    Excellent job mate. The cockpit even though is not to the highest standard you made it look superb!! This shows how by having the right skills even a mediocre kit can turn into a superb build!!

      Thanks Kenny, much appreciated mate! You can do it...just wear 4x magnification Opti-Visors, use 20/0 brushes and don't rush- I spent 3 full days on the cockpit! Cheers : )

      Thanks Tony, much appreciated. I think my model detailing skills improved immediately after investing in a pair of Opti-Visors and some good 20/0, 10/0 and 5/0 fine brushes. Haven't seen you around for a while Tony, hope life is treating you well? Cheers : )

    Very noice mate. Those ejector seats look the bizz. I do like the wine bottle foil method. Gives one an excellent excuse.

    HA! You fooled me for a second there! I was really impressed with your Martin Bakers! THEN! Should have posted that on April 1st! Nice work on the pit, that seems to be the focal point and unfortunately the only area of detail on most kits nowadays. Great start Martin!

    • @InternationalBritishModeler
      @InternationalBritishModeler 7 лет назад

      Thanks Bob, much appreciated mate! Ha ha...I wished I had the materials to make my ejector seats look as good as the real thing! Yes, the cockpit is a big focal point on kits and beyond that, unless the kit comes with tons of under-wing stores, pose-able flaps, ailerons, stabilizers, rudders and leading edge slats and nicely detailed engines and engine bays, plus detailed wheels and wheel bays...you need to make a decent job of it. The cockpit is like a build all on its own, once it's done, the build speeds up so much! Cheers : )

      International British Modeler Yes lots of fantastic modeller's out there.It been a cracking day here today mate, same tomorrow according to the weather forecast.How's that snow is it during down.Decals can be a pain sometimes. My worst experience was on my Phantom Hasagawa showtime. Used some rattle can varnish and it messed up the decals big time. :/

    • @InternationalBritishModeler
      @InternationalBritishModeler 7 лет назад

      Well, regarding the weather, finally, today, it was 65`F and tomorrow it's going to be 78`F and 75`F on Tuesday, then down to 50's/60's for the rest of the week.....so, some warmer weather finally! I won;t be doing any modeling during Monday and Tuesday with those temps, I;m going to be out all day to enjoy finally feeling some sun on my skin since last September! Yeah, I remember your Phantom decal fiasco, but you were fortunate that it gave the model a fabulous accidental weathered appearance which everyone thought was done intentionally and they loved it! Cheers : )

    Hey Martin i have got a pair as well but they drive me crazy when i put them on so they sit there gathering dust. Got a few kits on go just a matter of finding time to complete them, seem to be watching other modellers on youtube than getting up off the couch . Keep up the good work cheers

    • @InternationalBritishModeler
      @InternationalBritishModeler 7 лет назад

      Hey Tony, you;re not wrong there...mine irritate me sometimes, too. The clamping screw on the back side of the strap will lose its grip on the ratchet system and so the strap around my head loosens up and they fall onto my face....I have to get the strap at the right angle on my head for the clamping screw to hold them firmly in place. Then, when they are finally and firmly secure, after 15 minutes of wearing them, I feel like the blood is being cut off to my scalp and my head starts to hurt! I need to look at something a little more high end if I'm going to have to keep using them when I;m modeling. Take care for now! Cheers : )

    nice video, looking forward to the next one, great aircraft.
    I like the coin for scale, but don't give size of coin, it could be 4inch across for all I know.
    have you thought about maybe using a British coin, something us brits may have a chance of knowing ?

    • @InternationalBritishModeler
      @InternationalBritishModeler 7 лет назад

      Thanks Gail much appreciated. It's a quarter dollar coin (25 cents piece) and no, I don't have a British coin...I tend to give them away to Americans that like them. A quarter dollar is slightly smaller in diameter than a two pence coin, if that helps.

    Hi Martin,
    the build is looking very good at this stage, I assume by the box art etc you will be doing it in the Gulf War scheme, glad to see you are back to 1/48th, I don't think the Brit's are flying these now, are they?
    Happy Modelling,
    Les

    • @InternationalBritishModeler
      @InternationalBritishModeler 7 лет назад

      Thanks Les, much appreciated! Yes, you;re correct, I'll be doing one of the "Desert Storm" options from the Gulf War. The kit decals offer 4 different versions, including a Luftwaffe camouflaged version, but, I just love the "Desert Storm" scheme. the RAF still has 104 Tornado GR4's and have been using some in Iraq and Syria to take out ISIS targets that are/were based there. Cheers for now : )

    Really nice details on the cockpit there. I like the seat belts from wine bottle foil. And I was amazed about the kit's detail. Is that an original Italeri kit or is it a reboxing? Take care. Jens :)

    • @InternationalBritishModeler
      @InternationalBritishModeler 7 лет назад

      Thanks Jens, much appreciated!. This kit was originally released by Revell in 1992, then Italeri took over the molds and re-released it in 1994, and since then, it has been released in a number of different boxes by Italeri that have included new parts and new decals. This is the original 1994 first release kit by Italeri. Cheers : )

      Oh, thanks for the info. I wonder who originally did the 1/48 Me 262 A1 Italeri kit I've got in my stash. Great level of detail I must say. :)

    • @non-prolific135thscalemode7

      It's 2613. :)

    • @InternationalBritishModeler
      @InternationalBritishModeler 7 лет назад +1

      That was originally tooled by "Trimaster" in 1989 and they made 3 further releases of the kit with new parts added each time. In 1992 Dragon took it over and added two releases with new parts in each of their releases. In 2001, Italeri took it over and added new decals in their first release and released it again with a new box in 2009. Hasegawa have now taken over this one..

    The best way to achieve weighted tyres is to lightly warm them with a tea light or lighter then press lightly onto a firm surface.
