- Today I discuss how my log supply is affected by the size log that my Japa 365 Pro requires. Logs over 14" (35cm) must be bucked and split with my Super Splitter. I would love to have a commercial splitter to help me process these large rounds but that is just a dream now. Someday!

2 words WOLF RIDGE 13k you can watch your grand kids split wood with that splitter. Lifetime purchase done, stop messing around stop coughing up spinal fluid.
Today watching Prime Video, I had Food Safari - Fire come on. It had many chefs using wood in cooking. Also it had speciality charcoal. I do know you want to produce the best looking firewood. So there must be some ugly stuff. Have you ever thought of asking your customers if any were interested in charcoal? I am just thinking you must have a bunch of scrap. Also then you could have tree trimmers drop off wood for free and you can turn some into firewood and trimmings into charcoal. Also you could sell customers charcoal so you have a summer business when folks are buying less wood! Enjoy watching your journey. All the best. At the least, the Fire show could show you how customers use the wood in cooking or you could just enjoy the show!
Hey Joe, love the channel. Here is a short term solution to your big round issue. Use your tractor bucket. Roll the rounds into the bucket, then lift the up to the table height of your super splitter. You will still have to transfer to the splitter, but you won’t have to do any bending and lifting. It will save your back a ton of strain
Or I could use an Eastonmade Axis! Joe
@@ohiowoodburner Yea he must have missed the very end. I would have said the same.
I was about to comment that you need something like a Eastonmade Axis wood splitter but I guess Andrew had it before me! Congrats. It will be a great help for your not so young anymore back.
It sure does look great in the woodyard!
@@ohiowoodburner and now you can have two splitters going at one time with a helper. Double productivity!
It's amazing how fast you get use to having a piece of equipment like the tractor especially when you don't have it available for a day. You made the right choice on tractor first then a commercial log splitter because you need the tractor to get the wood to the biggest splitter.
I was confused the whole video. I'm thinking, this isn't Joe! Haha good one.
Must have been my haircut!
I became curious when daughter was pushing him with his back hurting. Such a good entertaining video.
@@strayfiftynine9151 yes it was entertaining 👍
Wonderful can't wait for Sunday and part two and I feel like you made a great decision going with a eastonmade axis
Thanks WW. I will tell the whole store on Sunday! Joe
A huge congratulations to you Joe. It’s well deserved
OH! You two conspirators, playing on my emotions like that! That was really fun, thanks. :)
I loved the cameo of Camera Girl. You should make that a recurring theme- the disembodied voice of encouragement from behind the camera! Ha ha
This was my youngest daughter. There isn't much encouragement coming from her. She is all business. lol
Nice way to do a teaser. You had me going I've pulled my back doing firewood rounds I had no business doing but the wood was free.
Can't beat the price of free wood!
Hi Joe - it's Big Rodders in Ireland. Nice to see the Head of Video Production back, not only controlling the camera but trying her best to control you also. I can empathise with your back problem as I have suffered also for 30 years in addition to chronic knee issues, both of which determine my log splitting operations. Looking forward to your next video.
Oh Joe! I was interested in listening to your musings. Thanks for your honesty, humility and quiet sense of humor. I’m sorry about your back - (and you must take time to heal otherwise that single innocent tweak can potentially turn into a chronic issue. IMO) I actually laughed out loud at the end. You crack me up! Blessings to you and your family .
Thanks so much Elaine and it is great to be able to share all of this with you. I hope you are staying well! Joe
And congratulations on waking up to find that you have 10,000 subscribers. A nice milestone, but it’s only going to get bigger and better from here. 👍. Have... a GREAT day
Thank you so much Brian. I am very grateful for everything you guys have done. Joe
Wow can't wait for the next video to see what happens, another awesome video Joe hopefully your back is feeling better
It feels great today laying on the couch. But when I stand up... ugh
huff puff . " i just " huff puff" need some time " huff puff " to stretch "
lol. too funny.
on a serious note. i want to thank you. i am using your videos to try and reach one of my employees to get him into the mindset of taking over a chunk of the company. so thank you and keep up the good work.
Awesome post SMPB. Good luck with your employee. Joe
Oh wow nice congrats on the cool splitter I’d say you’ve been waiting for it for a while but right on now your all set.
Now if I could only stand up straight!
