    If you’re recording music and you’re on a budget (like i was), the CT-S300 will work perfectly fine, as you can connect it to a PC via micro-USB & add VST’s to it’s track FX in Reaper or another Digital Audio Workstation to modify it’s sound down to your desire

    Good comparison and tone demonstration Jeremy! The Casio CT-S1 is better than the older CT-S300 as it uses Casio's latest AiX soundchip and has many effects to improvize the tone quality, has 64 notes of polyphony, has the ability to store registration, etc. It is for people who intend to play classical music with iconic voices.

    Until unless you never plan to use CTS 1 as a. Midi keyboard then go for it. But if you ever want to use as a midi keyboard, I would suggest 300.
    The pitch bend, which can be used as expression controller for various vst. Swam vst won't even start without it.
    For the price and being so light weight it's a great 1st or 2nd keyboard.
    Though the sound of CTS 1 is definitely better, not many would actually record directly from the keyboard.

    And Yes! That $50 is money well spent! The AIX Sound Processor is super. Whatever Casio has done with the internal amplifier/speaker system has paid off in the CT-S1 as well, sounds great. 64 note polyphony, and a little better Keybed, sweet. Look forward to seeing the CT-S400. Nice comparative review Jeremy. Would like to see a review of the Bluetooth MIDI in the future. As always, Thanks!

    The Aix sound chip in the CT-S1 with more polyphony sound fuller. The CT-3000 sounds are fragile cheep sounding compared. I look forward to what Casio will do in the Arrangers. I purchased the CT-S1Red for the portable and deep rich sound. I have higher end Arrangers of Yamaha. Now Casio has my interest in the near future after having Yamaha brand for decades and invested in changes every several years. Casio is the one to watch.

    • @debhaax

      I agree with you on this one. I have both these keyboards and the CTS- 300 sounds like a toy compared to the CT-S1 and the piano sound does not sound realistic (although it’s nice to have in my vast keyboard collection). The AiX sound chip is great in the CT-S1. Plus I really don’t need all those additional voices and rhythms, just the basics, piano, electric piano, organ and strings is all I need. This new CT-S1 blows the CTS-300 out of any competition at least for me. It’s all subjective. But yes, as another reviewer mentioned the first 15 seconds was enough to make my decision and the fact that I have both keyboards I can say there’s no comparison in sound. Enjoy your keyboards everyone regardless of which one you get.

    • @johnhorazy12notes
      @johnhorazy12notes 3 года назад +2

      Piano sounds. #1 is the acoustic piano that will last for generations in comparison to plastic boxes sound alike. Don’t get me wrong I love my keyboards. The human ear can only hear so much and that makes for great sounds. It’s one thing to compare the piano sound from one to another, but there is so much more to consider as you step into the arranger boards. The acoustic piano s just that, basic no options but last many life times comparing electronic age that out dates every few years. Bottom line is enjoy it all because it’s just at our own fingertips. 🎶

    Can you tell me if the sustain pedal has to be a Casio brand?

    • @BlessYourHeart254
      @BlessYourHeart254 2 месяца назад

      I bought a generic pedal for my CT-S1, but I had to make sure it had a polarity switch. If a pedal doesn’t have that, it does opposite of what it’s supposed to do (my sostenuto actually damps the sounds). You can easily and cheaply find one on Musicians Friend. I think the CT-S1 comes with a pedal, but I wanted a real-piano-like one. Hope this helps.

      @@JeremySee It is really a hard job to compare both keyboards. The CT-S1 is a performer keyboard, not an arranger, but it has high-quality tones with all the bread-and-better sounds any gigging keyboardist would need. IMHO the CT-S300 will be completely superseded by the CT-S400, which has the portability and simplicity of the CT-S300 but with way better tones and more features.
      The only keyboard which can really be compared with the CT-S1 feature wise is the Roland Go! keys.

    Great review! But there is something it is still not clear for me. I am a beginner, and I have always used Yamaha keyboards. I changed into the Casio CT-S300 like a couple of weeks ago, and I can't get used to the sound of the speakers, their sound is like tinny, as if it has been robotized. Not a sound to fancy.
    I was checking the CT-S1, to exchange for my CT-S300, but as I checked the video, you mentioned both of them have the same speakers and amplifiers, so, is the sound the same? I would not like to buy it if the sound is the same. I can't really tell the difference by watching the video...

