1965, "Poupée de cire, poupée de son" est une chanson enregistrée par la chanteuse francaise France Gall. La chanson a été écrite par Serge Gainsbourg. Elle est plus connu sous le nom de gagnante du concours luxembourgeois Eurovision de la chanson de 1965 tenu à Naples.
Cette chanson, a été la première chanson à remporter l’Eurovision sans être une ballade. Le lendemain de sa victoire à l'Eurovision, le single s'était vendu à 16 000 exemplaires en France, deux mois plus tard, il en avait vendu plus de 500 000. Elle a été nominé comme l’une des 14 meilleures chansons de l’Eurovision de tous les temps lors du Congratulations special tenu en octobre 2005.
Comme il est courant avec les paroles de Gainsbourg, les mots sont remplis de doubles significations de jeux de mots. "poupée de cire, poupée de chiffon, poupée de salon, poupée de son" (avec des implications que Gall est une "poupée chantante" contrôlée par Gainsbourg).

L'image centrale de la chanson est que la chanteuse s'identifie comme une poupée de cire, une poupée de chiffon. Son coeur est gravé dans ses chansons; elle voit la vie à travers les brillantes lunettes roses de ses chansons. Est-elle meilleure ou pire qu'une poupée de salon?

Autoréférence, jeux de mots et double sens font partie intégrante du style de Gainsbourg de l' écriture lyrique. Ces facteurs font qu'il est difficile pour les non-francophones de comprendre les nuances des paroles et encore plus difficile pour les traduire...
This is one of my most favorite musics...she is cute and beautiful like everybody knows.
I'm not talking about the color of her hair or etc, but her voice and smiles that modern singers do not have much now. The Song does not sound old, it sounds as if she was singing now.

It has been performed in playback as most TV programs with limited means.
The band used was that of Philips disc 437.032 BE (monophonic sound) published in March 1965 and not that of the Eurovision Grand Prix.
I replaced this monophonic soundtrack by that of the album Philips SFL 7241 published in Japan in September 1965 which is stereo.
@@Claudus1943 Interesting, thanks. So the music is her original 1965 studio recording. I've seen the original 1965 Eurovision broadcast on you tube and the sound quality is not that great and, dare I say it, France is slightly off key.

For a 17 year old girl, it was a huge stress and it is understandable that her voice was poorly assured during the first steps.

I only knew her from doing this song in the Eurovision. I listen to this song quite regularly, as its a favourite of mine. It's only recently I looked her up, to see if she had much of a music career after or even before the Eurovision, as shes not from my country. I saw she's had quite a long and varied career, singing in both French and German. I don't know many artists that would do that, even today. I was really pleased for her that she had such a great music career. Often being on the Eurovision can be the death of your career.

@n1n1nanou Actually in the 70's we were already in color . Lots of people still had black and white cause color tv could only be afforded by rich people in the early 70's. But the tv network had already been in color since the second half of the 60's It was in 1967 if i'm not mistaking . Our neighbourg had a color TV in 1972 . At the time i didn,t know that the price he paid for it was one hell of an amount . I think it was 500 that he paid for it brand new .

So damn cute as a 40 year old, i find her voice and most female singers of this type of music where they actually sing...so soothing, somewhat erotic, and uplifting. Glad my favourite band covered this song so i know about it.
