  • The Beast in Me was a very short-lived Broadway musical revue at a time when revues on Broadway were going out of style. This one starred Kaye Ballard, Bert Convy, Allyn Ann McLerie, Richard Hayes, James Costigan, and Nancy Haywood, with Marc Connelly acting as narrator. The book and lyrics were by Costigan, taken from works by James Thurber, and the music was by Columbia Records staple Don Elliott, who several years prior had contributed music for A Thurber Carnival. The show closed after 4 performances in 1963.
While the promised Columbia cast album was never released, a studio demo (or possibly studio album that was meant to be released much like the score for Thurber Carnival was) was recorded in 1963 by the Don Elliott Quintet. This number, "You're Delicious," was sung in the show by bert Convy and Allyn Ann McLerie. There are, alas, no vocals on this recording, so imagine you must.
(Taken from a vinyl rip of the unreleased instrumental studio album).
