Singing for John is SO EFFORTLES !!! He can and does sing all genre's of music, jazz, rock, pop, ballads etc. Lisa his backing singer has been a part of career for many years now, she's a sweetheart and gets and understands his sense of humour. John has a great personality, kind and a wicked sense of humour, he is SO loved here in Australia and his friends in the entertainment businesses around the world. Were happy that he chose to stay at home. Glad you both loved this song Angels. Take care. 🤗🦘🐨🇦🇺💕
Lisa is one of his back-up singers who, along with Venetta Fields and Lindsay Field (note: these are different surnames and Venetta and Lindsay are not related). They featured in John's shows. He always acknowledges everyone else as if to suggest they make him look good. Even though we know otherwise, he is a very grateful man who appreciates the support and love of his fellow musicians as well as his fans. Their rendition of Amazing Grace is (pardon the pun) ... amazing! 😊
that band and all the incredible musos in his band lift and add to john's voice . they bring a whole new ,higher dimension to him . they seem to me to have a really tight bonding to one another which comes through .you see it here with lisa . i feel they owe a lot to Venetta's contribution . she seems to me like the muma bear and got them to believe in themselves more .you sort of see it here .John Farnham - Talk of the Town ruclips.net/video/vGmpR8bT4mE/видео.html
Also, I think, he holds the mic quite far compared to usual, so as not to overpower her voice. In doing so, he drops his power quite a bit, so that she is not overshadowed :) Loved John Farnham for years :) Greetings from New Zealand :)
John 'thinks' he's funny hahaha... his poor band have been putting up with his antics for over 30 yrs (probably closer to 40 now ! )... it is a testament to his character and personality that they still drop everything to record/tour whenever he decides he's ready.... John is a rare talent but also a rare human being. He's been married to the same lady (Jilly) since 1973 - so their 50th wedding anniversary is coming up in 2023.... just a pure and good person. Probably why we Aussies love him and are very protective. We love that you have discovered what we see - Thank you !
John is what we in Australia 🇦🇺 would affectionately call an 'Aussie larrikin'. He doesn't take himself too seriously, and values his connection with the audience as much as he values the music and the people he performs with. It's just another reason we have, and continue to love him.
John is a consumate performer he is at home with his audiences he is a natural comediean and I've never met anyone who didn't love him . Lisa was his backup singer for years and compliments his voice in most of his live performances and his recordings . Every member of his stage shows is a star in his or her own right . Check out his songs PLAYING TO WIN , COOL CHANGE or his rendition of LONG WAY TO THE TOP but make sure its a live performance they are always better .
I have been going to johns concerts since I was a teenager (I am now 68yrs) and he is still as good, friendly and funny as ever. He loves to sing and he loves his fans. It's personal for him. He wants to give you his all every time, and he does, even now in his 70's.
If you want to see if he can still sing, check out ‘When the War is Over’ live 2003 when he’s in his mid fifties, and ‘We Wil Rock You’ Queen cover from 2019 Hey Mate concert when he was 70!
I grew up listening to John in the 70s…. and appreciate it a lot more after going to one of his concerts in the early 90s. He is now 70+ and still has an amazing voice. Pleased to see his talent is now being appreciated by others on the other side of the world. 👍🇦🇺
This is why we love him for all that he gives on stage. He is not only insanely naturally talented but is an absolute down to earth guy. Some may say he's a hoot! Great reaction guys🙂
And we see John's friendship for Lisa shine, giving her equal billing alongside him... not in the background where she's performed from for so many years, but in the foreground where he knows she deserves to be... that's the person i so greatly admire, a truly unique Human Being!!!
If you keep watching you will find videos of John performing from around 17yo right up till he is into his 70's. He is also a very funny guy, with lots of banter and fun between song. Yes that is Lisa Edwards. She has been one of his backing singers since 1987/88 and has sing with him at just about every concert he's ever done since then. Along with Vanetta Feilds and Lindsay Feilds. Check out the 3 of them performing Amazing Grace.