Joe, your videos are excellent. I think what's not mentioned when you mention your success, is your positive attitude. I have a full time job and run a small skidsteer business on the side. I am licensed and insured like you. I can't tell you how much attitude and courtesy play into winning a job. I get a lot of jobs after others price them and give the customer the "I don't get out of bed for less than $1200" attitude. Keep up the good work. You've got me seriously pondering expanding my realm of services.
Thanks for the nice comment Keith. Joe
Congratulations Joe! Your gonna like that EastonMade, we have a 9-16 and couldn’t be happier.
Can't wait!
When you sat up, I was thinking to myself...he needs one of those eastonmade splitters that lift the log. You got me. Lol😂😂
LOL... I am glad this came off well!
Be sure you upload you video so we can watch before we go to church!!!! 😁
We found your channel a few weeks ago and we sit here all eve watching past videos! ❤!!
I'm 68 and my back has seen better days. Now I'm in constant pain so I still do things around my property but slower.
I’m only 43 but I’ve been diagnosed with a back of someone 20 years older I’m in constant pain I still do every thing I need to do but it’s at my pace not someone elses🙂
I'm still hurting today Jake. I hope this gets better. Hope you can find relief. Joe
I just emailed some of my contacts. Your up for an Emmy on that one! Lol. I got a good chuckle out of your video. Good luck! Quality equipment pays off.
LOL Thanks for the comment stcif. Joe
Morning Joe, I couldn't be happier for you, Andrew seems like a real quality guy and so do you, you're both what we over here on my side of the Pa line call "good people" and I enjoy seeing good people prosper.
I think yinz guys are good people too Jason!
Love watching young entrepreneur's grow in business. I recently found your channel searching for a commercial wood processor. It always excites me to see people step out of their comfort zones to try to make themselves successful. I started my own business over 15 years ago in my early 30's buying my first truck, and here we are 15 years later with 12 trucks moving freight in the western region. I was always told "with no risk, there are no rewards" and this is so true. One will never know how successful they could be unless they try. Keep up the good work Sir!
Great story Justin. Do you follow Dave Ramsey’s Entreleadership program?
Thanks for the nice post Justin. It is great to have people like you around this channel. Joe
@@brianfletcher7942 No I do not, might have to check it out.
The ending was super awesome. 👍🏻✅
Don't feel bad joe, I'm 37 doing firewood with a bad back. I was in a truck accident back in 2010 and my back has been messed up ever since. And yes age is also catching up with me. But my thoughts are firewood is some of the best excerise. Awesome video can't wait for the next one.
Thanks Andy! Joe
CONGRATS on 10k subs!!!
Thank you so much 😀
That was a great video. I know how it feels to lift the big rounds. I can't wait to see you run the axis. That is a nice machine.
Thanks Tom!
Joe I know how you back feels I just had a fusion and rods put in my back at 65 years old.My son and I are still delivering firewood long recovery trying slowly to get back into it Mark from Windham Ohio.
Great town Mark. We used to go to that gun shop next to the turnpike when I was younger. Not sure if it's still there. Joe
Oh yeah baby! I saw your comment on Andrew’s video yesterday so I knew you were watching Eastonmade! I figured it was a matter of time! Production just went up!!
Full speed ahead Judd!
I use the same Unloader from Harbor Freight on my deliveries. I made a back push plate and sides for mine so the wood doesn't get stuck. Good video!
Best $30 I have ever spent
@@ohiowoodburner I hear ya! People love it everytime they see me use it.
I feel your pain, since I hit 60 my body says no alot. Had a backhoe for 10 years added a processor dyna sc14 2 1/2 years ago. More on the way. Trying to make firewood fun again. Congrats and enjoy on the new equipment.
Thanks Jim!
Fellow Ohioan here. Way to go, Joe! The axis is an awesome machine. Love your channel.
Thanks, and I love your name!
@@ohiowoodburner I, too, have a Dolmar 7900. It is definitely the best saw that I have ever run. That is how I got the name.
I was screaming at you the whole time Easton Made Axis!!! You are such goof! So happy for you and I would almost guarantee you won't be sorry.
LOL Zeke! I'm loving it big time!
I knew there had to be a catch at the end! You are spending that money now! Congrats!
Full speed ahead!
