Wow, what great innovation and thought. It’s is apparent that even in 2024 you continue to evolve the product. I just placed an order and it was nice to come across your video. Thanks for listening to the end-user.
I was one of the very first buyers of the original design many many years ago. Matter of fact that was back in the day when he was pretty much building the units himself and I think he had a helper. I still have all 3 units I bought from him. Product has been very very good. I will buy this new version in March when it comes out
I was about to purchase the original after spending countless hours researching for THE one rack for my needs. This one addresses all of the concerns I had with the original, and I can't wait to buy it. Added myself to the list!
It's a shame the purchaser of your patents couldn't deliver on the upgraded rack being less expensive than the original. The new one is quite a bit more expensive than the current One-up rack and at over $1,100 with shipping (for two bikes) is a bit too much to consider an upgrade imo. I do love my One-up!
Got pretty excited about this, Googled the rack, don't worry, it's only going to be sold for $499! Only $230 more than he says in the video! What a crock!
This is an old video from 2017 of the first prototype. Things have evolved substantially since that time. The design and patents have been licensed to QuikRStuff.com and I am still involved in the design process only. Sorry for the delay and confusion I might have caused, but the good news is, the racks are coming off the line and we are all happy to be executing the next version. It's been a long road, but finally, the light at the end of the tunnel is in view. #AllThingsComeToThoseWhoWait
Corky Phillips yeah a lot has evolved including the price! One of your selling points was that your new rack would be cheaper than the original 1up USA rack when in fact it is significantly more expensive! You strung people along all of these years, what a total scam!
I love the improvements on the mach 2. I'm considering the Super Duty Single for my ebike. I would love to see an option where I could use a ramp on one side. As a woman with a heavier ebike, I don't have the upper body strength to lift the bike up. I could see where allowing the tire holder on one side to unfold down to the ground in the unlocked position would allow me to use a ramp to load the bike. You have a great product here.
Cal, I hope to support you soon. Please get the Mach 2 out this spring! I don’t want to buy the original rack now after reading your story and how your business was stolen from you.
Brandon Jacobs you’re going to be waiting a very long time...He said the rack was going to be available in “a couple of months” back at the end of 2016.
The original is a very fine bike rack and I really like using the two I've bought. Something is very enjoyable about using a very well designed product. Your new M2 seems to be some fine tuning of an excellent design.
If you liked the original Quik-Rack, then you will love the new Quik-Rack Mach 2. We addressed all the issues that we had with the old rack and even lowered the price to $269. You can read more at quikrack.com.
I've seen the original racks on cars driving around but never seen for myself. Today a owner of 1up rack said there was a new one coming named Mac 2. Well found it was Mach 2. I like the old / original rack how stout it looks. I own a heavy E-bike and not 100% sold on the Mach2 thinner design (Thinner box that mounts receiver to racks). How will the Mach2 do with lateral & twisting forces say while getting on and off ramps for freeways. IE... 50lb bike, off ramp from freeway speed +60mph left and right forces will be great. New price is great but not if you don't have them to sell.
I'm very excited to review the new quick rack! I was very concerned about the lack of a locking pin in the hitch receiver so this new version has already addressed the main reason I didn't buy the original version.
I was looking at the original QR and was asking questions about it, and that's when I learned about the Mach 2. Is the M2 all aluminum construction? I see that the wheel rollers are black. Are they plastic? The website says that the M2 is 30% lighter. What is its weight? What I like about the original QR is that without a hitch pin you can adjust how close you want the rack to be to the bumper. I want a rack that hugs the bumper when folded up.
The rollers will be aluminum not plastic. The weight of the single Quik-Rack Mach 2 is 19 pounds. On average for all racks the weight is around 30% less. The new Quik-Rack Mach 2 is even closer to the vehicle than the old Quik-Rack was. It also has more ground clearance then the old Quik-Rack. You can learn more at quikrack.com.
I saw this while researching the 1up - I noticed there were 2 sites and when I questioned the one site about this upgrade, I was told directly that someone ‘must be using their old website’ and that there were no plans for any upgrades for this year or next and they had no knowledge regarding the features I was requesting. I would much prefer this version to the old. As an amputee, I need certain features that many would consider bonuses. But I am obviously concerned given the difference in information received.
Corky Phillips thanks for that. Will I also be able to use the tire locks and will I need an additional lock for any add on units and will all these be available from one source?
Good catch on the two websites. It sounds like the new rack will be available in December at www.1upusa.com, and someone who used to work with Cal Phillips at 1up is now running the other site with a dash in the url and selling the prior version of the rack. Not sure of the whole story but too bad about the feud.
I signed up on the Newsletter page, do you have any I idea when I can get one for purchase? also if I buy the 1 bike rack for a 1.25' hitch, will I be able to add on 2 more add-on's totalling 3 bikes?
I understood that this is 3 years old video, but at the beginning you mentioned the price is $269. When I visit the website as suggested, it is $579, the price went up by more than 100% in 3 years? Why?
I emailed Cal and sent message through the website, no reply. Can you please tell me if this is ever going to be made? Or should I just get a different rack?
Found out about your racks after doing some online research ... will buy the Mach II when available. I signed up for the mailer alert. Wasn't looking forward to spend $500+ on a rack when it's usually just my bike ... will add the extra bike rack when I need it!
Hey Cal, what's the dimension on that hitch attached hitch pin? I have a invisi-hitch for Subaru and I'm worried the mach 2 wont fit since the pin will hit my bumper
The captive pin system can be removed if there is no space for it on your vehicle. The anti-wobble hitch bar will still keep the rack tight and secure. If you want then you could use a Velcro strap like the old Quik-Rack.
I just left a vm and sent a email asking when the new rack would be available to order. The website is indicating it is "sold out". It would appear the new company is not ready for "prime time" yet?
The new Quik-Rack Mach 2 has not been sold yet. The sold out is what shows on the shopping cart until we have that product to sell. The Quik-Rack Mark 2 complete product line as shown on our website is currently in production. We have a list that you can sign-up to be notified when it is available. The list is on the About/Newsletter page on our website www.quikrack.com/about/newsletter We have over 2000 people and counting that are on the list so far. The first customers on the list will receive their rack in order by date from the first production run. We are hoping to have it available for everyone to purchase by March, then we will remove the list from our website. Cal Phillips
Ok, I was about to order the 1 up rack. I just purchased the quietkat electric bike. It weighs about 70-75lbs easily. Will your heavy duty one support the quietkat?
@@pmerioles don't be sorry. I don't blame you at all. I am on the same fence, whether to wait a little longer or go 1up. Problem is, i've waited a long time already and who knows when/if this will even come out
19Poolshark81 I would go with the 1up. It has never failed me and my bike weighs 68-70 lbs. it is a very solid trailer and I love the locking abilities.
@@pmerioles I am pretty convinced. I love the ideas of this and Cal seems like adecent guy and a brilliant inventor. But, I can't wait forever and there's just not enough accurate info coming out of quikrack. For 3 years, they've been saying it is almost time to release and testing has all been done. and yet, nothing. It's not reassuring, that's for sure. Whereas 1UP is tried and true-tested