      I have a CTS1 and the older CTK 500. CTS1 has a harder touch. As far as playing the two, I prefer the softer touch of the CTK 500. I wish I had more time to experiment with the layering on the CTS1, but I was able to combine the organ and strings. I actually was able to add a third layer, which can't be saved. I regularly use the saved organ and strings setting. When I get more time I want to see if I can add that third layer again while playing. Some of the touch sensitive settings don't seem to go off when you turn them off, (press function button and second to the last G note). I would love it if someone would demonstrate how to use the layering and other combinations on the CTS1. I have no use for rhythm or percussion settings on the keyboard. My biggest need on these two keyboards is to get a variety of quality organ sounds, more so than other settings.
      So far, the CTK 500 has more variety of organ presets, and a very good cathedral organ preset, which I would love it if a similar preset was offered that was more up front using the same organ sound, i.e. it sounds like you're in the back of a church, where I would like that same sound but more distinct with a bit less reverb / echo.

    But now, there's the CT-S400 at $230 US. So, for me, I would rather get the CT-S1, unless I want the better sounds and the features and added voice tones of the CT-S400. The only real advantage the CT-S300 has over the CT-S400 is the easier to grab handle and better music holder. The CT-S300 sounds muffled in comparison to the CT-S1 in this video, which has much more sonic clarity.

  • @robertoyamakata6672

    The cts1 is a real instrument, but relative cheap and portable. I love mine. The only instrument I use and is useful for me is the predetermined piano. If you have a real piano you get an only sound. Ok that's what i need a good piano sound, portable, more less cheap.

      I was just thinking that a CT-S1/CTX-700 would be an interesting comparison. They use the same sound chip, but it would be cool to compare the 'other' features you get with the $25 cheaper ($175 vs $200) CTX-700.

    I havent ever played any instrument this is the first time i am thinking to buy a new keyboard .A humble request for you , can you please explain to me the difference between cts1 and cts400 also, i would obviously like to buy a keyboard with more features as i plan to keep that keyboard for many years but also think that cts400 will be at the peak of my budget, but the interested thing i noticed was that in all the review that i have seen every reviewer is saying cts1 is absolutely amazing with amazing sounds and is something really special so does that mean it has better sounds than cts400, i also noticed that when in the casio official launch they were focussing more on how amazing casio cts1 is and its fantastic but they were not emphasising that much on cts400, does the casio cts400 have the pad feature which is in cts1, and also is it necessary to buy bluetoott dongle for using midi cant we just connect it manually also?And does the keys of cts400 work fast and play sounds without fully pressing the buttons like the cts1. Pleae help me out, i would really be greatful :)
    Someone please answer my question anyone with good knowledge of keyboards.

      If you want more beginner features that you might use in the future, then the CTS300 or 400 should be a good choice
      If you want voices with a lush Quality, then take the CTS1
      I am a mid level to professional pianist and keyboard player
      I would always suggest anyone to take the Yamaha PSR E373 or E363
      These are keyboards that will help you for a span of several years
      And Yamaha has Better Resale Value that Casio...
      Hope this Helped

      @kanan5467 3 года назад +1

      The CT-S1 is more of a Piano, something that can compete with Roland Go: Piano, and such. Meaning it has quality sounds than quantity.
      The CT-S400 is more of a keyboard. A keyboard that can compete with CTX-800 and PSR-E373.
      The CT-S1 is cheap due to it having limited sounds and doesn't have arranger features.
      If you'll mainly play piano, go with the CT-S1, it's cheaper and has other colors. However if you want to delve deeper into keyboard playing, and will use all types of sounds, and or may use it to perform go with the CT-S400

    • @kanan5467
      @kanan5467 3 года назад +1

      Also, the reason why you need a dongle for midi in the CT-S1/CT-S400 is that it has a Type-A USB port. It can't connect to your computer directly cause it has the same port. The reason for this I think is that you can use a type A USB and plug it in to your gadget. Which uses either USB Micro or USB Type-C.
      In short, yes you do need the dongle for connection to the computer, I don't know if it's necessary to have that when connecting it to your gadget, what I do know is the dongle can connect to a gadget.
      Welcome, and good luck in the world of Keyboards

    • @RobertSaintJohn
      @RobertSaintJohn 3 года назад +1

      @@kanan5467 No, both the CT-S1 and the CT-S400 include a class compliant USB micro port for connecting to the computer. The other USB port on these keyboards is simply for the optional WU-BT10 dongle which enables wireless Bluetooth MIDI and external audio input.