Joe, I feel your pain. Lower back pain is no fun. Obviously, if you had your loader you'd pick up the large ones and use the super splitter. In the short term, could you build a cradle / table to lift large logs onto and them buck them with rounds still on the table which would match the height of your super splitter. Trying to figure a way to process the large logs and use the equipment you have. Otherwise, trade the yapa in and go all in with a larger processor. Easy decision right! It's not but think about the future of your 1 man operation. If you're out of commission how will you maintain your customers? If I see anything else out there I'll let you know. My 62 yr back relies on Aleve every night. Good luck!
Hey Joe Hang in there. I like the sneak preview. It was a must ,if you go down ..then what ? Be safe and be smart ! Thanks again. Craig. Pa.
I'm hearing you Craig. I gotta watch myself. Joe
Thanks for the videos.
If you would have gotten the splitter first you would have been complaining about not getting the tractor.
I don't know if you planned the end of the video but I'm glad your daughter left it in. It was both entertaining and a reality check. Splitting wood 🪵 can be fun but it's also work and can be dangerous. You can hurt your back, which I have done in the past. I felt your pain.
Thanks again for your videos. They are both informative and entertaining. GO BUCKEYES!!!
pretty hilarious, great job on the tease!
LOL Thanks Bonnie! Joe
lol omg, that was a great video. I also wish i was near to give you a hand, but now you have a splitter. Enjoy!
I can't wait to put it to use!
JT, table made from existing logs and possibly a few 2x. When your tractor is there.. will save yourself alot.
Nice touch with your daughter and the truck bed..Joe your doing it right.
Just table the big rounds so they roll to you. Hint hint.
I sold wood years ago and have a Central Boiler wood furnace, so I have cut my far share of log length wood. I used a Timberwolf log splitter and was happy with that splitter right up till I hit 50 years old. I’m now 60 and no longer cut and split wood. The older you get, the more important it is to have the right splitter. The super splitter is not good for older people, to much lifting. Your other splitter is good but to run it efficiently you need your tractor to move the logs to the splitter and it has its limitations with diameter of log it can take. If I was still doing log length wood I would consider buying a Wallenstein WP 845 processor. I would also get a tall conveyor with a trailer set up. Winching, cutting, splitting and stacking all in one motion and never touching the log makes sense to me. Enjoy your channel Dennis
I agree. It seems even though a splitter can lift a log there is still a lot of muscle needed to move, adjust etc. Conveyors are nice. Joe
Was just looking at your channel numbers and you’re coming up on the channel’s first birthday in March and you are 17.7K views away from 1M total views on your channel. That is rapid, tremendous growth and a testament to the hard work and integrity you exhibit in your life. And you’re only 40 subs away from 10k subscribers. Cheers!
Thanks for the nice post Brian. This has been a joy. I had no idea we would grow like this! Joe
Can't wait to see the new splitter in action!!!
Same here Dave!
I'm on the couch watching you because I was kind of run over my first day of work when 12yo in an orchard. My leg does not always want to work now at 55 and my MRI was bad enough to get surgery but I don't have insurance. I think my workers insurance from 40 years ago should pay but I am in limbo. Best advice is for you to stay lean and you won't be lifting the flab all the time.
Good advice Gordon. Hope you can get all that figured out. I put on 30lbs caring for my dad and haven't been able to lose it. Joe
You had me going! But, throwing shade on your nephew ("family first"), "we'll edit this out", "I have to go to practice", then stretching out sideways in the truck!, I knew something was fishy, but it was still a surprise!! Enjoyed the prank!
LOL The back injury is for real. I'm sitting on ice. Hurting. Joe
Joe that should take the game to a whole new level and help that back for sure. If it wasn't for the log lifter on my splitter not sure I would make it either. Take care brother.
I agree. The log lift is the key. Joe
Awesome Joe! I have been coveting an axis for some time now. You better make lots of videos showing it in action!
That's the plan Mike! Can't wait
Dreams do come true. I like your interactions with camera operator.

@@ohiowoodburner Just want to say really enjoy your channel. Starting my own firewood and saw business. Alot of inspiration from your channel. Keep up the good work cant wait for next video. Have a good one.