Bryan Wachs it’s 2020 and still nothing. Talk about over promising and under delivering. That’s not a good sign of how your business will operate if it ever does happen. If you can’t even deliver on a product consumers are interested in then how are we to believe that you will support anyone that would dare buy your product and has a problem?
Corky Phillips the only thing that’s changed is that you’re now taking people’s money for preorder but there’s still no signs the actual product is available.
We are still waiting for a few more parts to come in from our manufacturer before we can start shipping to customers. We won’t start shipping until spring 2019. Sorry for the delay, the Quik-Rack Mach 2 is a new product and it takes time to get up to production speed. Cal Phillips
The new Quik-Rack Mach 2 shown in the video is an early prototype. We plan on making a new video soon. You can see our latest much stronger design at quikrack.com
The Quik-Rack Mach 2 Heavy-Duty has a weight limit of 65 pounds per bike. That is more than the original Quik-Rack weight limit of 50 pounds. You can see more at quikrack.com.
Hi Cal, Thanks for the reply. I have another question. I want to purchase the Quik-Rack Mach 2 Heavy-Duty rack and an add on for it. I don't see a Heavy-Duty add on which I would need as both bikes are over 50Lbs. I was trying to avoid the Heavy-Duty 2-Bike Quik-Rack Mach 2 as I won't always be carrying 2 bikes. Is there, or are there plans for a Heavy-Duty add on?
There is no Heavy-Duty Add-On. The Heavy-Duty relates to the 2 inch 2-Bike Quik-Rack Mach 2 for 2 inch receivers only. All new Quik-Rack trays can support bikes that weigh up to 65 pounds, Heavy-Duty or not.
I'd love to support cal and the new rack. But I have been waiting since January and now told it would be next summer. The 1up is nice but rather buy from the original maker of the product. I don't want to wait another 6-8 months though. So kuat is looking like the way to go. Their headquarters is in my home town
hello @Corky Phillips could you confirm the new release date? will it come out? just wondering, so I can decide to wait, or if I should just give up and buy another. hope to hear from you soon.

