Hi! So I’m putting like a whole bunch of comments into one. 😊 I’m watching through your videos while I’m struggling with chronic illness issues thanks to long COVID. It’s been 2 years and I’m mostly house bound. I loved to hike and I miss it so much. I’m hoping and praying that I will be well enough to do so again. I would love to do the AT with my husband or with my daughters. It’s a dream of mine. I’m about to turn 47 - maybe for my 50th I’ll be well enough. Anyway I’m living vicariously through you and LB. I’m on day 33 of your hike vlogs and loving them. I so respect your faith, your love for each other and your family, your decision to hike to Maine, you reevaluation and decision to return home, and the ways you’ve shared. I especially I’m grateful for your continued sharing in the midst of negative and idiotic comments and people who seem to think you owe it to them to complete the AT or that you’ll regret it somehow. It takes courage to keep sharing in the midst of that. And I am grateful you are. You and LB and her indomitable spirit are sustaining me right now. And giving me sweet memories of when my girls were that age. So thanks to both of you for sharing. I will keep following you and enjoying whatever adventures you share. And I’ll be praying to go on my own adventures in the near future. Peace and blessings to you both. Now I’m off to watch day 34 of your hike. Sorry for this massively long comment. ❤
Thank you for the kind, encouraging, and thoughtful message. It’s so wonderful knowing there’s people out there like you are sharing our journey. I sincerely appreciate you. I’m so sorry to hear about your health struggles. I will pray for your complete healing, in the mighty name of Jesus. I can only imagine how difficult it is to manage through for such a long time. I pray for you to be well so you can experience the AT! We had an amazing journey and are so grateful for the opportunity. Likewise, we are soooo happy to be home and reunited with our family. This was just not the season to be gone for 6+ months. Our home is where our hearts are. We’ll never regret choosing family. I do look forward to maybe one day attempting a thru hike again with my husband once we both retire. As that was the original plan, I think it will be much better timed as our children will all be off doing their own things. What a blessing it will be to share that experience with him! Thanks again for your support! And thank you for continuing to follow our adventures. We’re excited to continue to share our family adventures. We have one coming up this week! God bless and love and light to you! 💙☀️🙏🏼✨
Thank you! I do miss the trail a lot, but really look forward to hiking it with my husband once we retire. In the meantime, we’ll do more family friendly and inclusive adventures. 😊 God bless, friend. 💙
Thank you so much for your videos! They are so informative and so well done. I know the time it takes to put one of these out. It was so great traveling along with you and your precious daughter on your thru hike attempt! What an awesome, awesome journey! This video gives me great insight into what to carry in my pack! I have watched a million of them, and they all help! LOVE your videos and your heart!
Thank you! The videos are certainly a labor of love and I’m happy to help in any way that I can. I’ve learned so much from many RUclips hikers over the years and now I’m happy to give back. 💙 We can all help each other out so much! Love and light to you.
Great gear review the tent info, wool clothing choice great help . Love the backpack. Sitting pad good choices. Bear bag choice good to. Thank you so much . PS the air pump supper good idea. ❤😊
Very thorough gear rundown MB! 👍 I have the same trekking poles, but with way less mileage. It was good to see they took 750+ mile beating so well. The Flextail pump is awesome and its better for the insides of your inflatable gear. I think my fears were in your medicine bag too. 😂 I would have packed every item. The value negated the weight, and as you said, it's nice to help someone else out if needed. Hope you all have a great weekend. ✌️🙂
Thank you! I’d have to ask LB, but I think I used those poles on all of our shake down hikes, including the FHT in December..which means they have around 900 miles on them. I love them! And yeah, I’ll always have that medicine bag if I have a kid or two with me. If I roll solo or just with my husband, I can see pairing it down quite a bit. 😂
Another awesome video! Thank you for posting this. Love the videos in video. Wondering, when you edited your vlogs, do you have a lot of video that people haven't seen, or do you delete as you go. Some never before seen clips would be cool. May God continue to keep and bless you both!