I seriously got chill bumps and teared up for joy for you when Andrew provided you with your brand new Eastonmade Axis vertical splitter with the log lift and conveyor. What a blessing it will be. I hope you will make part two before Sunday or at least do a live for the 10k subscribers to provide the back (no pun intended) story. Now that Andrew has purchased Bells processors from his dad and they will be branded as Eastonmade processors, I see you also having one of those in the near future. Great creating for the theatrical ruse, but when Emily said she had to leave in 20 minutes for school under the weather conditions, I knew that was not true😊! I initially deduced that you were borrowing Adam’s Axis but seeing the unused paint on the wedge, it confirmed that Andrew is demoing one for you as he did with Daniel Arms and Buckin’ Billy Ray Smith. Congratulations, Joe. The anticipation is maddening to hear the story. 👍👍👍
Great comment Brian. I felt the same when I first saw it in my presence. Eastonmade is an awesome company and Andrew is top shelf. Joe
Haha, great job. Well played!
Thanks MT! Joe
I’m so happy for you.
New subscriber Here. Like that super split it’s fast I have a Troy built and have done splitting videos on my channel and have to speed up the video because it’s so slow . Nice job
Thanks Aaron. I have a Troy Bilt 27 ton that collects dust. I never use it anymore. Joe
Nice! That splitter will be perfect for you!👍🏻
I think so too!
Bahahaha! That ending cracked me up.
This was a lot of fun to do. Except for the back pain!
IMO, you got the right one. I am amazed at what I see this machine doing on RUclips. I look forward to pt 2 - The tractor was a good choice though.....
Can't wait to show it off Bob! Joe
I’m happy to see the new equipment, but I’d still recommend you wear a back support when dealing with the lifting. There are so many good and inexpensive choices. It will help support your lower back and remind you to use your legs. Good to see you growing! I knew something was up when your daughter was feigning her impatience. 😂
If you knew here you would know she wasn't joking. I was just glad she didn't induce me with any weapons LOL
Well played Joe! 😊👍🏻
Taking a bow! LOL
Joe,
Hope your back feels better quickly! I definitely would recommend a splitter with a log lift so you only have to role the log with a PV and then the machine will do the lifting for you! Remember take care of your body!
How bout an Eastonmade Axis? LOL
Common as in Come On Joe, I’m 68 and still lifting or vertically splitting rounds, if over 24” just noodle it in half. You can always get a splitter for your Bobcat and not have to lift at all 😏
🪵🪵🪵🪓🔥👍🤠
I'm hearing you. It's just an off day for me!
I love the big firewood adds up faster I just cut up some 20” ash
I have to admit. The first thing I thought of was the Eastonmade Axis. Been following them for a while now. I think you can't go wrong with one of those in your wheel house. 👍
Can't wait to watch it contribute to OWB!
...I'm speechless joe lol.
As am I Mr. Easton!
Y doesn't he buck in half ?
Watching you while waiting on a sore back to heal after pulling it while moving firewood.
I'm still hurting. This was filmed on Monday.
Way to go Joe! Orange and Blue! You won't regret it. Great video.
Thanks John!
Great choice !!!
Awesome day! Thanks Kev
hey Joe now that you have the tractor I recommend using a high production hydraulic log splitter for those nasty rounds. It needs to have a hydraulic lift table to pick up those rounds. Bring the log right up to the lift table with the tractor, buck em right in the air to keep the saw out of the dirt, and roll/ pickaroon the big rounds onto the lifting table. Over time when you keep sawing in the same spot a huge mound of saw dust piles and you splitter is downhill of the pile, making it even easier to roll the big rounds
HAhahaha great ending Joe
Way to go Joe! Orange and blue! Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it!
OWB Joe! Hope your back feels better!
I hope so too! It is still bothering me. This cold weather isn't helping any!
So happy for you.
Thanks David. I couldn't have done it without people like you.
You know what!?
I was just about to put up a comment on checking out the Eastonmade Axis wood splitter!!!
This is better than a thriller...!
God Bless!!
LOL Pierre! I'm glad you enjoyed it. This was fun making but the back issue is unfortunately real! Joe
Your daughter is a trooper
Can’t wait for the next video! Chiropractor’s really do work, especially for what you do every day.
I could make one a rich person right now!