@@bryanwachs8565 your comment was for spring 2019. It's now Spring 2020. Any updates on a firm release date? I will buy one tomorrow if you guys can get it moving
looks like you've updated the website with more info and new pictures, I'm liking it even more now. definitely more polished! I'm wondering when can we start ordering?
Please visit our website at quikrack.com under Newsletter and sign-up. You will be notified when the Quik-Rack Mach 2 is available. When we get to your name on the list, you will be able to place your order.
Cal, I went to your site and tried to get the "newsletter" you mentioned on the site for adding my name to the waiting list. There was no way to add my name to anything -- so I sent you an email to be put on the list. Also, in the 'other photos' on your site you show what appears to be a loading ramp for the Mach 2. That's not listed in any of the products but a loading ramp would be a great help to those who have ebikes. Any info about that as an option in the future?
Purchased a 2" Heavy Duty a few years ago. It has not been a great investment. When things bend or break, it is nice that 1up offers replacement parts. I have had more than 1 bad experience dealing with customer service. Parts not included, nickel and dime add ons to additional repair costs. I spent over $1100 on the original rack, spent over $275 on replacement parts. I damaged part of the rack, other parts should not have bent or broken in the course of normal use. Would not buy this rack again.
I dont like the way the new quik rack mach 2 locks in the hitch, it is easier for a thief to cut a small lock like this one with some nail clippers, unlike the 1up it locks at the bottom where it is harder for the lock to be cut. Its also easiest for the add-ons to be stolen with the locks easy access. Yes he did improve some things, but there are some set backs. Another negative is ... the rack only has , what looks to be abou 5 in of shaft going in hitch compared to the 1up about 9 inches inserted in hitch
Some vehicles, especially newer ones have a through hole type receiver tube. This means there is no bottom to the receiver tube. Most receiver tubes of this type are 4-6 inches long. If you insert the original Quik-Rack all the way in, then the ball could pass the inner end of the receiver tube. Then, when you tighten the security bolt down, the ball has nothing to tighten against. The rack will remain loose, and the ball could fall out and be lost. The rack is now relying on the Velcro strap to prevent it from falling off the vehicle. The original Quik-Rack rack hitch bar can be inserted as much as 5.5 inches in to the receiver. This could allow the ball to past the inner end of the vehicles receiver tube. This has happened in the past and will happen more with the newer vehicles. The new Quik-Rack Mach 2 has a shorter 4-inch hitch bar. This shorter hitch bar cannot be inserted past the inner end of the receiver tube. The tightening mechanism is on the end of the hitch bar. If it was any longer, then the same problem would occur just like with the original Quik-Rack. The new Quik-Rack Mach 2 hitch bar only needs to be inserted 2-inches deep to be secure. The lock that comes included with the Quik-Rack Mach 2 is a standard type brass padlock with a hardened 1/4-inch shank. When it’s on the vehicle, the lock is hard to access with bolt cutters. I am sure the lock cannot be cut with just nail clippers. I tested the other lock that can be purchased for $19, using just a hammer I was able to easily brake the lock off. I plan to show a video of this on the website quikrack.com. All locks can be defeated, they are mostly just a deterrent preventing a quick-grab. No one likes a robber, crook or thief, I should know!
Thanks for raising these concerns & thanks to Cal for replying. I've been looking forward to a redesign for many years and I'm glad to see people evaluating the changes - and even more glad to see Cal chiming with various points that we might not have considered.
You can use any pad lock you want. The Quik-Rack Mach 2 can be used with a 3/8 inch diameter shank if desired. The current locks that it comes included with have a 1/4 inch harden steel shank. We provide 3 keyed alike locks with 2 keys for convenience. There is no additional cost for the 3 locks. You can learn more at quikrack.com.
The original was easiest to steal because someone just needed an allen wrench with a hole in the end or a "1UP" wrench. It was not unique like a keyed lock. Get a boron solid steel lock.
Corky Phillips the only thing that’s changed is that you’re now taking people’s money for preorder but there’s still no signs the actual product is available.