John does love to joke around and enjoy life. Not only is he a great singer, but a wonderful, every day man. Thank you both for your reaction x Australia
He has only last week undergone a marathon surgery for mouth cancer where they have to remove some of his jaw and replace it. Currently in ICU with all of Australia praying for him. He is so loved here and we just want him to live, if he sings again it will be a bonus 💕💕
John is a comic. You must watch The Main Event is a concert he did with opera singing Anthony Warlow and Olivia Newton-John especially the songs Granada and the Grease songs with Olivia. The whole concert is fantastic and 3 Aussie legends together ❤️
John Farnham is funny. He's very good with banter and clever quips. He entertains his audience with such throughout his concerts in between songs. Apparently when he did the concerts with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra they commented that they had never had so much fun. He always gives recognition to his band and vocal backing singers, Lisa Edwards being one of the latter. He is such a lovely and good man and yes, a gentleman. His mother-in-law jokes are "disrespectful" but are tongue-in-cheek and really an on-going joke with her! For something totally opposite to "Angels", please check out the up-tempo, energetic and racing, "Playing To Win". Loving your Oz reactions.
I'd like to introduce both to another Melbourne, Australian band, if you're interested. "Little River Band - Cool Change LIVE" (by the Channel: Free The Rocks) another great vocalist. This is live from Melbourne 1983. And they were very popular with an extensive collection. Thanks and take care~🤘🔥🎶
My favorites are ALL the songs from their "Full Circle" concert as "Birtles, Sharrock & Gobel". Even the intro done a cappella is absolutely amazing! Beeb singing "Night Owl" is my very favorite!😊
Nice review. Lisa has been one of his backing singers for many years and you'll often see her in the background of his videos. John is loved in Australia not only for his amazing vocals but for his humour and ability to relate to everyday people.
John’s quite the comedian and he knows Lisa so well (she was his background singer for many years) he likes to mess around and make people comfortable. There’s a video of them rehearsing this and she does the same back to him and he just can’t stop laughing!! Beautiful song this! PS it’s not different because of the age, trust me he is still belting out You’re the Voice in his 70’s! He can just sing anything!
Seeing as you liked his funny side I think you would get a laugh out of this John Farnham and Anthony Warlow elevate us to new heights. Anthony is an Oprah singer from Australia who played the lead role in The Phantom of the opera all around the world.
Fun Fact - Lisa Edwards also released a few solo singles, but her release of 'Cry' in 1992 was her most successful when the song reached Number 5 on the Australian Single Charts (ARIA Charts). You guys are are doing an awesome job with your channel and thanks for reacting to some Australian music! Keep it up! Much love from Australia!
John works so well with other voices such as Olivia Newton John and many others, but the most incredible harmony is Jimmy Barnes and Tina Turner. Their duet of Simply The Best is quite incredible.
You got it it one..He is the true "gentleman" on and off stage he is a legend in his life and his music. I had the honour and believe me it was an honour to meet John a few years ago now and he took the time to just chat joke and was as if you knew him for years as a close friend he is a wonderful and beautiful soul. Keep Safe Keep Strong
I have watched several of your videos now. Watching your delight at discovering some of our great Australian talent fills my heart with joy and pride for my lucky country. Perhaps you might like to watch some Matt Corby next. He is a younger generation but an absolutely unique talent in his own right. Thanks for your great reactions
THE VOICE. John is the best & a thoroughly lovely person too. Lisa has been singing back up to John for many years as well as putting out her own Solo work. . That's why this looks like such an effortless blend - but a LOT of effort goes into making something look & sound this effortless. And the harder job is the back-up singer's complementary melodic line, staying on this and not getting drawn off into the lead melody. Compliments to ALL the backing vocalists everywhere too. 👋👋👋
He is known as The Voice in Australia and has been for 40 years. And songs really show why. You noticed how powerful his is by how far hw holds the mic. He pretty much belts the seconds half of song in the upper register until the end, and he in his 50's.

I stumbled onto your site just a couple of days ago and your reactions to John Farnham. I'm early as old as "Farnsey" have only recently begun to appreciate the amazing talent he is. He is, without doubt, world class. I enjoy your reactions but can't pick the accent. Greetings from Tasmania. mark
For another different but brilliant experience, listen to John singing Rain Coming Down. Always, always so much better live. Such an entertainer and the GOAT.
John is now in his 70 and he can still sing,he doesn’t do concerts but we had bad bush fire and floods so we had concerts to raise money for the people and John turned up for both of them and the crowd went crazy when he sang.
