A lot of complicated feelings led to me to joining the military, it’s the biggest mistake I’ve ever made. For an entire week before drill I find my body going into some kind of survival mode, I have a terrible time sleeping, my heart rate shoots up every time I think about it, and I get easily irritated or DEEP in my feels. It’s so weird to be a slave to your body because of a conscious choice you made. And yet here I am switching between this and 1 hour space song just trying to relax my body to sleep for the 4 hours I have left before I have to “wake up”
If I could give a piece of advice to anyone thinking about making a multi-year/potentially life altering decision I beg that you ask yourself if you’re really passionate about it. Don’t make decisions with the intent to just endure it, I know that sounds obvious but I really could have used someone to drill that reality into my head. And if I can spare anyone the pain by god I’ve got to at least try.
