Simply a wonderful video. (Our son is now also 21 years old). Respect for everything you do for your family (including time) and give your kids on their path through life... They will thank you for it. Best regards from Switzerland - Markus
Congrats! Was this also your first solo musical performance to be publicly published? It sounds like you've been performing and writing for quite a while. 🛩 🎹 🎼🎵🎶
Interesring fact, i never knew the meaning behind the shirt. Wish I had my shirt tail still. Was left on the wall at the FBO and lost track of it when I quit working there.
Another nice job by pilot and instructor....first two landings reminded me of Maddie's. All you hear is chirp, chirp and down the runway they go again...great job Quin!...
Great video...couple of questions for you if you don't mind.... I have a 177B also, that we love. I wondered about teaching my boys in the 177B (vs a more foregiving 150 or 152)... it does take a little more skill, and the possability of the "cardinal hop" concerns me. Any thoughts or advice on the aspect of primary training in the 177B? Also, what was the impact on insurance costs to let him solo the airplane? I've got the same "day job" as you, so my insurance is pretty low right now. You don't need to give me dollars...just what kind of percent increase did you experience? Thanks for the input and congrats on all your accomplishments with your children...!
Insurance was about $2,000 with him as a 16 year old student. I just renewed for $1,350 with him as a 17 year old licensed pilot with 50 hours in a 177. I think it’s a good trainer. He did porpoise a little early on. I have a packet of all the private maneuvers I made up for the 177 that may be useful to you. It helps to have an organized plan! I can send it to you if you give me an email address.
Well Done Quinn... as Irony indicates I was like #81" and my 1st Solo was that same date in 1981, IAG International in a Beech Skipper N38671, Instructor was Rolfe Dinwoodie ';-) Congratulations!
What a special treat to see Quinn solo and to hear his public piano recital (sort of). Congratulations on both. I am impressed by his keyboard skills. How long has he been playing? You and Mrs. QuinnJim surely have a right to be proud! Delighted for all if you. Blessings for 2023.
That was awesome, congrats Quinn. Maddie used to be my favorite Fulgenzi but now Quinn is since he actually got to tow my beloved Peanut (N3948H) out of hangar before it was sold to a Florida pilot who eventually sold it to me. :-) P.s. Maddie did get to fly Peanut so check out "Maddie Flies The Ercoupe" on QuinnJim's channel. You all are such a great family.
Phew, that monumental day has finally come around at what 's felt like half speed! Happy 16th birthday Quinn, You have really deserved that long wait and it's finally come and now gone. Just like that! Now, on to more dual training, solo consolidation, and the fun cross countries! Yeah, I was watching with a silly grin plastered on my face. The photo collection with Quinn growing up was just lovely. Well done Kristin, you're a strong woman of character having now watched helplessly as 2 of your kids flew off by themselves around the pattern in a plane! You have my utmost admiration! John, well done. Another "very proud Dad" and instructor moment. Quinn, without Dad's butt weighing down the Cardinal (Lovely plane!), it just wanted to keep floating and floating. Your "landings at Landings" were great. 0.3ish PIC? Merry Christmas to you all from NZL, David.
I appreciate you checking out the video, David! Pretty nerve wracking stuff. Solo cross countries are pretty stressful days. I was so relieved when Maddie was done with all her solo flying and we could just focus on the check ride preparation. Quinn can't take his Private Pilot check ride for another 8 months (too young). We're going to try and schedule his check ride on his birthday.
This is fabulous, Quinn! Congrats on your first solo, it looked as if you were in total control! And congrats to instructor and dad for a job well done! Wishing you all a very merry Christmas all the way from Norway 🇳🇴
Congratulations Quinn! its great to see your father encouraging your sister and you to be responsible intelligent pilots , that are following your , and your fathers dreams to be pilots ! you should be proud of yourself ! And thank your father for the opportunity to have this experience! And I haven't seen your father , ,, have to spit your gum into his hand to limit the chewing sounds! just busting on your sister , , it really wasn't a distraction, Just funny when your father had her spit her gum into his hand! keep flying! Great content!
Congrats and well done. Love stuff like this. And I appreciated the Ozark pic. I logged a lot of miles on those old Fairchild 227s as a kid in late ‘60s and early ‘70s visiting grandparents at the bottom of Illinois.
Congratulations Quinn on your first solo. Your dad has done a great job teaching you and Maddie. Your mom has been very supportive. Hope your family had a nice Christmas, and hope you have a Happy New Year. Fly safe. Texas Bill
Congratulations! How blessed to have such a supportive family! More than the solo, I love the respect shown - 'yes sir'; such respect also reflected toward being a pilot and critiquing yourself. Well done, parents! May you and your family be showered in safety!
Great job!
I wish I had a father like you. You’re a great instructor, never a harsh word to either one of your kids. I hope they go far in Aviation!
Thanks, Bruce!
Congratulations! Definitely one of my most memorable moments of Flight Training. Next up - solo XC.
Congrat Quinn !!! Great family attitude !! Merry Christmas

Great job Quinn, dad looked more relaxed this time.
Love seeing this! Hope to have this experience with my kids one day.
Interesring fact, i never knew the meaning behind the shirt. Wish I had my shirt tail still. Was left on the wall at the FBO and lost track of it when I quit working there.
Awesome flight Quinn...Congrats on your Solo flight....enjoyed watching it.
Your friend TOBY from greenwood gun club
Hey Toby! Thanks for checking it out! Lots of big bucks this year up North. I got skunked at my IL spot...should have made the drive.😀
The kids are so blessed with a cultivating, inspiring and fostering dad👍
One of the best solo videos I’ve ever seen! Well done.
Good job little Quinn! Keep Flying
Thanks, Claudine!
Another nice job by pilot and instructor....first two landings reminded me of Maddie's. All you hear is chirp, chirp and down the runway they go again...great job Quin!...

My first solo was in a Beech Sport in 1987. Pretty solid airplanes!
What a special treat to see Quinn solo and to hear his public piano recital (sort of). Congratulations on both. I am impressed by his keyboard skills. How long has he been playing? You and Mrs. QuinnJim surely have a right to be proud! Delighted for all if you. Blessings for 2023.
Thanks Lawrence! He has been playing the piano for 7 years. He really loves music.
Can't believe it. I've been watching this kid for how long now? Five years or more? Unbelievable.
It's hard for me to believe too. His head used to just come up to the spinner, now he's 6' 4" pulling the plane out with ease!
Congrats dad! I was reliving the emotion you felt while I watched the video. That was awesome!
Congrats to the Quinn Family and they grow up soo fast don't they ?? and Merry Christmas and all the best for 2023
Merry Christmas, Mike!

Thanks for watching. I really miss that Ercoupe. Let me know when you decide to sell it!
A very special day for Quinn and his family.
Good job pops! And Quinn, not bad for you too.
Hey John, I saw your plane a few weeks ago. Got to meet your partner. REALLY nice looking RV-6A.
I soloed at 16 in a Cherokee 140. My Father was there to watch me. It was 1971.
Congratulations, you did a great job! It's crazy how tall he has gotten, he's taller than you now, what you feeding that kid!
That’s awesome! Congrats! I’ll never forget the day I soloed, and I know it won’t be any different for him.

Nothing wrong with that. Great to have you as a fellow pilot.

Thanks, Doug! The gum chewing was really annoying. We watch that closely now!😀
@@quinnjim I have a freeze frame screen photo of Maddie's face as she spat it out! That was so funny 😚😁
Oh wow. Congratulations Quinn and Proud Dad…the Video…just lovely … a beautiful picture story and memories you will cherish forever.