John is now 73 years old, his birthday was on 1st July 2022, he's 2 years older than me. I have so enjoyed and loved John's performances over the years, he's still got the pipes !!!! Hope to see him back on stage some time in the future. 🦘🦘🦘🐨🐨🐨🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺💛♥️
If you've ever joyed this another two songs that are excellent are A Touch Of Paradise and Burn For You. Both really beautiful songs. Really enjoying your reactions to John.
I love this video! Lisa Edwards has been with him since the 80s even though she had her own amazing career. She gets even with him at a birthday party on video & does the same thing to him! We should've warned you guys about how funny John can be! I think that's the reason John & Home Free are the only ones I really care to watch right now. They're all incredibly talented but also humble, kind, generous, down to earth & just plain fun & even goofy🤪 at times! 😊
I have listened to thousands of singers over the years and John would be in my top 5, my all-time favorite singing performance of Johns is the performance as "Jesus" in "Jesus Christ Superstar" singing "Gethsemane", would love you to do a reaction video of it. Link is John Farnham - Gethsemane (1992 Australian cast - Sydney final night) you will not be sorry
Love how you love our John You've picked up and commented on so many things that make this man just a wonderful performer and human. You will see John thanking and acknowledging his backing singers and musicians during his live performances, many of whom have been with him for years. The humour is all part of it ... often jokes and clowns around. He was in his 50s performing this. Stunning live performance by him and Lisa.
John loves playing with the audience. As well as being the most insanely amazing singer, he's a great entertainer. Lisa has been with him for years and sings perfectly with him.
John can be so funny, quiet a lot. A beautiful review from both of you. He even sang Old McDonald Had A Farm lol. He always acknowledges his singers and his band. It’s never been all about himself. He’s such an honesty, funny caring man. He’d sign autographs until he was dragged away lol. We have been so blessed to have had John singing here from age 18 until his 70s
Loved your reaction to this. Lisa Edwards has a great voice and compliments Farnsy perfectly. His other backup singer Venetta Fields is also brilliant. Farnsy's concerts are always brilliant, and yes he's quite the comedian. Watching this I remembered one outdoor concert in 2014 at Caversham Winery when John came out of retirement (again) and performed as the support act to Lionel Richie from the Commodores. I don't think Lionel Richie was aware of just how popular and brilliant Farnsy was, as he completely upstaged Lionel Richie. The crowd couldn't get enough of Farnsy. As always he was awesomely entertaining, to the point that when he did get off stage around 9.30-9.45pm and Richie came on people started leaving. Lionel Richie was very good, but we'd all just experienced the best with Farnsy and Richie couldn't compete with that.
Really enjoyed your sincere, down-to-earth comments guys. Thanks for your appreciation. Love to you from Sydney AU. Please check out Little River Band...
John entertains with little snips of comedy through his concerts between songs. One you would enjoy is Granada, a singing/comedy duet with the amazing Anthony Warlow, an Aussie opera and musical theatre legend. They reference Anthony in Phantom of the Opera during their chat.
To think he was a 19 year old plumber's apprentice when he gave singing a shot.........think what we would have missed if he'd stayed playing with water pipes.
There's a great video of John performing and Lisa is sitting in the crowd, having just had a baby. And he shouts her out and makes a few jokes. It just goes to show much much he truly loves his band. I know he won't do anything without his long-time musical director, Chong Lim.
John is a complete "Entertainer" - more than a great singer - he has been an actor, opera and comedian ! .. he is so talented Request: "When The War is Over" - by John Farnham (live)
Great reaction!! You guys are so cute together and always look forward to your reactions. May I ask if your background is Maltese as my wife is Maltese and I recognise the accent 😃
@@MerchantOfAlba thank you for the reply it's nice to know a little more about you both. Loving the homefree reactions. Can't wait to see what you listen to next.
She is one of his backing singers and does the fooling around to put her off the singing. Both being the professionals they are, it didn't put her off.

Thank you so much for your kind words! We will check your recommendation for sure!....I'm Romanian and my wife is Polish. We live in UK at the moment! 😍💚😍
Marcia HINES, "Shinning", please...🤔🙏😘👍 I agree his voice is on top...The mixing in this performance is poor. They should have lift her voice ever so slightly so she could be heard better. As it is this is just another 'excuse" for women to complain of men's patriarchal dominance over women. Perhaps it is John concert. He may have just invited her to join him on stage, I don't know. But I feel they should have given more weight to her voice.