Thank you! I hope you found it helpful. It was fun adding in the video clips and brought us back down memory lane. I have all the raw footage saved on my phone…not sure what to do with it all just yet! 😂 God bless you. 🙏🏼💙
Great gear vid! Really great choices there. I love my wool hiking gear, there’s nothing better to keep you dry and always winter hiked in my baleaf fleece leggings.
This was very informative. I packed my fears in food when I hiked rim2rim. Great tip on merino wool bra, haven’t tried that, I’m a marathoner and get horrible chaffing around bra line.
Thank you! I appreciate your feedback and I’m so glad it was informative. I packed my fears with food for the first 3-4 backpacking trips. I carried soooo much food but then got tired of carrying the unnecessary weight. After our LASH, now, I’d rather be hungry than carry extra weight! 😂 Even though merino wool is expensive, it’s worth it due to the quick drying and low odor property. I hope you get some relief with the chaffing. That can be painful. Good luck in future marathons! You guys are amazing athletes!! 💙
Really good video. I was particularly interested to learn that you didn’t ever use your waterproof trousers. Did you just get used to having wet legs and feet? I’m experimenting using trail runners with no socks at the moment, keeping my socks nice and dry. I’m still undecided on the waterproof shoes issue. 😊
Thanks! Yeah, I’m surprised I didn’t use the waterproof pants either. Big waste of money for me. 😕 I did get used to having wet legs and feet very quickly. It became no big deal rather quickly. I’d be worried about blisters going with no socks. And I definitely don’t recommend waterproof shoes because they just don’t work. If it’s raining hard enough, the rain enters through the top of your shoe and eventually soaks the shoe. Now you have a wet and heavy shoe that takes a long time to dry. Regular trail runners dry pretty quickly once you get to walking again.
Thanks to you, i am switching my XMid Pro 2, for TW ul2, my new Hyperlite ( same as yours) fits perfectly on my ZPacks Hip Belt, replacing one much smaller Hip Belt Pouch, and still serve as a fanny pack in town. And you just convinced me to leave my Hoka Sandals ( camp shoes). Will apply your tips to see how it works for me next week for my some 150 mi from Lee, Ma to Rutland Vt.
I know you’re going to love those changes. I remember you were not thrilled with your XMid. I almost bought those sandals you have but finally realized I just don’t need them. I wish we could come up and hike that 150 miles with you!! Ugh, maybe next year! Send us pics please! 🙏🏼💙
You could do sections as a family that would be nice. I admire desire to be pulled back home. I agree it's a long tome to be apart as a family. God put you all together it's good to follow his will.
We just might do that! Section hiking would be so much fun with them. We are planning a few backpacking trips in the next few months. Can’t wait! And amen! I feel so at peace with our decision. God is good. 🙏🏼💙
@wildflowersadventures one more thing...I observed after sent that text you expressed a desire to do the whites. Try this autumn like September. Just do the presidential traverse. I did it two years ago. I have no regrets it's a wonderful experience it's like being on top of the world! For 19 miles. You can stay in the huts over a couple days. Anyway enjoy. Thanks for sharing your adventures Best John.
I did not know that there were wipes for poison ivy. Hubby and I went blueberry picking and hiking yesterday and the trail was overgrown with poison ivy. We are only day hikers from southern New Hampshire but I still appreciated your gear breakdown. Thank you so much Mamma Bear and Little Bear,👍🥾
Thank you so much for watching! 💙☀️🙏🏼✨ We’ve never actually used the poison ivy wipes, but I figured it wouldn’t be a bad idea to have them. I hope you and your husband had a great time picking blueberries together and didn’t have any trouble with the poison ivy. Overgrown trails can be difficult to manage.
I carried camp shoes just to wear in showers. No matter how clean a place might look, I still wore my Crocs when in the bathrooms/ showers. I met a hiker at one of the hostels who was going home from catching staff. And he believed it was from being barefoot in the showers.
Loved this! It was like a behind the scenes look at the making of your AT hike videos! 😁 I’m saving it for reference later. You had some great gear that I might try out myself. I for sure will be getting the pet bags. That was genius and I don’t know why I’ve never thought of it!!

