  • This is a AM broadcast band tunable loop antenna that I became very interested in after seeing a few demo's on RUclips. Is it worth the $30 USD? You be the judge.

That antenna works pretty well. I like the name you chose for your channel.

There must be a small capacitor in that loop antenna, or it would not be to touchy in the tuning.
I plug my long wire aerial into the loop antenna's connector jack, then couple the loop to my receiver. It gets a better signal than just the loop.

Hey what a good idea Tom. I am going to try that.

Yes, loop antennas do tend to be less noisy than wire antennas.

Coul you demonstrate using it to notch out a signal?

Unfortunately it doesn’t work as a notch filter. it’s more like a tunable bandpass filter that covers 550 to 1700 kHz.

I purchased mine on eBay. The AM broadcast band radios are a bit rare, but they come up every now and then for auction.

I find that the loop doesn’t work with modern DSP AM radios, for some reason.
