    This is so lovely, thank you! It reminds me of the aviator scarf my grandma used to wear, so I am making it for my mom.
    Once I reached the desired width, I switched to cross double crochets and it’s turning out amazing with such a beautiful drape.
    One quick question before I start the decreases, do we still begin with the stacked single crochet at the beginning of the rows? I hope that’s not a foolish question; it’s my first time using that stitch. Thank you so much!

    • @TeriDean
      @TeriDean 10 месяцев назад +2

      I did continue with the stacked single crochets on the decrease and it turned out great. I’ve actually made 3 of these now with malabrigo yarn and they made beautiful gifts. Thank you so much!

      What about the part between the increasing and the decreasing? Just dbl crochet? Thanks!

    • @TeriDean
      @TeriDean 7 месяцев назад +2

      @@chitterzz Yes, the pattern here does call for double crochet. I went ahead and did cross doubles since the stitch count was correct for that and it turned out awesome! I’ve actually made 4 of these now. They work up quickly for gifts to those in warmer winter climates.

    Quick question 😊 when you’re adding length do you still do the stacked single crochet? Or just turn your work and continue to do double crochet?

    • @chitterzz
      @chitterzz 7 месяцев назад +2

    • @carolynspalding
      @carolynspalding  6 месяцев назад +2

      Hi! Sorry for the delayed response and lack of clarity! Yes, continue doing the stacked single crochet on the end of each row and double crocheting (with increasing) while you're adding length :) Hope this helps!

    • @milk88888
      @milk88888 3 месяца назад +1

      So just to be clear, when you stop increasing the width and continue the 40 inch part, the first stitch is still stacked?

    hi, i have a doubt, when you reach the 11 cm, the remaining rows need also the "stacked" single crochet? , stacked in the begginig and then just dc all the time? I dont know why it gets increasing wide when i tried :(

    • @yammiescommon5704
      @yammiescommon5704 5 месяцев назад +1

      I want to know the answer too…

    • @Noahidebc
      @Noahidebc 4 месяца назад

      I think I know why it’s increasing. After you do a stack crochet you double crochet till the end of the row; now this is where you have to pay close attention; you will see what you think are ‘two’ stitches at the end of the row. But really it is ‘one’ stitch because it’s a ‘stack’ when looking at it from the top you see two ‘v’s’ the second from the end is actually the top of the ‘stack’, so do a double crochet in the second ‘v’ from the end. So basically, don’t look at the top ‘v’ as the stitch, look at the length of the stitch. I hope this makes sense and it helps.
