I can proudly say that going merry is my first heartbreak from one piece. We all cried over a ship and somehow it made sense.

Luffy vs Lucci is also one of the few close quarters hand-to-hand battles we've seen. It makes for a more dynamic fight, I think.

Remember, Gear 2 uses up calories like nobody’s business (on top of the negative implications of spiking your blood pressure for an adrenaline boost). The final time he used it against Lucci was basically like asking a person whose lungs collapsed to hold their breath. All that on top of all the damage from fighting Lucci (including 3 Six King Guns, one of which was stronger than the other two), it’s no wonder Luffy can’t move.
Thankfully someone was there to save his ass. And everyone else’s ass.

For me the Lucci is still my #1 fight in all of OP, still plenty of amazing fights after this but this just can't be removed from the top spot for me its special. I will not spoil any future fights or characters.
