I’m an American and I just spent 4 days in Daventry on business and I really enjoyed it. I also spent time in other areas of England while I was there, but I like Daventry very much. It’s a town I would enjoy living in.
That Methodist church used to be open every Tuesday for tea and cakes. My mum always had Tuesdays off work and that was the day we always met my Nan in town to go shopping and to go to the church cafe at the back.
I live in Daventry, in all honestly it’s not a bad place to live but the town centres needs a better range of shops as it’s brilliant if u want to get a hair cut. For which you have many choices 😂, your nails done, buy or sell a house or look through the multiple charity shops . I spent a large part of my school life going to the church as I went to the school up the path opposite the Tesco. The country park is beautiful and a brilliant place for walks and bike rides with a small cafe which has just been refurbished. The Methodist church is open but I also haven’t seen it open for a while but I went to pre school there over 10 years ago. The band stand is used annually for the Xmas light switches on. The union jack bunting is now up pretty much all year 😂. The library has moved down the road into the new council building and to be honest probably the best place to eat a decent meal in the town is the weatherspoons - Emily
@@thegoddardsisters3546 thanks for replying. I’m considering a move there when I eventually return back to UK, Daventry seems a wonderful place to raise a family.
@FamiLee Travels oh wow, what bouts r u now If u don't mind me asking? It really is. We've just had a brand new cinema open in the last few weeks and the town is always changing, always somthing on. I've been here my whole life and have no plans to move any time soon
Daventry boy here... Old enough to remember his cold 'The Outdoor' (swimming pool) was. This was a curious title in the 1970's because there wasn't actually an indoor? 🤔 Anyway, great video... I wonder if New India Cottage is still there? Re The Methodist Chapel, I was dragged there twice a week whilst my sister had ballet lessons... Oh how the sound of an upright piano now gives me chills. Funny comments mon ami. Best wishes from an English armourer in a Fench forest. 🌞⚒️ PS: I would love to find a photo of Trinders Toy Shop if ever you discover one please. Subscribed
The old indoor pool was at the Leisure Centre next door to the Grange comprehensive school of which everything got scooped up into the Daventry Northampton college in the 90s and some of the playing field land sold off for private housing.
The canal extension of which you are so contemptuous would be an arm of the Grand Union Canal and not a non-existent "Oxford Union" (as you call it @ 1:50). Anyway, at least we have all learned that you are not a Conservative voter and don't like new canal-building programs bringing in fresh tourism and interest whilst extending the inland waterways network.
Excellent video of my hometown, thank you!

Born and raised. Haven't been back since 2017 but happy too see Canton House is still open at 10:55

The bandstand used to be used as a stage for the Christmas light switch on. Famously hosted by Chesney Hawkes around the early 2000s
“Famously” yeah, No mate. No ones got a fcking clue lmao

Does it flood a lot there?
@@MartinLee888 no, never known it to properly flood. The odd heavy rain fall will cause some surface water but no where near as bad as some places

just letting you know the church you called the methodist church is in fact the united reformed church
You missed half of Daventry. You didn't do southbrook, headlands, heartland, country park, golf club etc...

The church is a karate club
Check out Wellingborough!
Where's all the people gone? There's barely anybody in any of the streets in Daventry and the cars aren't on the roads either!
Most likely filmed in lockdown
Global pandemic

Ye dame I’m still here
Everything's red and it has a barber, what more do you need?
@@Dynastone well the cinema is taking for ever
Tbh even with that cinema, the sixfields in Northampton is still better and worth travelling to.
Stripe, I am Daventry born and bred but I escaped.
Send up a flare mate and I will send a chopper for you! 🚁😉
A pretty sad and insignificant part of England 🙄
