Tom, I really enjoy your videos. I'm not an IT pro, just a hobbist doing networking at my house. I'm considering doing this for income when I retire from my current situation (Facilities Management). You and other RUclipsrs have taught me a lot. Thanks,

Thank you Tom for all of your content. I am extremely impressed with your ability to set aside so much time to give out so much useful content to the masses. I have been running my own IT services company for the last 17 years and have been in the IT and tech field for over 28. Your passion for sharing the knowledge you have and continue to gather will only strengthen our IT and tech starved communities and I applaud all that you do. Thank you.

My husband watches your channel for technical learning, and I watch your channel to learn anything I can on the business side of things! We just took the plunge and formed our own company in 2020. I would love to see more "business talk" content! Some ideas that come to mind: inventory systems, pros/cons of renting inventory to client vs client purchasing gear that you manage, how to find a business mentor... stories about your beginnings, things you wish you would have known sooner. Thank you for all you do!!

Hi Lawrence, I run a micro MSP in the UK and I just wanted you to know that your content has been a massive help to me and often influenced some of my business decisions.
I love it when you share information about the products, services and software you use and explain why you use it as it helps me see the real world value it could add to my business. For example we were looking for a password management tool and saw your Bitwarden Review and as a result switched to it ourselves and are very happy with it.
If I was to ask for one thing when reviewing products like this, it would be a bit more detail of How you have it setup. Using Bitwarden as an example I struggled working out how to setup my collections, i.e. do I have a collection per MSP customer etc.
Keep up the good work, I just wanted you to know you really are helping people globally!

Tom, I came across your RUclips channel about a year ago, when everything was pretty much shutting down. I have been fortunate in that my kept a job all this time. I had decided that I wasn't going to waste another year and was determined that I was going to learn more about IT. Ironically, I have been in the IT world for almost 30 years but only knew the parts of it that impacted what I did. When I started watching your videos, you talked about Ubiquiti networks. Even though you are not a big fan of the DMP-Pro for businesses, I decided to do an overkill on my home network. I have the DMP-Pro, USW-24-PoE and two UAP-AC-Pro. I put myself into a situation where I have the resources to learn, at my fingertips.
From watching RUclips videos such as yours, I have been able to take things from what I have learned, like my Security + cert that I got years and been able to actually see how it applies to give a deeper understanding to why things are the way that they are. For that, I am thankful for the video mentoring sessions. lol.
    Now for my questions:
What made you decide on breaking away from the corporate world to start your own business?
During all the years that you have been in business, how many times have you felt that the company was going to fail?
How many times have you had to remarket your business to keep up with the current demands?
Thank you again for sharing your knowledge, it is greatly appreciated.

I love videos about clever solutions, like media wiki for internal documentation. I used it for documentation on networks and computer builds I have done for myself, friends and family, even a small business in connection to family. It has saved me heaps of trouble, while helping out in troubleshooting. It's also good for keeping track on my small homelab. I love the podcast btw.

Processes, procedures and standards. The boring side of IT that some of us find more interesting then just tech. That would be some good content to talk about. Future laws that will be affecting the msp industry. What is happening in the cyber insurance industry. Just kicking around some ideas. Good videos as always 👍

Hi Tom. One interesting challenge I had in the past was capacity planning for our DC. Figuring out how many CPUs/RAM/Storage we need for the next couple of years requires some interesting skills.
I think this is a great business topic for the channel.

Personally, I like the more technical videos. Setting up server racks, particulars about certain hardware/software, and such. The "how to get started in IT" videos are already plentiful on youtube. But it's all great content. Thanks for the great videos.

Hi Tom. Great Video! I think (personally of course) that when a new MSP/Service provider is starting out, there are a plethora of these so-called "Gurus" out there pitching them all of the marketing "10x" tips and tricks if you sign up for their high priced "coaching" program (Won't name names "RR"). Aside from RUclips content creation, I feel as if your audience would love to learn more about your sales/lead gen process outside of YT content creation.

Love your content and channel! Very informative, and you have a solid relatable delivery (i.e. none of the usual youtube crap like "without further ado, let's get right into it" followed by another few minutes of crap which makes me instantly tune out). Would love to see some non-Ubiquiti network hardware videos if possible, and if not, I'd love to see some linux and virtualization guides. Maybe some discussion of network engineering, maybe some discussion of nuts and bolts like cable termination, different classes of cables, and so forth. For business content... maybe document various projects as they happen? Maybe some discussion of best practices for both hardware and cable management.

It’s really fascinating watching how content marketing evolves in small businesses after spending some time in the enterprise/business SaaS world. My suggestion is to carefully watch the content cadence and how your results change based on how often you publish. Idk what you’re using for channel conversion analytics, but making sure you don’t waste time/effort/money publishing to channels that don’t work is an important consideration. Podcasts are super hot as well, they tend to do well at picking up sponsorships. It would be great to get some panel-style discussions on the Homelab Show with other creators as guests

Oooh plus a video suggestion, from a disillusioned sales/BD rep. What’s the best way to network and build connections with financial buyers/stakeholders at the bigger companies (or local businesses) to start generating more opportunities?

Thank you Sir for everything. I’m an IT guy for 15 years now. But now I’m overwhelmed with so many business ideas. But finally I settled on two. Start my IT business or doing e-commerce business. Do you suggest one over the other?
    Thanks in advance

Tom as always thanks for your great videos. Question when it comes to advertising do you use the likes of Yelp or Google business. Or do you have any other methods you recommend. Cheers.

    • @LAWRENCESYSTEMS
      @LAWRENCESYSTEMS  3 года назад +1

We stopped buying advertising in 2019 and currently RUclips accounts for most of our inbound leads. We still belong to local business groups, chamber of commerce and participation in those still brings us some good clients. As for the others, I greatly dislike Yelp and the issue with advertising MSP services on Google is you are in a big pool with all the other people advertising there and it mostly brought us price shoppers, not long term clients.