Wow, thanks for dumping on my investment in your first version! Wonderful to know that anyone can just buy that wrench and steal my expensive rack! Look, I'm no fool and I realize you can buy that wrench and that new versions of products will be better but damn man, learn how to market to your customers. After being in sales for 20years I've learned to never make your existing clients feel like fools. There's a proper way to position new features, you kind of missed the boat here.
He's an engineer (and a good one!), not a sales or marketing guy...but I agree with your point. His tone makes a bit more sense factoring in that he reportedly had a difference of opinion with partners/colleagues in the original Quick-Rack venture. Still, it's true that showcasing an upgraded product can be done much better than this. That said, my version of the old single rack is very easy to secure with a ~3" u-lock through the two holes above and below the access point for the tightening nut. A 2+ rack system would be easy, too--just drill a hole through both faceplates and use a small u-lock.
he's completely broken away from 1UP. So it's in his best interest to critique the former version while selling us on his new, improved version. However, 3 years in, who knows if it'll ever see the light of day :(
so he took feedback from people with the 1up and improved an -already great product that he is no longer associated with. Why not show the quirks of the old one and compare with the improvements of the new one? I bought a tv 4 years ago. The newer version of it is much better. Should i get mad?
This seems less secure than the original due to the fact that the tool used to securely attach the rack to the hitch is now built into the rack itself. The ood one used the Allen wrench and you had to have it in order to remove the rack from the vehicle. All a thief has to do now is cut that tiny lock and remove the entire rack off quite easily.
My name is Cal Phillips and I am the inventor and patent holder for the original Quik-Rack. My patent has expired so anyone can produce it. The new Quik-Rack Mach 2 is covered by new patents. You can read more on our website quikrack.com under Patents and Trademarks.
This dude didn't just come out of nowhere. If you do some research he is the original inventor and patent-holder for the quik rack (his original patent for the rack expired a few years ago) and claims to have never sold the trade name "1UP USA". Whether or not that's true, we won't know anytime soon. What we can safely assume is that there was some kind of business dispute or fallout that produced a nice amount of legal issues, which is why we can't get the full story. As to why there were 2 websites of the same name, and why this guy is revealing his "new and improved" rack under the exact same name instead of creating a different brand altogether, we probably won't know for a while.
I did some research Alek, thus I found out this guy isn’t the 1UP USA company. The details of his past relationship with that company are not my concern, what is my concern is his attempt to make me think his product is the established 1UP USA company, an attempt I resent. And it’s bad business to bum rap a competitor’s product. This guy would do better to have his product stand alone.
He never says he is 1up. In fact he addresses the fact that he is not the company that is currently selling the older design on his website. All he says is he is the original inventor(which is true). Shows the differences/improvements on his original design(again not misleading in anyway). The name 1up is never said, in fact if you didn’t know about 1up(which he started), you would never know that the original is still available. Neither party is being upfront about what went down, but the facts are he did invent the thing and start the company. As an owner of the original design, his comparisons and points he makes are pretty spot on. If he took peoples money and hasn’t shipped product I would understand that animosity, but all he has done is show the design and ask people to get on a mailing list to keep first come first served if still interested when it ships.
I formed a partnership with a machine shop owner and a marketing expert both based in Grand Junction Colorado. We plan to launch a test market in Grand Junction Colorado over the next few weeks. Then we will contact our customers on our waitlist when the Quik-Rack Mach 2 is ready to ship. The price of the new Quik-Rack Mach 2 has not been finalized and will be posted on our website soon.
I'm sold when can I get one?
Not so sure about the less expensive part now...
Supposed to be available last month - Dec.2017 - can't buy it now. So what good is it on a wait-list???
The Quik-Rack Mark 2 complete product line as shown on our website is currently in production. The first customers on the list will receive their rack in order by date from the first production run. We are hoping to have it available for everyone to purchase by April, then we will remove the list from our website. Sign-up on our website at www.quikrack.com/about/newsletter/

