I bought this vac for my grandmother for her birthday earlier this month and this vac is made for everyday quick cleans. I like it because it’s so lightweight that my 75 year old grandmother can easily use it. I love the design however I agree the biggest con is the battery life… but if you’re using it for small pickups or to quickly clean a room it does what it needs to do!
@@VacuumWars She loves it. Only one issue with it. Got her the twin battery model & unfortunately due to arthritis she can't press the battery release clips hard enough to swap the battery. That being said she has yet to need the spare battery.
So my grandmother has quite a big house and has about five rooms with carpets. I didn't think this was for her as alot of the reviews say it's not really for carpets HOWEVER my grandmothers house doesn't have alot of traffic , no pets etc so it's generally quite clean. I was blown away by how good this hoover is on the carpets and actually how long the battery did last. The chamber also takes longer to fill up than I thought it would do. Granted if you are in a house with a family or pets etc then this is probably not ideal but for my Grandmother, the incredible ease of use is so handy and given there's not much traffic on her carpet this will be great. I was also really worried about the battery time but pleasantly surprised that I managed the 3 bigger rooms of the 5.I think the lack of wall mount is also a plus for her as didn't want any hassle installing one and its nice and easy to sit on charger.
I got this as a compliment to my Dyson V11. It probably won’t be the main vacuum for most households that have carpet but for households with just hard floors this is perfect. I bought it specifically for my two cats they keep dropping litter around the litter boxes so it’s ideal to clean up after them. Quick easy and light.
I love my shark wand vac. It’s so great for having to pick up after my kids. The thing sucks up cheerios like a champ if you pop off the floor head, the ease of use is amazing. I also have arthritis, and it’s light and great. Not a deep cleaner by any means, but fabulous for light cleaning. Great review.
Thank you so very much. None of this was unexpected but it does solidify this is absolutely not for me but that it could work very very well for my physically compromised mother. Thank you again 🤗 I'll be waiting for the Vertex Pro cordless lift away to come back in stock
Wow, amazing review. Very detailed. Excellent job doing it. From our own experience we have had this vacuum for over 6 months now. We are very happy with it and we concur on the fact that the battery life is a bit short but we have learned to manage around that. I have one additional CON to it and that is the two little floor rollers, get a lot of debris wrapped on them. Using a small flat screwdriver, they are easily popped out and cleaned but after doing this a few times you will notice that the rubber on the roller gets very rough. I called Shark and for $15 +S&H. They will send you a whole Power Nozzle since they do not sell this little rollers individually. I saw a few available on Amazon for around $6 but the metal spindle is different and I am sure is not compatible with the WS640. I left Feedback with the Shark Customer Service Rep to have these little rollers available. Hopefully Shark will have these parts available some day...
When I was looking up shop vacs, I saw that Prolux makes a wall mounted model that operates similar to a central air system, and there really aren't many videos of it other than those from the company. Ultimately, I went with the Rigid because I also needed an electric blower, but the Prolux still seems interesting and might be worth looking at in a future video
I like this little vac. Did you test carpet pickup on max power or regular mode? When I vacuum carpet upstairs, I use maximum power and it seems like it's sucking up dust that has settled below the carpet. I can go through with dyson or shark vertex first, then follow up with this little thing and still end up with full bin of compressed dust. The trigger for max power is my biggest complain about this vacuum. It requires a pretty firm press to activate and you end up squeezing the handle a bit too hard. Handle starts to get hot from batteries and your hand gets pretty uncomfortable. I would've loved for that trigger to just be a switch. From what I remember about timing it initially, it only lasted 7 minutes on full power but suction bump on carpet was big.
Hi! Amazing review, very informative. Do you know if this would be good for a shag rug? I have mostly hard floors but have 2 shag rugs and wondering if it would work...
Hope you find something that works well for you! We've looked at a lot of cordless vacuums right here: ruclips.net/p/PLgLomEiTb2Ba7v_B_RqTg6cSV9Ohm0fNU
Hey, since this vac's handheld upholstery performance is not that good. What would you recommend in that department? I think a small, not a full upright or stick vacuum, but a good handheld with enough power for upholstery would be handy for people who own a decent robot vacuum cleaner already...
I have had issues with it picking up cat litter and various other things at my house. Not sure why. Been looking to see if I can get a microfiber cloth brush replacement for the vacuum head but have had no luck there either. Unless buying a different powerfins unit is compatible with the wand
This sounds like the perfect vacuum for my RV travel trailer. All hard floors, limited room for bigger devices, tight corners. Battery shouldn't matter either with how small a trailer is.
I don't know why, but our dustbin compartment got bent or loose for whatever reason quite early in our use of this and it makes the most irritating whineing noise whenever we use it, only way to stop it is to hold the dustbin section of the vacuum tightly. Also, there were a few times when using it in handheld mode that we've had stuff fall out of the nozzle after turning it off, not sure if it's because the bin was simply too full or something. I'd agree with his comment about if you're looking for a good handheld cordless vac, you might not like this. And we definitely don't. Wish we had spent the money for something better.
i know they have a new self emptying system for this, any idea if you can just buy the self emptying component/if its compatiple with all their preview wandvac varieties, or is the self emptying system only compatiple with the specific new one it comes with?
Which do you think is the best lightweight handheld for for quick cleanups and dusting? I have a Miele C3 for deep cleaning and a Roborock S5 Max for everyday cleaning of my floors. I have mostly hardwood and some tile, only a few rugs. I would use it mostly for dusting surfaces, cleaning up small messes and stairs, and some corners the Roborock can’t reach. So I don’t need a huge bin or super long battery life. Filtration is critical for me, I have asthma and try to choose HEPA and complete seal always. The lack of HEPA on the shark W1 (and now this new model) is what has kept me from buying it, I’ve had it in my Amazon cart for months and can’t make up my mind haha .
