    I appreciate all these recent videos. I manage a 1acre food forest system in 9A, but all your stuff helps me prepare for my plans to eventually add an agroforestry expansion. I have been experimenting with a dozen or so biomass grasses, and some of the best performers have been some random home depot ornamental grasses, native FL grasses, and even a native canna(Canna flaccida).

    Tanks for great content. Please, when you show stuff like soil it would help if the camera is more still and given more time. Hard to see otherwise.

    Great! How many cycles does it take to have a nice and fertile soil?

    • @WhatsRipening
      @WhatsRipening  Год назад +1

      Hard to say, heavy mulch and a couple years time are the best start though

    Love it. Nobody is growing canna hardly. The bulbs are delicious. Cows will eat canna lilies but sheep won't. I tried to establish canna but the site was too sunny for it still.

    I have been using a mix of Mustard greens and really like it so far. Has your farm or anybody been using Mustard greens as a edible- biomass - ground cover ???

      We've done Ethiopian kale and collards like that before. It's great

    I was actively planning on planting napier grass along a portion of my fence line when I came across your video 😆 What kind spacing did you use for the napier and cannas?

    • @WhatsRipening
      @WhatsRipening  Год назад +2

      If I have enough, I'll space it about 1-2 feet apart. I'll stretch it out to 2-3 ft otherwise

    Canna needs soil that is rich in organic matter that's part of the reason why mine have not done well. They are also eaten by grasshoppers.

      Yes, mine like wetter sites with older mulched areas.

    "TFarms" sells a great improved green canna variety on eBay with bigger edible roots. It's grown well for me
