I know your video is 2 years old but I'm glad I came across it because this guitar just makes sense. I've never owned an Eastman before but I bought one two days ago on the advice of a musician friend who worked there. I was looking for an Ibanez open pore AW54 and their online inventory said they had one but they didn't. I had heard of Eastman but had never sat one in my lap, ever. I've had all major brands and this one knocks them out of the park, imo. It is such an inspirational guitar in that I'm like you in the video. I strum a few chords then I have to stop and look at it and say what the heck, this guitar is off the chain good quality. The sound it creates is like no other acoustic I've ever heard bei. It speaks to my soul when I hold it close. You can just feel the quality, the glue joints, everything about it is solid and the feel is majestic. I'm so glad I bought this guitar. It has already begun to open up a long-lost creative side for me to write again. Great review!
Thanks for your review. I just picked up the PCH1 OM second hand and i am blown away with the sound and craftsmanship. I may be on the lookout now for the dread to compliment it thanks to your review. Over and out ✌️
@@cksongwriter8216 I believe they want to a gloss finish . I ended up going with the Yamaha ll6 ARE , but the Eastman was definitely on my list 👍 Keep up the good vibes 👍
Because of your cool video I bought the PCH2D in the same finish And I love it !!! I wanted to get something I can play and not worry about it. I own a Martin road series that has has constant problems with desert conditions. All though not as throaty it is exactly what you said it is. I’ve come up with progressions and melodies I didn’t think I had in me. Thank you!
Just got it today, sounds lovely and so easy to play going right up the fretboard. Action is low and the wider nut & string spacing is really comfortable. As I was waiting for it I kept watching your review for reassurance! as I liked your enthusiasm and the nice pieces you chose to highlight this guitar. I said that's beautiful to myself and had to laugh🙂 Thanks a lot
Hey, Robert! You are very welcome! I'm so glad the video was helpful and I'm thrilled that you love the PHC-1, as well. I feel like it's a great investment for any guitar player. Enjoy and thank you, very much! :)
Im looking at getting a new guitar. Im trying to decide between this one and the ibanez AW54 OPN. Both beautiful guitars and both sound great on videos ive watched. I just need to get them both in my hands to feel qnd hear in person to decide
I bought one of these around the time you posted this video. It's a surprisingly responsive guitar and very resonant, has nice clarity, and with more volume than I expected. I found the high strings to be a bit overpowering, maybe even a little harsh sounding. The luthier who owns the shop I bought the guitar from carved me a new bone saddle and it mellowed the sound a bit. Now it sounds great. The longer I have it and the more I play it the more I like it.
Yes, I was pleasantly surprised with it, as well. It's really a great guitar, especially for the money. I'll bet yours sounds fantastic! Glad to hear you're enjoying it! :)
Did your luthier change out the strings for phosphor Bronze from 80/20 ? Because bone makes things brighter. I bet it was the strings, or maybe that high E string was set too low. Anyway glad your enjoying your axe. I have one too , they are a hidden gem of a guitar at any price. Hey try Ernie balls Aluminum Bronze btw, they last forever with sweet tone and bend easier. You can thank me later 😉
There ALL handcrafted, I have the pch 1 Gace cutaway acoustic electric for 399. The Pch Line are the best sounding guitars you can get in the price point it just Sounds amazing! If you're a beginner intermediate player, it's going to improve your playing! It's a great guitar, thanks for the review!
Pretty nice, I bought a Recording king RD 328 because I love rosewood back and sides and spruce . I hear Eastman is top notch. If I had the money I would buy a Guild D55, had a D50 but needed money so I had to sell it. Yep! You made a good choice😁
Thanks, Lawrence! I looked up that RK.. sounds nice! I'm sorry you had to sell it.. that must've been hard. The good thing is that there are always guitars out there looking for homes. :)
I'm definitely gonna look into to those. You've surely peaked my interest! Thanks for the heads up! Maybe you'll see a video of one of those in the future. :)
I love everything about the PCH line, but for whatever reason I just can’t get behind the lack of binding on these things. Man, I wish Eastman would bring out an updated model with better binding for longevity
Are you left handed or is that the camera? Because I noticed that the logo on the headstock is reversed !!! (namtsaE) or is that Namaste Guitars !!! I like your YRREPS shirt too !!! I like their electric LP style guitars too. I believe that they're better than Gibson.
Save for the fact that I am one of your subscribers and trust your judgement regarding acoustic guitars, I would have skipped this video because Eastman guitars are out of my price range, though I treat myself every now and then (I have a Gibson and two Martins). This might sound idiotic, but this guitar sounds like it looks, and you know as a seasoned guitar player that it happens very seldom. The guitar reminds me of a mid range Yairi acoustic that I had years ago, but which I had to sell for economic reasons at the time. The money I got for it was insufficient relative to the guitar's worth, and because I liked it, selling it is something I regretted, as I did when I sold a Nashville made tobacco sunburst Gibson ES 335, which I had bought on layaway at a pawn shop. Sigh.
Hey, Lorenzo... Oh, you sold your 335.. ouch! I sold a Taylor, that I regret sometimes, though I try not to think about it. As to the Eastman, yes, they are generally very expensive but this one was under 300 bucks. That's the only reason I got it. I wanted to try an Eastman and this one was in my budget. I imagine, these days, they are going for a little more, with inflation but I think for the money, it's a good little guitar. Just my opinion though. For a similar price I really love the Alvarez RD26. I gave mine to a friend and I must say, I miss it. It's getting great use though! :)
@@cksongwriter8216 I think Alvarez makes some nice guitars. I have a folk sized 5024 from the 70s, and have owned several older models. Their entry level guitars have the Regent designation, and although they are the base of the line, they don't disappoint. About 15 years ago, I wanted to replace the aforementioned Yairi dreadnought, but at the time the only Yairi the dealer had was $1500. I asked for a first runner up Alvarez (same company) and I was offered an AD80S for about 1/2 the price of the Yairi. The sound was very close, and I bought it, and still have it. While trying out at the store, I never checked for country of manufacture. I looked inside after I got it home. I was stunned to see it was made in China. Impeccable craftsmanship and tone. Solid Engleman spruce top, laminated rosewood back and sides, real MOP puddling like some Martins used to have. Maybe I'll look at Eastman in the future, though my budget says it'll have to be pre-owned.
@@lorenzoparedes2306 Yeah, Alvarez makes some really good instruments for not a ton of money. I hear you about the Eastman guitars, especially right now. Money is so tight. I'd love to get a new guitar, but can't afford it right now. I'm liking the Ibanez Thermo-aged line, too.
Hello! Your video seems to be edited like on mirror view? You look like left handed on this video, which I suppose is not the case. The logo Eastman is reversed too. Nice video btw.

Don't like their frets, otherwise my collection would consist 50% Eastmans. They feel like speedbumps to me, sadly. Get one of these set up properly, and it will be more than enough for a beginner/intermediate player.
Hey! I hadn't really noticed the frets feeling that way, but hey, we're all different. 😉 I definitely agree that it would be great for a beginner or even advanced just as an extra guitar to have on hand. 😃
I don't have the PCH but I have an e1-d and an e2-d cedar top and I can tell you owning a Martin both are better sounding and playing than my very expensive Martin. I have a couple really nice sounding recording King's also that I pick up and play before my Martin. I really want to say a more expensive American product is better than something imported but I honestly can't say so with my experience.

@@cksongwriter8216 the cedar sounds nice not quite as bright as spruce. I have a seagull s6 cedar top but the Eastman is superior. The more I play the more I like the sound of the solid sapele on the back and sides, slightly different than mahogany.
