Adi Shankara has always been inspiration when in comes to inner self inquiry. He is the silent guru for all yogis past, present and future.
1. Sri Adi Sankaracharya re-established ADVAITA [non-dualism] in India around 1300 years ago. 700 AD.
2. Some versions of his life story say that he drank Molten Lead, not molten iron.
3. His composition - NIRVANA SHATAKAM - explains the reality of human existence like no other book or verse,
ever published. It is sung every year at the night-long MahaShivaRathri festivities at the Isha Yoga Center in Tamil Nadu, South India.
He composed 72 devotional and meditative hymns like Soundarya Lahari, Sivananda Lahari, Nirvana Shatakam, and Maneesha Panchakam. He wrote 18 commentaries on the major scriptural texts, including the Brahma Sutras, the Bhagavad Gita, and the 12 major Upanishads.
He also authored 23 books on the fundamentals of the Advaita Vedanta philosophy which expound the principles of the non-dual Brahman. These include Viveka Chudamani, Atma Bodha, Vaakya Vritti, Upadesa Sahasri, among others.
Considered to be an incarnation of Lord Siva, Sri Adi Sankaracharya lived for only 32 years. A tragically short life span during which he accomplished "impossible" Himalayan deeds that would have taken lesser mortals with similar spiritual inclinations at least 250 years to accomplish! OM Namo Shivaya! Shambo Mahadeva!
True! He was Sadasiva himself who incarnated to re-establish sanatana dharma. Such incarnations happen by God's will and can't be made by humans. Unlike the Buddha, Adi Shankara was enlightened as he was born. Along with Nirvana Shatakam, Brahma Jnanavali mala is beautiful and mind-blowing.
It's a blessing that I could live in Sadhguru Era.

@@heylovelyday308 well its hearsay. I cannot verify it. My dad used talk about it as he grew up in udipi. Goes like this. Aadi Shankara wanted to consecrate a devi temple somewhere (I don't remember). So after long penance devi (Saraswati) appeared before him. After hearing his wish devi said I will follow you to where you want my presence to be available. But you cannot look back during our journey. Shankara agreed. But during their journey shankara was doubtful as he could not hear anything from behind. After controlling his urge to look behind finally when he reached the hills where the temple is now, he decide to check once and turned around. Its is said the devi got angry and sat down on the mountain and decided to never speak again. Hence the name Mookambika.
@@co5mic_con5ol3 : mookambika name came because of killing demon mookasura. Shankaracharya wanted to take her to kerala his home state. She told him I will walk behind you but if you turn and look behind , I will stop there. He hears her anklet throughout but when the sound stops he turns back. He feels very sad , she consoles him and asks to build a temple. The temple came up in the kotachadri hills in the banks of river sowparnika. This is one of the holiest place for malayali people. Every single day atleast one malayali will be in this temple. I met the legend Yesudas here. Shankarapeeta is still there in kollur.