@@ohiowoodburner Trust me when I say it’s worth it, I found myself taking pain reliever for my back almost everyday and after I went to a chiropractor for a little bit I very rarely take pain reliever anymore. The first week sucked because of how bad my back was but after that I felt way better. I really can sympathize with you about the pain but for me it is definitely worth the money afterwards! Feel better!!!
Ha been there.. I have learned to use the loader to get a higher working level. We fill the bucket and split into somthing. It really help the back. That is the normal size and smaller I like. Two foot is just too heavy and slows you down way down. We have to crack them vertically. The only thing I would think could be a picking pile of pain lol. The good thing is it get better when they get smaller pieces lol. Maybe a good helper lol.
I hired a HS boy yesterday to carry my slack. He was a hard worker. But, these kids have a lot of irons in the fire. Joe
I was thinking about the Axis while watching. Good vid!
It's not a dream after all Mike!
I love it. Your daughter keeps on rolling. Get up dad, Bring me to school. Joe- "I'm dying here"
This was my younger daughter. She is pretty demanding.
You chose wisely. That will work great in your custom firewood business. When that is too small you can always trade in for a big Bell 4000 or 8000 which is now owned by Easton Made! Congratulations.
I wonder if I would ever get that big? Seems way too far to go for me. Joe
I certainly hope we get a video of you using your new machine on Thursday. Don’t make us wait til Sunday please and thx .
They way things are now Sunday may not happen! I can hardly move to get off the couch. Joe

Hi Joe. If your Dream is real, The Eastomade Axis is the best Splitter for controlling the size of the split pieces and you are in the upright position when Splitting. Your back will thank you. FYI, at my age, 70, I use an adjustable Elastic back support when doing heavy work. Good luck.
Good morning Joe your a smart guy it's a lot easier on your body to split the big rounds in half or thirds with a maul or splitting ax
Think with my head, not my back! Joe
Ha ha. Awesome segue! Love the Axis!
Thanks Chuck! It was fun to make for sure!
As someone who suffers from lower back pain, you did a good acting job. It was convincing right up to the point you sprung up off of the tailgate like a spring chicken. 😂😂
Eastonmade has a new Kubota Diesel motor option on his large splitter that would do you good :)
Any motor would be good enough for me with an Eastonmade! Joe
Look into Wolf Ridge manufacturing! They got a number of log splitters with a log lift on it!
They make very nice machines for sure Rudy. Joe
Work smarter not harder. Keep up the great videos.
Lift with my head, not my back!
No Joe...I don't think your Dreaming...just setting us up...LOL I love to process and sell firewood...glad I don't have to rely on it for a living though. Aleve works well for my pains, but I usually take the next day off when I overdo it. Anyway, now that you have the tractor, if some of those large logs have a straight section(min 8'6" long) you may be able to trim them up and sell them to a sawmill. Even if you just get pallet grade price, you don't have much work in them. Your tractor can help maneuver and load on your trailer for delivery. Just a thought to market some of your over sized logs. Although I think I already know was coming down, still looking forward to Part 2. Enjoyed the show!
THanks for the post Steve. As for now I need all the logs I can get. joe
That wood you're loading up for delivery doesn't look very dry. The ends and the split sides are all freshly done. Even if the tree was dead will it be dry wood?
The customer was aware. This is for an outside patio. Joe
Awesome joe I love my 5-11 !!!!
Great machine!
I see the load handler in the truck. Do you like it? I don’t remember seeing any video that you gave the plus and minus of it. Looking forward to seeing the Eastonmade axis. Congrats.
I have one on my truck. Well worth the money.
Love the Loadhandler. Best $30 I ever spent. It makes appearances in some of my past vids.
Nice one! 👍
Thanks! 👍
Ha! I love the little glimpse right at the end!
Seriously though, take any and all measures you can to save your back. Including spending more money!
Damaging yourself to the point of permanent incapability does you and anyone who loves and depends on you no favours at all.
Look to maximise the use of your Bobcat and other machines with all this, let the hydraulics do the lifting!
Nothing ages you more than a bad back or a bum knee. Joe
Do you know about a
"Pickaroon"?
I've split less than 5,000 cords with Super sSplit. I lifted the wood with a pickaroon.
Peavey Manufacturing up in Maine still makes the best wooden handle pick.
I am glad you didn't edit it out. We are all human and keeping it in makes it more of a real video
Thanks John. My daughter is in charge of production and editing! lol
