This are all ZIRP companies who are used to cheap money. One of the "entrepreneurs" said that farmers in developing countries are conservative. As a matter of fact they are like that everywhere. I know from my experience with farmers in California. That's due to the uncertainties of the industry they are in. These guys seem to be typical "techies" who focus on product development and not GTM. Come up with innovative financial models to eliminate financial risk for the farmers and then you will see adoption. They are always suspicious of people who don't look like them and speak like snake oil salesmen, who are there only to exploit them. This has happened for generations.
Well said. Farmers are thriving on narrow margin with current hyperinflation.final blow is unpredictable weather due to global warming and pollution. How come farmers have their Trust to Techguy where farmers had meager profits.
Well said. As a son of Farmer, working in IT, lived some time in the west, seen this type of startups going bust in the USA, these agriculture startups never going to survive. The margins are too low in farming, and they are a perishable commodity that needs to be marketed immediately, or the prices go down, or the produce goes to waste. They will never be cash flow positive, unless all farmers in India stop doing farming. All these buzz words like AI and stamping it in every place, never changes the reality.

I really don’t understand stand why automation is suddenly being called AI. Is it self learning to take its own decisions? If no then it’s just an automation software.
Very interesting but I am sure not beneficial to small farmer, cost and maintenance cost of system will be not affordable to small farmer, if not explain it please.
The report is excellent. From a technical perspective, the team should consider investing in higher-quality microphones (significantly superior to Digitek models) or exploring post-processing options for the audio feed, such as utilizing Adobe Podcast.
So many iot based Agri startups give the similar solutions. Just copy cats. But all are costly, only suitable for wealthy farmers. Simply waste. As an Engineer i can build it with 30% of their selling price. What we need is advanced tech for fertiliser, agri output processing and storage.
This looks like showpiece technology, how expensive is it? Its good to reduce water and fertilizer usage but im not sure how practical this is. This seems like it can work only for nurseries which limit market.
I really appreciate your efforts! I need some advice: My OKX wallet holds some USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). How can I transfer them to Binance?
The sentence "using ai to detect crop disease before it spreads" makes no sense, randonly putting ai anywhere and everywhere in sentences is not the solution
i dont find much of a difference it would make to farmers Yield ....compared to the efforts input .........and as far as water preservation goes A Lot needs to be done .......On Water renewable resource for URBAN areas .....where ground water is getting Devoured.....and hardly any effort for replenishment.....i maybe Wrong....Readers discretion required
And where that reduced workforce will go? We don't need fancy equipments and accessories for farmers, rather we need sustainable growing techniques and reduced cost of production 😢 Look at any industry people focus on cost of production so to maximize profits so why can't we just copy that inn agricultural industry 😢
If It couldn't be made to work in high-margin, high-ticket size economies with expensive labor, what are chances it can be made to work in India ? ZIRP non-sense problem looking desperately for solution, and then blame the farmer for not being "tech-savvy", this is not a long-tailed problem, the tail does not exist, period! long term shpiel can fool your investors but won't pass the test of time. Unit economics is not an adoption problem!
this is not AI - please understand the difference - unnecessary inclusion of 'AI' inot everything - jurnalists need to educate themselves about tech before they educate their audiences. Otherwise this is misinformation.

Very good Work by the reporter, title should have been automation and no AI
Exactly, AI gets everyone's attention not automation.

It's about at what cost they will sell the product
This exactly what India needs now, technology with agriculture for improved yield. As India is primarily agrarian.
I'm currently residing in Bangalore Whitefield

Can we monitor open environment using AI, maybe then we might create an effective permaculture driven locality, village or District.
Everyone like to use the word AI … how much do they actually use AI is the point … every one uses terms to market their product
Laber problem for farmer. Please make hominoid robot 🤖 for laber solution.

We have to use tech and modern equipment to reduce the workforce that's involved in agriculture.