Is the new, wider glide bar compatible with the old rack?
There is no compatibility between the 2 racks.
I'm sold on this but when is it available?
We are still waiting for a few more parts to come in from our manufacturer before we can start shipping to customers. We won’t start shipping until spring 2019. Sorry for the delay, the Quik-Rack Mach 2 is a new product and it takes time to get up to production speed.

c'mon Cal, we want to support you and your new endeavour....just release the product already!! it's been years now
Looks thinner and not as beefy as the 1up brand.
The new Quik-Rack Mach 2 shown in the video is an early prototype. We plan on making a new video soon. You can see our latest much stronger design at quikrack.com
What weights will the Heavy-Duty Single with a MACH 2 ADD-ON support?

Hi Corky, how heavy is the Mach 2?

looks like you've updated the website with more info and new pictures, I'm liking it even more now. definitely more polished! I'm wondering when can we start ordering?
Please visit our website at quikrack.com under Newsletter and sign-up. You will be notified when the Quik-Rack Mach 2 is available. When we get to your name on the list, you will be able to place your order.
Is this a knockoff replica 1up rack??? Should this be reported??
Cal, I went to your site and tried to get the "newsletter" you mentioned on the site for adding my name to the waiting list. There was no way to add my name to anything -- so I sent you an email to be put on the list.
Also, in the 'other photos' on your site you show what appears to be a loading ramp for the Mach 2. That's not listed in any of the products but a loading ramp would be a great help to those who have ebikes. Any info about that as an option in the future?
Looks a lot like the 1up rack

ahaahhahahahaahah "you can buy this online, could steal anybodys rack if you want it!!!!!!!!!" i love this one!!!!! nice vid. !!!!!!
Thanks for the reply. I just want to be able to fit a heavy duty lock on the rack, istead of a small brass one.
Get a boron solid steel lock.
any chance this coming out by 2020???
It's never coming out. Ever. Too bad!
Bookoo c it’s 2020 and the answer is NOPE 😂

The old version is literally a 1up bike rack.
he decided to no longer produce the rack himself and is looking for companies that will license the patent. definitely never coming out now

So are you or are you not part of 1 up USA? Because they claim they know of this video but no relation.
he invented it. he has now branched off and made his own rack with a new company...but 3.5 years in, we are all still waiting

Corky Phillips that domain web address doesn’t exist. Are you selling these? I’ll take two!
This seems less secure than the original due to the fact that the tool used to securely attach the rack to the hitch is now built into the rack itself. The ood one used the Allen wrench and you had to have it in order to remove the rack from the vehicle. All a thief has to do now is cut that tiny lock and remove the entire rack off quite easily.
cost more than the 1up rack
Please visit 1upusahistory.com I licensed my 14 rack patents and their plan is to make it available to dealers and stores like REI.
This is almost a copy of the 1 up! How does he get away with this? Patent infringement?
My name is Cal Phillips and I am the inventor and patent holder for the original Quik-Rack. My patent has expired so anyone can produce it. The new Quik-Rack Mach 2 is covered by new patents. You can read more on our website quikrack.com under Patents and Trademarks.

Lol it is NOT cheaper. Lol
Please stop telling us 'what you'd like to do' , just tell us what you're going to do.
This rack is not made by 1UP USA but by a competitor who’s implying he is 1UP USA.
Tom maybe you should drink less and listen more. Lmao
This guy ain’t making a rack. Just buy the 1up USA rack.