I watch Molly Rose Outdoors as she takes us along on her adventure. She’s a charming young woman and I thoroughly enjoy her videos. Worth watching for sure!
We have some backpacking trips we’re talking about as a family. 😊 In the future, once my husband and I both retire, we will attempt a thru hike together.
She isn’t acting like anything. She is answering questions sent to her. Please try to be kind. She is a good “kindness”model for you to follow. Im not sure why anyone would feel compelled to leave a message like this… hurts my heart for you✌️💚
Hi Pam, I hope you have a nice day. 🙂 A gear review video was requested by quite a few viewers. I guess many people think that after having walked over 750 miles for 80 days that I was qualified enough to give them my opinion on this gear.
Thank you n I hope it was helpful. 😊 Yes, the cup did come with the orange mesh bag. I liked it because it kept the lid on and held everything inside. Plus, it was easy to find being bright orange.

Hi there! My pleasure! I hope it was helpful.
Which shirts are you referring to?
@wildflowersadventures Just your regular hiking tshirts. I think you started the hike in a purple one maybe?
@WildCloudberry they are both merino wool. The one I started in, maroon, was a brand I got off of Amazon - Merino Protect. The green one is Smart Wool.
Thank you!
Great info

@grantjordan4672 no worries! We didn’t have any issues with the dyneema bag from Hilltop. The OP sack inside sealed tightly and the original one stayed in good shape until about 2 months of use. @grantjordan4672 You’re welcome! ☺️ Doing our best to stay cool. It’s so hot and humid. The daily rain showers aren’t cooling things down much lately.
I use the mini swiss army knife. With the knife, file and tiny scissors. I find that I use the scissors more than anything. Much easier to open things than a knife. It's very small and only weighs.0.7 ounces.

Does the “pee clothe” dry quickly- so it’s dry between peeing?
It does dry pretty quickly if you’re able to leave it unfolded and get some sun. If not, it mostly dries out, good enough. Otherwise, it’s kinda like everything else that gets wet on the AT….it beats digging cat holes and carrying tons of toilet paper.
Regarding sun protection, did you mostly use your umbrellas or did you use suntan lotion quite a lot?
We mostly used our umbrellas in direct sun, but we did also utilize a mineral sunscreen often as well.
Such helpful information ❤
Thank you, love! 💙
This is so cool that you have done this video!!
Did your titanium cup come with the outer bag that u slipped it back into?
Thank you!
Yes, the cup comes with an orange mesh bag. I liked it because it kept the lid on and everything stayed inside. 😊
LB should do a video please, I’ve come across some groups on Facebook that want to know what gear their kids (even if she puts a list later in this post).

What were your final expense totals. You mentioned you saved for quite awhile to afford the entire trip. So you surely came in under budget. Just wondering the final costs for the time and miles you guys completed.
Love following your journey before, during and after trail

BPS is a clever name
😂😂😂
Just wondering what you used to keep your phones charged for many days at a time without electricity? Thank you!
Hi! We used Nitecore 10,000 mAh. I used 2 of them because of the constant vlogging and editing, plus using FarOut. Little Bear only needed one.
So I'm sorry , lost track , have you ended your attempt or are you still at it ? thanks
We ended our attempt this year a few months ago at mile 758.8. We’ll be back next year for another LASH. 😊
If the Copper Spur weighed the same as the Tiger wall would you still take the TW ?
That’s a great question. Hmmm…If they both weighed the same, I’d probably choose the CS since it’s fully freestanding. Really because it’s one less thing to do in set up, but having to stake out 2 points is definitely worth the weight savings.

Also what other thru hiker vloggers do you recommend? Women are better. Thanks!
We personally know and love Michael and Leo (I Suck at Hiking) and Ben and Alice (Ben in the Trail).
I watch Molly Rose Outdoors as she takes us along on her adventure. She’s a charming young woman and I thoroughly enjoy her videos. Worth watching for sure!
So are you going back on the trail,?
We have some backpacking trips we’re talking about as a family. 😊
In the future, once my husband and I both retire, we will attempt a thru hike together.

Hi!! Love and light to you! 🙏🏼💙✨
You are acting like a thru hiker. Usually thru hikers do a ending gear video
A gear review video was requested by quite a few viewers. I guess many people think that after having walked over 750 miles for 80 days that I was qualified enough to give them my opinion on this gear.
I enjoyed watching your gear review! 👍 So glad you are both home & happy. 😊
Thank you, Sue! 🙏🏼💙
SMH…
Hi there! What does that mean?
This is so cool that you have done this video!!
Did your titanium cup come with the outer bag that u slipped it back into?
Thank you n I hope it was helpful. 😊
Yes, the cup did come with the orange mesh bag. I liked it because it kept the lid on and held everything inside. Plus, it was easy to find being bright orange.
