amazing. such a great guy, i took lessons from him in 1990-91 at his managers home in los feliz. got to play "the stray cat" gretsch, incredible experience.. i"ll never forget and am so thankful brian took me in.
I heard that he had taught sometime between the Cats and The Orchestra but it's never been officially confirmed im sure learning from him would be amazing
I saw the Stray Cats in 1982 at the Agora ballroom in Hallendale beach Florida. I was standing on the dance floor as close as I could to Brian to watch his magic. It wasn't easy because the Punks were doing a moshpit. A local band called the Kids were the opening act with Johnny Depp on guitar.
This is great, thanks so much for sharing it! Like all accomplished players, there's not a bit of tension in his entire body no matter how complex the part is he's playing. Amazing to see.
He's such a cool guy to,after one of many times I've seen him,he was close to me and I said hey man I'm not a dumb starstruck loser looking for a autograph,I'm a woodworker and I have a appreciation for the craftsmansjip that goes into your guitars, any chance you can get security to let me over the wall?he didn't hesitate, hey let THAT guy through, pointed me out, sure enough, quick handshake a look at his guitars ,said thanks a million,he's like you really did want to just check it out huh, yup, thanks again,Brian is the coolest rockingest cat in the Galaxy
the real authentic cats play solo, via certain situations sans effects, lights, gear, entourage. Case in point...😻 ( See also Ms Jett playing USo full concert to USarmy overseas sans group!)
Wow,, pardon my french,,,fuckin hell,, what a player, ive seen him and the stray cats numerous times, he does like to showboat an who can blame him, he is an amazing player..”rockabilly rules…
First time I saw the Cats was in SFO - Bill Graham Civic Center 1983. Rant and Rave tour. My Brother saw him in a small guitar shop in LA mid 1990s when he was starting his big band project..only about 7 guys jamming in the band at the time. Good Stuff.
Few guitarists can sound that good unaccompanied. Great sense of rhythm. He feels the whole band when he plays. Living legend.

Brian Setzer one of the greatest guitar players of the earth.
Incredible find and quite possibly the only recording of this performance in existence. Thanks for posting!
Thank you. I totally agree. Even tho the video is bumpy the sound is pretty good. Cheers.
Just a legend Brian Setzer fantastic guitarist a legend. ❤ You still in 2024 and beyond. Keep rocking Bri.
It's criminal that this guy isn't included in the Rolling Stone top 250 guitarist list.
It shows yet again and in glaring fashion, how full of crap the Rolling Stone lists are.
Yea man, he’s killer. Love his playing so much. He’s so cool too 🎸😎
Seen Brian in 2003 in London and Stray Cats twice, once at the Rumble In Brixton gig and hes infectiously good every time.
Mr. Setzer is the most underrated guitarist. Top Ten easily!
My favourite guitar player of all time! Way under rated! Thank you for sharing this! So cool!
So true.
One hell of a musician. Only got to see him one time in concert. Best ever. Hope to have a chance again. Great video of his talents
I love the sound of that 59 Gretsch Guitar through that matchless amp.

Iconic!
I like how he tunes to drop D for "Rock This Town" to account for not having a bassist with him.
Setzer is the real deal.
This is great to see, thanks 👍

Thank you. Cheers
Brian singe handled brought back two styles of music, Rock-a-Billy and Jump Blues!!
single handedly no. just happened to be in the right place at the right time. gets the all credit for nearly 70 years of musical history.
In the U.S. maybe. ROCKABILLY never died in Europe. Lots of 60s and 70s bands out of the U.K. kept it going
Cool Kat

does anyone know the brand of that second guitar....it's blurry but looks like is starts with an "S".
It’s a Gretsch. He was there promoting Gretsch guitars. That’s the old school logo where the G is in script form. Cheers
@@3orangeDots thanks.
S for Synchromatic, the Gretsch Synchromatic model guitar! Sweet recording!!
@@greatlakeguitarsandgear thanks. Cheers
he's basically a jazz guitarist..
Correct
The gretch has a great sound! Try playing a Les Paul Jr. With a double cutaway top! You will love ❤️ it guaranteed!
Good stuff. The disinterested guy in the booth with him chewing gum was apparently not impressed though :)
Yes. From what I remember he was a Gretsch rep. Waiting on customers.
That’s his guitar tech
@@jimmyvegas3834 ah. I do remember the girl on the amp.
Fantastic video,Brian is playing Matchless amp? What model is?(Clubmann,HC-30 or what)
Regards,
Yeah I believe Gretsch put that there for him. I know he usually plays a fender bass man. Nice amp tho
What song is that, he's starting to play at 5:35?
Too Hip, Gotta go!! One of the cats best tunes!
Thanks!
@@TheRingo001
LOL. Listen to the knucklehead playing in the background @ 5:11. B heard it.
Thanks. I'm going to throw up now.
Honestly kind of disgusting because it just goes to show it really is just his hands. lol
