+Toyota4Life One thing is for sure every car has it's issue from big to small. The RCF has problems for sure, we didn't really cover the weight of the car like most but reality is it just doesn't make that much difference driving it on road and track. It's not a race car, and neither are 99% of the other cars people buy. You can drive this car and put the problems aside because it just works at being a real car. The other thing is I have been to enough press events now to hear almost everyone talk about "M3/M4 as the 500lb gorilla, we gotta do better, make a better M3/M4." It gets old, if companies would focus on just making a good car and stop trying to do what everyone else has it would be refreshing. The RCF is somewhat that car. It's not an AMG, M series or S Audi. It's uniquely Lexus, in this case it works. But you won't get many BMW and Audi people to jump ship to this car which is no issue unless Lexus can't sell enough to justify programs like this. And thanks by the way. We try our best to get it.
YES! This is how I see it too. Most people try to compare it to the BMW M4, or other cars similar to that but what's the point really? To me, the RCF was clearly designed not to be a track monster but more of a GT car and when you start comparing cars starting with stats, you lose an idea of brand perception and what people expect from that brand. This channel may not be as popular as a lot of other car review channels, but it's by far my favorite because every car is reviewed largely independent from what the other car manufactures produce.

It's got a 0-60 in 4.4. It's an incredible vehicle, and will be reliable and durable that's a fact! I think people are complaining because it doesn't have that wow factor of design. 99% making comments about this car, don't own it and don't know anything about performance driving. So how can they make fair assessments about this..they can't. They're just youtube champs car reviewers.
Purchased a 2022 RC F three months ago. Got a very good deal on it and absolutely love the car! The RC F is pretty rare to see in the wild, that's why I always see heads turn whenever I drive it out. The NA V8 was the most appealing factor of the RC F, then the unique look of a Japanese GT car. Its not perfect but it's mine. This car is not for everybody but this is the right car for me, right now. At the end of the day, spend your money on the the car you want! Thanks for this amazing in-depth review!
Great review, as always!!!...BTW, 95% of buyers will not take this car to the track, or even come close to exploiting the performance limits of the car. In terms of power, refinement, luxury and overall reliability, this car is pretty hard to beat.
Savagegeese provides a nuanced, informed, thoughtful review, and actually drives the hell out of the vehicle. Meanwhile Doug Demuro drives one of these onto a highway ramp at half-throttle because he's terrified and takes one corner at 15 mph and be like "fun factor is fine nothing special and I mean come on, it's a Lexus it's no McLaren, so it gets a 3/10."
Mark Levinson system is awesome. Its about music, instruments and clean mid-range. You guys most listen to modern music, overly processed,low-end heavy, tweeter maxed out stuff. The Levinson in the Lexus blows most high end system out of the water.
Yea highly doubt that. I have never got the chance to listen to any high end car audio systems, but the Mark Levinson system couldn't even compare to Burmester, B&O, Boston Acoustics, Bowers and Wilkins, and Naim.
Yet oddly enough, whether American, British, German or Australian, almost all reviews I’ve watched single out this audio system for special mention. I’m sure it’s up there with some of those you mention (most of which also have more budget systems anyway - the Burmester system in more affordable Mercs is very average, I can tell you from first hand experience)
After a while, it's a system integrated in a sports car. What would we want more ? But some quircks of the Mark Levinson system are excellent. It's true, the PMC's on my Accuphase chain sound splendid. But I have a special dedicated room for that. This is a car, and the fact that it's come so close is already a great result. Don't want to negate the concurrents though, that are doing a good job too. Whatever I'm enjoying to see music systems getting so good in cars nowadays.@@Jshawty13
These reviews are intricate, well-crafted, and ingenious in terms of content, delivery & flow. Also, this is one of a limited few that provided an unbiased insight of the Lexus RCF... Thank you Savagegeese for helping with my vehicle purchasing decision. Greatly appreciated
Your 'in the shoppe' bits are the absolute best. Hugely informative with shit you don't read or see, really anywhere else. The best. Plus, part of me likes to imagine you both being squished by a failing lift. Nothing personal... I think about the same thing anytime I get under a car as well.