He’s such an honesty, funny caring man. He’d sign autographs until he was dragged away lol. We have been so blessed to have had John singing here from age 18 until his 70s
Thank you kindly...I did like the funny part of him! I do enjoy comedy! 😀
She was his back up vocalist for many yrs and they did this song beautiful perfection as John is all on his own
Beautiful song, great reaction. Thank you.
Our pleasure! 💚
To see the range of the man listen to his sound check of Black dog and then Amazing Grace.
Having watched many Farnsey performances I think he was in his singing prime at 50. He still sings pretty well at 70+
Loved your reaction to this.
Thanks a lot! 😍
Really enjoyed your sincere, down-to-earth comments guys. Thanks for your appreciation. Love to you from Sydney AU. Please check out Little River Band...
The only way to watch John is LIVE!! :)
Love your reactions
John entertains with little snips of comedy through his concerts between songs. One you would enjoy is Granada, a singing/comedy duet with the amazing Anthony Warlow, an Aussie opera and musical theatre legend. They reference Anthony in Phantom of the Opera during their chat.
I get goosebumps whenever I listen to this song 💕
To think he was a 19 year old plumber's apprentice when he gave singing a shot.........think what we would have missed if he'd stayed playing with water pipes.
17. When he recorded Sadie and even younger with his 1st band Strings Unlimited
John only requires a microphone so that his sound engineer is gainfully employed! LOL
Lisa is one of his backing singers.
There's a great video of John performing and Lisa is sitting in the crowd, having just had a baby. And he shouts her out and makes a few jokes.
It just goes to show much much he truly loves his band. I know he won't do anything without his long-time musical director, Chong Lim.
I was wondering when you would get to this. Typing this before you start playing it, and I know you will love it.
We really did! Amazing! 😀
Guys u need to do playing to win with the MSO. Upbeat and high energy you'll love it!
John is a complete "Entertainer" - more than a great singer - he has been an actor, opera and comedian ! .. he is so talented
Request: "When The War is Over" - by John Farnham (live)
John is trotted out nowadays for disaster relief concerts. He has always been funny. He even had a sitcom in the seventies -- Bobby Dazler.
In all John's live work you will see Lisa as a back up singer but blonde.
Great reaction!! You guys are so cute together and always look forward to your reactions. May I ask if your background is Maltese as my wife is Maltese and I recognise the accent 😃
Thank you so much for your nice words! We are Romanian-Polish couple living in UK, I'm from Romania and my wife is Polish! 😀😍
@@MerchantOfAlba thank you for the reply it's nice to know a little more about you both. Loving the homefree reactions. Can't wait to see what you listen to next.
She is one of his backing singers and does the fooling around to put her off the singing. Both being the professionals they are, it didn't put her off.
Lisa is Johnny’s backing singer she is fab.
an Aussie sooo proud
One of my favorites from him!
Another great choice
Thankyou
Johns in his 70s now and his voice is still the same.
Try John singing Amazing Grace featuring Vanetta Field and Lindsay Field...great reactions you do
Thank you! We are hoping to do more of John's songs soon! 😀
For more of John 's amazing operatic vocal range and power, combined with hilarious comedy skills and timing, watch this "Granada" with the great Anthony Wardlow (star of "Phantom of the Opera", "Les Miserables" etc)- ruclips.net/video/K6uxFKmCXB8/видео.html

Yeah this is killer guys I love this song, thanks for your reaction awesome song 👍
Try
Amazing Grace
He is being silly he often did that in concerts to make people happy.
Marcia HINES, "Shinning", please...🤔🙏😘👍
I agree his voice is on top...The mixing in this performance is poor.
She's singing backup.
Loving your genuine reactions and your journey down an Aussie music rabbit hole. As a Nick Cave fan you may enjoy another great Australian songwriting poet - Paul Kelly. A three for one experience (ie the poet, indigenous hip hop and rock) I recommend ruclips.net/video/ICcewg7fxho/видео.html
Thank you for the recommendation! Will check it out soon! 💚
Be really great if you didn't pause and talk through it...it ruins the flow and the feeling for me.
Noted! 🙂
They have to pause, they get blocked if they don't.
