I am in the same place, retired and all. I got mine a couple of weeks ago. I was having a tough time finding a new car at all. Most of the local dealerships were adding $2-7K "Market adjustment". Screw that. I had talked to one Kia dealer and they were talking $7K add on, but I talked to a different one and they offered MSRP, so I went with them. I had a 2016 Soul and they gave me $8K trade in, so I'm happy with the money side. As for the car, quick, comfortable, some fancies very satisfied. The one thing that I'm taking a while to get used to is the Auto Stop and Start. Not a fan, but it isn't a problem. If I had it to do over, I might have gotten the next level up. The LED lights and the wireless phone charging would be nice, but I'm satisfied.
Good because having a turbocharger on the engine causes too much pressure on the engine components. Causes the piston rings 💍 to wear out too soon. And also having a turbocharger causes too much heat underneath the hood.
I bought my red 2018 Soul plus for $14,000...end of 2019. Thanks to “you know what”...I haven’t put much miles on it (it had 39,000). It is so comfortable..so easy to drive..I even camped in it....I still think it’s so cute..love it.
I love my 2021 Kia Soul Turbo GDI but sadly for some dumb reason Kia has dropped the absolute most fun filled Kia Soul ever made from the lineup. Yeah it was about $29,000 but man that Turbo is a hoot to drive. I believe you said turbo in this cars engine description but that’s incorrect there is no turbo option. Sadly the Soul I have now will be my last unless they come out with an N line version which I highly doubt. Darn it Kia you took the fun out of your new Soul lineup and put the same engine and CVT transmission in every version. Two big thumbs down. On top of that you can’t even get the cool EV version in the US. What the heck!!!
Small correction. The 2.0L engine in the 2023 Soul is not turbocharged. It's a naturally aspirated MPI engine. I love the Surf Blue color. Fun colors look great on cars with funky styling. It didn't seem to be in the trunk, but there is a shelf that can be placed on the cargo floor or a higher position to create a flat load floor. I love that feature. All CUVs should have that. The upholstery is so drab. I loved the houndstooth fabric they put in the first-generation Soul. Just like the fun exterior colors offered, they should offer a fun fabric. Regarding comfort, I find Kias generally very comfy. I've ridden in luxury cars that were way less comfortable. The Mirage is around $17,500-$19,500. The Soul is around $21,500-$28,500. Two totally different segments shouldn't be compared. Of course the Soul is much nicer.
Actually considering on buying this myself within the next week or so. I appreciate the review and of course the dad joke. The blue is gorgeous in person, the video doesn't do it justice that's for sure.
Hey Ben. Davcuts below is right. Just fyi. No more 1.6LTurbo option on the New 2023 Soul's. They all get the last generation 2.0L w/ IVT transmission as only engine. Be great if they apply some of the 2023 Sportage tech features in next generation Soul. Glad to see an S Trim. Only Souls on dealer lots here in Rochester are base LX models. Be interested in seeing the higher Trims including GT-Line and EX if you get your hands on one for a comparison. Thanks and keep up the great car reviews.
I have a 2015 soul and love it so much. Love the new ones but our budget just can't afford it. I'm looking at possible front rotors and 4 new tires when I can save a little money
I have 2016 kia soul and love it plus it had very low miles on and still running good haven't had a lot mechinal issue with it which I keep on top of things change stuff on it when it needs.Plus I keep the oil changed and everything a lot of people don't know that life of your car keep oil changed regular on a car and it makes your engine last longer.

I also like the digital gauges and you can also change the colors which are purple, red, and blue.
I heard one reviewer say that because the Soul doesn't offer an AWD option it can't be called a SUV . . . and hence gets the classification of Hatchback. Don't know if that's true . . . but . . . it sounds plausible.
The rear looks quite ugly for me but I do like the front design and the interior. I currently drive a 22 Toyota RAV4 hybrid. Might look into Kia in the future,

If its a gt with black top..you won't get a sunroof...and I haven't seen a technology package equipped kia soul gt with black top ..you only get the fancy front led lamps on the ex or lx models with technology packages [solid color roof]
We bought our KIA Soul new in 2016, Love it! Last year we went to look at the new Souls, but unfortunately that huge grille is HORRID LOOKING! Maybe next year we'll look again, but only if they change to a NORMAL-SIZE grille.
How do you not talk about the transition from the 2.0L engine that’s no longer GDI, the Kia/Hyundai engineers went back to port injection because of all the mechanical problems associated with GDI engines.😬🤔 I question your knowledge of vehicles, you seem like a nice guy but WTH.
that's the S trim.. Halogen headlights a huge downside right there. Also that engine is NOT a turbo which is fine with me just one more thing to break. Wish the wheels were black. The S does not have a center armrest in the rear. Being in FL I by far prefer a white exterior vehicle. The sun here will eat that paint alive. I noticed that this vehicle had blind spot detect a definite must have with those otherwise shitty mirrors. And no directional indicator on the mirrors, oh well.
Why do ppl need cars faster ... it's not like we can go fast on public roads anyway 🤣 all u need is a little speed to merge on thr highway or bad in bad traffic
The Soul is ideal for a retiree who wants a small car easy to drive/park, gets good mpg, has all the latest safety equipment, and is affordable.
And easy to drive around.

Lower 2 trims don't come with the blind spot monitor standard.... no car should be allowed to be sold without blind side monitor.

They fixed the looks alright..it’s the fix that made the 2022 Turbo model a fan favorite and an instant classic! THANK YOU KIA 👍

Ordered this exact color and trim level! Can’t wait to drive it after driving my 2016 Soul for 5 years (bought it with 12 miles on it in 2017).

Doesn't have LED lighting. for that you need to step up to the EX.
Multi-port fuel injection too. They've dropped the GDI.
