life isn't just about being a better person. maybe he rides planes and travels a lot just because he loves to. success is a broad word. the truth is, there are "measurements" for success. some succeed when it comes to relationships, jobs, wealth, personal life goals in doing what they love, etc.

He should become a pilot. All I know is that when I travel I want to spend time experiencing the sights, people, food etc.. Spending one day somewhere is not enough time. Seems like he spends more time in airport lounges, planes and hotels than actually visiting any city or country. I only see flying as a means to get there.

Even though things have been tightened up a lot in the last 1-2 years, I think it's generally agreed that getting the most out of travel hacking works only if you're based in the United States. The sheer range of credit card 'benefits' (if that's the right word) aren't all that common elsewhere, except perhaps if you're a high net worth individual. Otherwise, you're likely to be someone who has to travel a lot...for work.

Purchase money orders with the said GC's. Money orders cashed and deposited to bank account. Pay off CC's in full. Use gained points for travel. It's a cycle.

Cool concept. Not sure I could do that for a living. But to each their own.
My wife and I travel hacked in preparation for our year long honeymoon. We ended up getting the following flights for free:
Shanghai to Seattle, Seattle to Atlanta, Atlanta to New York, Seattle to Guatemala City, and Quito to Seattle. We flew economy but we we're backpacking and budgeting pretty tight to stretch our time on the road. I ended up using Upgraded Points and a few other travel hacking blogs to get ideas to maximize the points and plan what credit cards to use. Most Americans can do this and it only takes a little discipline to plan out. Just be sure to pay off the credit cards each month.

You pay bills and needed purchases on the cards to get the points. Once you have the points, you use them for cheap/free flights/stays. Additionally, when you use an airline enough, there are a lot of amazing perks like additional bonus points or even free flights and bumps.

This also takes a lot of time and micro management. You have to constantly keep up with every little bonus and trick and you have to spend lots more time planning which cards to use where and which airlines, and where you want to go. It's just a ton of variable to consider. Plus most of these credit cards have Annual fees.

By doing that you can fly first class for the price of coach. However, credit cards do help but it’s all about how often you fly and how many miles you travel.

Why not ?!clever !nothing wrong with traveling in style and getting the best for your money. Anyone who is hating on him for this is plain jealous. Learn from him instead and maybe also can enjoy the good life . You are only young once!awesome! Enjoy your adventures young man. Genius he is! I love success stories of the young people now that I am no longer young lol:)

Meh, I think traveling like this kind of takes the fun/appreciation out of it. Also this is definitely not for everyone. Having that many credit cards and that much CC debt does not work or even benefit most people. You have to have some serious self control and patience, which I commend him for.
I can hear some people now thinking "OOh, I'll apply for 10 CC's, travel for next to nothing, and have a unicorn for a credit score." Don't. Also, please don't forget about accruing interest rates people >.

Discovered this 2 years ago I have enough points now to fly 2 people business almost anywhere in the world. And it would of only cost me maybe $300 if that, and iv visited the business lounge many times free of charge. It's just time and research plus swapping direct debits.

But I tried applying on the website & it wouldn't allow me to because I'm not at least 50. It looks like a few years ago they had a membership option with no age limit, but I can't find it anymore

This is an example of bad journalism or editing. The number one question that everyone wants to know is... how does he get his parents to pay for his lifestyle?

  • @etrnlygr8tful
    @etrnlygr8tful 7 лет назад

Good for him.....I love to see different countries and places and create memories out of the experience, but I don't enjoy the many hours I have to be inside a plane and jet lag, not to mention the TSA screenings and checks. I wonder how many times he has gone through the X-ray check in the airports?
Speaking of points...I should start planning my next trip and use my 300K points.

This lifestyle is so wack. Although flying many places is fucking dope, you have to keep track of 40 credit cards your on a constant move all the time so you don’t really have a break and I guess it can get stressful. And your only in places for like a day so you don’t really build up relationships and stuff he’s traveling but it’s nothing on the long run no career involved just keep on moving and moving and moving.