Would this be something suitable to pair with a robovac which does the heavy work? I'm looking for something to get the stairs, nooks and crannies which the D7 can't get in to.
I came to YT looking for a review of this item and found you. I have since watched many of your video reviews across the board. Love what you do and how you do it! Anyway, came back to this one because I really want to make this purchase. I have terrible allergies and only needing to deal with the bin emptying once/month would be ideal for me. That being said, I’m actually confused if your review is good or bad. lol. I bought the Tineco A10-D Light and am terribly disappointed in its suction power so I’ve gravitated back to my old-faithful brand, Shark. (My full size shark is over 10 years old and still sucks as it did on day-1! Excellent!). Your review of this cordless Shark shows and talks about great suction but I notice in the comments many talking about the lack of suction power and a short battery life. Battery isn’t as big of an issue if it’s doing the job along the way (unlike the sad little Tineco I bought). I need for quick daily pickups, not entire home. Can you please advise further regarding suction/pick-up ability? I’m all vinyl plank flooring. Thank you!!! Edit…Oops, I’m looking at the wand vac with the self cleaning charger base.
I assumed just because it was Shark, it would be a 5-star review. "My bad", and good on you, Chris, for the honest review. I never understand the thing with handle weight on any of these stick vacs, but that's just little, old, fragile me. All the 'heavy' Dyson stick vacs I've used have been fine. But the bottom-heavy Shark P50 and battery-operated Tacony Supralite both felt very clumsy to me. Like the Dyson Omniglide (which I own), this one seems a bit too compromised.
Would you recommend this for someone who would primarily use it for stairs? I have room as that do a great job otherwise. But my stairs seem to be where all of my cat’s hair tends to collect. I’m torn between this model and the Dyson Micro.
Sadly the values in this review are not directly comparable with the values in the Dyson 1.5 Kg/Omniglide review. While there are direct competitors. So which one is the recommended one.
I have had this vac for a while, it has started screaming a high pitch sound. It comes from where the vacuum attaches to the wand, the gasket in there gets loose over time.
I don’t need a cordless vacuum to do an entire hour, but to do an entire kitchen + dining area. It’s like a spot clean. So their battery size x1.25 to x1.5 range with a bigger dust bin. Also do balance it better to stand upright along with an optional wall mount plus a little LED light on the powered brush head. It would sell like hot cakes. If the properly market their products, it’d do great especially if they have a lot of accessories. If they want to compete as a cheaper Dyson, the easier little things would help them. Shark always seems to have some annoyances that seemed like no one tested vacuums longer than a week in a real house. Maybe they can make a “Max version” of this.
If you're finicky about hair, dust, dirt getting into the top of the brush roll, Beware, it needs a tiny little 'Allen key' to get into it to clean. Does Not Come with purchase! Had to wait until my husband came home to see if he had one in his toolbox.🤷 Why did Shark make it impossible to get to everyday simple stuff, if they want you to maintain the product to uphold the warranty? Senseless. Other than that, it does the job, for a smaller apartment/house, with multiple pets. I like the ability to switch between stick and handheld. For the price, it's pretty good.
Have you ever considered reviewing the Shark Rotator DLX NV70? I believe it’s a newer model but it’s available for a very good price, it has a lot in common with the original shark vacuums, but I think it is well worth the good price. I would love if you would review it, I’d like to know your opinion before I make the purchase!
Hi, I love your channel, would you please do a test for top vacuum for shag carpet? I could not find anything on your channel for this and would love to hear your advice. While looking into getting this vac, we ended up buying the new Eufy Homevac H30. Similar in size, very light weight, and massive suction power, we think at least. It doesn't have a motorized floor head but it is also more of an actual hand vac when compared to the Shark. Highly recommend investigating!
I disagree with the power issue. We have 3 dogs, they all shed. I have no problem vacuuming a 1100 square. ft. home. The only issue I had found with this product was the dog hair getting stuck inside the brushroll compartment, with No way to clean it out. Shark designed this brush roll with some kind of special screws that absolutely cannot be removed. I was able to remove the plastic cover, and get some of the hair out, but, there was some I couldn't get to, without further opening the unit, and risk damaging it. Bad design on Shark's part. I've had other Shark corded vacuums with no issues as I did this time. I love the Wandvac though. Just wish I could have a Clean brush roll!😒
Perfect for apartment dwellers perhaps but having 3 dogs the hair weave alone makes me pass. Love Shark over ever other vac this just is ‘t for my family
Less than 9months of usage handle is super light and weak 🤦🏽♂️ to top it shark said this isn’t cover by the warranty they said looks accidental which it wasn’t, sometimes it gets stuck due to tiny wheels in front forces the handle little by little, in time it broke… so take 6:08 your time not always the most expensive is the best one 😢
Heads up. The battery charge is infuriatingly pathetic: 10 minutes of charge gave me 50 seconds of usage. 1 hour of charge gave me 3 minutes, 25 seconds.
check your filter. if it gets too dirty the vac loses too much power and stops working quick. you need to clean it monthly. also make sure the dust bin is empty.
No, it's not. I got it on sale for $170 and it's great for quick daily pick ups and small jobs on hardwood floors and rugs. I love the grab and go concept, light weight, and simplicity. For carpet get something else with more power and battery life. My only complaint so far is an uncomfortable bulky handle. Makes my hand tired pretty fast. Otherwise it's great for what it is.

Ease of use is obviously a must.

Shark just copy Dyson, then make it cheaper, but not as good. Gone back to Dyson which yes is more expensive but much better long term.
For that price I can get a Dyson V8 which could totally crush this in any metric possible. Hard pass
Dyson is $400 and this is around half that?
Way to expensive for what it is.

This thing is a huge waste of money!
