salts in Sports drink to replenish electrolytes used. water alone wont let you recover and feel better, the salts have the electrolytes to replenish what you lose through sweating etc. So sports drink have this and its usually an energy drink when it has a stimulant in it like caffeine

I used to drink Monster heavily in middle school, but my Grandma told me to stop drink energy drink b/c it's really not good for you. Haven't drunk one from 2012-2019( only drunk some due to 40 hr road trip). But from now on foward, I'll rather have a healthier alternative.
