Compare that to Shaboozey, his single is only the 11th ever that had 7 weeks or more at the nr 1 country airplay spot.

Cowboy Carter's odds to win now are 17/2. If I assume that previously her odds were around 5/1 each time than her not winning even once is like 40%. I just... is the Grammy's not about the quality of the music over everything else? Why should not pursuing a huge PR campaign or promoting the album hurt your chances? I see nothing wrong with Beyoncé dropping a great album and then dipping out without doing music videos, interviews, or dropping re-releases to keep it on the charts. Of course playing the game will help your chances, but to go so far as to say someone *shouldn't* win because they *don't* play the game seems like twisting the purpose of the award - a merit of excellence.
While I agree that Cowboy Carter was not promoted after its release in the traditional sense, Beyoncé used it as a vehicle for sponsorships that weave into the American fabric. For instance, the Superbowl commercial (pre-release), Yaya was used for Olympics promotion, Bodyguard for her whiskey brand, Bodyguard for the Election, halftime performance on Netflix, Levi Jeans deal, lyft/uber partnership for 16 Carriages and Spaghetti, and others. Also, saying it doesn't "deserve" album of the year is not fair: it's the 2nd highest rated critically this year and impacted cowboy and country culture and music. It undoubtedly raised the profile of several black country artists, one of which who now has the 2nd longest running number 1 song of all time. Regardless of taste in the album, the impact is undeniable. If the album doesn't "feel" like album of the year in the same vein as Renaissance, Lemonade, or self-titled, I can't disagree with that. I just wanted to point out facts that have been ignored. An album of the year win would not be a consolation for past snubs. It would be deserved based on success, realized impact, and creative ingenuity. 🙏

I've always said that Beyoncé's limit of success is below the likes of someone like Taylor swift, etc because of racism and it's extremely sad to see how many people dismiss and talk down on Cowboy Carter and her as an artist heavily because of that.
Could you explain, please, why Beyonce not winning AOTY is a racism, whereas Taylor, the greatest songwriter of the 21st century, not winning SOTY (lost 6 times) is not even a topic of discussion?
@@highperformer5532 I never stated that her not winning is racism, although it would definitely contribute to it. Also, with Taylor, she has a track record of submitting her less well-written songs for SOTY, but i can somewhat understand how cardigan and all too well not winning seems strange.
@@jaydot_2576 YBWM, SO, BS, Lover, Cardigan, ATW10 were nominated for SOTY and they all are excellent songs. She didn't win not because of the disrespect towards her, but simply because each time there was a better song according to the jury. And it's ok. Even ATW10 lost to an absolutely well-deserving song, though I forgot its title.
The same with Beyonce. She lost AOTY 4 times not because of the old white male racists in the committee. Cowboy Carter's odds to win now are 17/2. If I assume that previously her odds were around 5/1 each time than her not winning even once is like 40%. Bottom line, not a big deal, no cospiracy, or racism, or whatever.

I just... is the Grammy's not about the quality of the music over everything else? Why should not pursuing a huge PR campaign or promoting the album hurt your chances? I see nothing wrong with Beyoncé dropping a great album and then dipping out without doing music videos, interviews, or dropping re-releases to keep it on the charts. Of course playing the game will help your chances, but to go so far as to say someone *shouldn't* win because they *don't* play the game seems like twisting the purpose of the award - a merit of excellence.
While I agree that Cowboy Carter was not promoted after its release in the traditional sense, Beyoncé used it as a vehicle for sponsorships that weave into the American fabric. For instance, the Superbowl commercial (pre-release), Yaya was used for Olympics promotion, Bodyguard for her whiskey brand, Bodyguard for the Election, halftime performance on Netflix, Levi Jeans deal, lyft/uber partnership for 16 Carriages and Spaghetti, and others. Also, saying it doesn't "deserve" album of the year is not fair: it's the 2nd highest rated critically this year and impacted cowboy and country culture and music. It undoubtedly raised the profile of several black country artists, one of which who now has the 2nd longest running number 1 song of all time. Regardless of taste in the album, the impact is undeniable. If the album doesn't "feel" like album of the year in the same vein as Renaissance, Lemonade, or self-titled, I can't disagree with that. I just wanted to point out facts that have been ignored. An album of the year win would not be a consolation for past snubs. It would be deserved based on success, realized impact, and creative ingenuity. 🙏
