From the archives of Classic Trains, a trip from Nashville to Memphis on a 4-8-4 becomes a learning experience in this spoken-word story by Doss Moore. This special presentation has been brought to you by Nashville Steam, a non-profit organization restoring Nashville's very own steam locomotive, No. 576, a sister engine to the one featured in Doss Moore's story. Through Nashville's efforts, the magic of steam railroading will return to Music City and Middle Tennesee. Awesome story! Gotta say tho that hostling was always my least favorite part of the day, but then we always had to deal with the ash pan in the morning, and that sucks about as much as it sounds
This is a very fine production, excellently done. But there are two curious omissions from the credits. Doss Moore's handwritten description of his first run as a fireman was given to Mary Chambliss, a longtime NC&StL employee. She kept it safe for years before giving it to James K. Ingram, railroad enthusiast, who spent hours painstakingly transcribing the not-always-easy-to-read story for Classic Trains magazine. The names of Mary Chambliss and James K. Ingram should have been included in the credits. Without the two of them, this fine re-creation would not have been possible.
@ I’ve listened to the video with both my Iphone 15’s stock speakers and a set of Hesh headphones and I’ve come to the conclusion that the music is just a little too loud, at some points, for my liking

Nice video!
This is why steam locomotives beat diesel. They have all of the traits that make them a living breathing creature

Hi Janice! In the full video description above, we have included Classic Train's editorial notes regarding Mary and Ken's contributions.
Great format, reduce the music and foley by 20-30% next time when the narrator is speaking and it'll be perfect.
Story’s great. But what’s with this music? Can barely hear the narrator over this upbeat stock bluegrass
