      Hi! Thanks so much for the great videos. My question is that I didn't understand the difference between #2 - getting the banking transactions and #7 - getting the statement from the bank. Thanks again!

    I recently found your channel. I am a degreed accountant including an MBA in accounting. If half of the bookkeepers out there are like you then my job is a 100% easier. You are absolutely great.

    The Excel sheet is absolutely genius. Thank you so much- I've been wondering how I best could track these things across multiple clients.

    Love your videos, have a question. Still trying to figure out bookkeeping so this is probably a silly one, But, for July you have input checks marked off as done but you mention it is the middle of the month. Are these checks from the previous month? I guess my broader question is when do clients generally expect you to have their previous months books completed and reconciled? Especially in the case where you are having to go collect paper checks? Thanks

      Hi Wildland! Glad you are enjoying Morgan's videos! Honestly, this is a question you will want to discuss with your client. Each client will have their own specific needs and may need you to reconcile at different times or in some cases for new clients you may be reconciling for past months/years when you get started. (That being said...monthly is the norm)

    Thank you Morgan for your videos! you have inspired me to start my own bookkeeping business. I am still in the planning stage and finishing out the certification in QB. I wanted to ask, I am not sure if there is a video about this already but, how do you categorize your clients as small, medium or large clients? Is it based on how much they make, the types of services you offer them or how many hours you estimate you will work on their account? Just wanted some ideas so that I know how to price a client and what to offer them within that budget. Thanks a lot for all your helpful insight

    Great Inspiring videos. When you refer to checks, is that A/P? If the client mails them are they giving you copies or a list? Thank you your videos inspired me to learn Qb's

    I have a reconciling problem since my new credit card has rewards that creates double transactions to show the reward was earned and its making me not want to use it anymore.
    (It's a US Bank cash plus and seems to give 1% cash back on the initial transaction and then adds another "Thank you" transaction that gives the rest for whatever category i chose for bonus points.)
    It gets further complicated bc my credit card payments also have the words "thank you" so i can't really make a rule for it.

    Hi there! I’m really glad I found your videos as I am starting a business. I do have a client now, but I’m curious to know how you handle year end? Can you file the tax return or does it need to be filed by a CPA. I’m assuming a CPA; however, do you use one in particular? If you need the CPA, what all do you give them at the end of each year or do you have the client do that part. Your time in answering this question is very much appreciated.
    Thank you.
    Tara

    I LOVE your use of spreadsheets!! I am definitely an excel girl myself and find things to be so much easier and smoother when they're organized in tables and lists. LOL This was a very helpful video to really see how each activity is broken down and how much time they take.

    Hi FinePoints, how do you get the check stubs (checks written from the client to vendors) and sales receipts from remote clients? To sum it up, what is different about your monthly processes for remote clients? Also I wondered how you deal with clients who have petty cash accounts? We obviously cannot track or reconcile cash purchases when we don’t have the cash with us but it makes more work for our client, for example, for a small business owner they may be the one who has to enter the purchases with cash and also reconcile the account, which may make them wonder why they pay you and instead do the work themselves. Looking forward to your perspective! Thank you.

    Question, so if you enter checks do you still enter a bill for that check to match the statements?

    Are you working in Excel then QBs? I like the idea of notes in the client file but not clear if it’s in Excel or QBs. Thanks

  • @corimehnert4853

    Total noob question, but when you say 'enter checks,' do you mean checks that the client has written to vendors but not sent yet? Do you then mail them out on behalf of the client?

    • @FinePointsBookkeeping
      @FinePointsBookkeeping  4 года назад +1

      Yes, you're right! For this client, their office mails them, but it depends on the client.

      @@FinePointsBookkeeping as in they hand write the checks, then you enter into QB, then mail?

    • @FinePointsBookkeeping
      @FinePointsBookkeeping  3 года назад

      @@tracys6183 yes! That's how they do it, but a better best practice may be for the bookkeeper to print them from QB.
