I grew up there in the 60's and 70's. We live near the wash and so I did a lot of hiking there looking for critters.

I have some good memories of growing up in Sunland and then later in Tujunga (both in the 50s and 60s). I left in 67-68 and only returned when I came back to visit my family. It was a nice place to grow up back in that time period.

Thanks for your nice comment BucksDaughter. It still is a nice place just gone through a facelift like all other places. Still has the cleanest air in LA county

I lived in Tujunga in 1964-65 graduating from Verdugo. Joined the Army and returned in 191 living in Sunland. Left again in 1974. I retired in 2013 and moved to Panama, Ecuador, Nicaragua and past 5 yeas lived in Costa Rica. I rent a 7 bed/5 bath house with 4 car garage on 23 acres here for $153 a month. Electric runs between $12 and $15. Actually reminds me a lot of Sunland-Tujunga, with steeper roads, taller mountains, bigger trees, and even better weather. And a total population of about 9000. Should anyone happen to know of a Ricard Porter there tell him to contact me .Thanks!
In the lat 9 years and the 4 countries, I have never paid more than $180 a month rent for a 3 bed/2 bath house. No credit checks, no deposits. Now the bad part, totally unfurnished. But in Nicaragua you can get a cook-maid working 60 hours a week for $80 a month. Have her do your shopping and she will save you more than her salary. For those on a really tight budget Room and Board is available in Nicaragua for $40 a month. That's breakfast and dinner, you're on your own for lunch.

Hi Ron. Good for you man. That cost of living is cheap. Today, a 3 bedroom 2 bath home in Sunland-Tujunga goes for almost a million dollar. A one bedroom apartment is $1,600 a month. I do not know Mr. Porter but if I ever come across him, I’ll pass your message to him. Best wishes for you

It used to be a great place to live.

Hi Thomas. It still is. Homes are all being renovated, demographic is changing, it has the cleanest air in LA county and pretty flat with single family homes near the hills. I love this town.

Back again. High light of 4th of July Parade was the fire truck spraying the crowd to cool off along with the K Mart Blue Light Special flat bed!

It’s a small parade but people of Sunland-Tujunga seem to like it. LA city councilmen participate also

Lived in Sunland for over 25 years before we moved. Where are the pictures of the graffiti, gang signs, trash, traffic and fires? Sorry the Sunland of my past is gone. Home less, drug users and perverts have taken over the once city you are showing You can't go back and I won't go back to there.

Looks good from a distance. Lived there for 25 years and moved far away and that's why it's looks good from a distance! Another small community that was ruined by the City of Los Angeles.

Thanks for your comment. I don't know how long ago you lived in Sunland but I walk in the streets a few times a week and it is going through a msjor face-lift because a lot of the residents or new home-buyers do major remodeling of houses.

Hi Ann Marie. Thanks for the comment. You can still see some homeless sporadically in Sunland park but the numbers have significantly been reduced and removed from streets

After looking at your collection of nazi war footage, I'm not surprised anymore. The only surprising thing is how you got into the KKK and the proud boys with a mexican name.

One channel you appear to like since you are subscribed to it is very illuminating... "Why I support The Charlottesville white nationalist rally! Pt1" from David Carroll.
How does a mexican become a white supremacist?
