Pure bullshit they cancelled this right on a cliffhanger. They were definitely vibing with getting Therese together with the farmer lady, there were undertones flying around everywhere.

I think Teresa was thrown a curve ball with the farmer lady. She suddenly realized she could be useful helping her to read. Also she wasn't entirely convinced that things would be different in America. Why they had to kill off Connie though that really gets me. Wasn't sailing thousands of miles away enough?