Binge-watching SG reviews as background for work. The intro of this video, on my stone-age Panasonic 42 inch plasma, is the rulebook of how car review intros should be done.
I love watching your reviews they are so informative and the driving scenes are amazing. There is no other car reviewer out there like you. I can’t imagine how long it takes to edit it altogether. You take pride in your work and it shows! I can’t wait to see your review on the xc40!
I've watched this review 4-5 times just for the "in the shoppe" segment. This segment is purely unique and it helps by the perfect personalities hosting it. I wish the bright back ground didn't darken the undercarriage. Maybe some LED flood lights would help in the future should the weather conditions warrant it.
I bought an InfraRed RCF with the TVD and the carbon fiber roof. Amazing car. Very quick. Very comfortable. Only thing I miss is a touch screen for the entertainment system instead of mousepad-like input. The turn signals are hard to hear for me. Otherwise, no complaints.
Given how popular the LC500 is and underrated this one is, I'll definitely check the used market for this one. I see they're already in the $40k range. Plus I don't have to worry about something blowing up (given the M3/4 aren't going with a V8 any more and your misgivings on the E92), that makes it weirdly practical.
I really like your unbiased, thoughtful reviews. It's great to see a review not comparing this to every other car. Some people (myself included) couldn't give a shit less about which car is 'the best'.
I was in the market for a luxury sports coupe. M4 and Shelby GT 350R were at the top of the list. Test drove both cars and liked them both. Then I saw the RCF and test drove it. In the end, I purchased the RCF based on 1 premise, reliability. The M4 and Shelby GT 350R are cars I would love to lease. To own, not a chance.
+atonementpreset How would you compare your test drives, I would think the V8 would be enough to decide on Lexus over M4? How do you like the RCF so far?
I have to say, I absolutely love this car. So much so that I bought one just because of this video. I've taken it to thunder hill at 105F weather and it was eating cars like a monster. There were other European cars with an excellent pedigree that I was demolishing. It makes a rookie drive like a master. I don't understand why but it is impressive.
These are the kind of car reviews that i wanna see more of. More about the tech and less about subjective things like which looks better, which has more "personality" etc
Excellent quality and content by someone who is obviously a true auto enthusiast...thorough and professional on all levels bro..great work..I even listen to you review cars i have No interest in becuz you make ur reviews so very interesting..
Definitely one of the most underrated car review channels on RUclips - hard to believe you only have 30k subscribers! Excellent review. You said you would consider leasing this car, but what do you think about its reliability for long-term ownership as a daily driver? Considering an RC 350 but could stretch a bit for one of these (in the used market); I'm a little wary that it'd be a bit much as a daily and the V8 doesn't have as much of a track record as the bulletproof V6 in the 350. Would love to hear your thoughts!
+AlfredPGo The RCF is a far better car in terms of enjoyment and performance. It can be daily driven but of course your costs to operate are higher. The ISF that was out was very similar and very reliable but I would start researching problems owners had with it to know. Personally these modern motors and transmissions are vastly comlicated despite Lexus reliability, port and di, crazy vvti and programming. When things go south down the line its expensive no matter what car. If you bought one used Id go low miles and do 100k warranrty and see how it goes, if reliable hang on if not dump it
I’ve been seriously considering ordering one but I can’t commit because it doesn’t come in manual. It would be my first ever car that I bought that wasn’t manual and I haven’t yet been able to do it. I just really love driving stick. I can’t imagine having a daily that’s not. I have a work truck that’s automatic and that’s hard enough to deal with. I realize this isn’t a real problem.
Excellent review!! Very informative, a knowledgeable reviewer will raise a car on a hoist and talk about how it's engineered. I've always said a great car is determined from under it's skin NOT stupid tech and little sissy bells..whistle and gizmos like we hear about from so many other channels. This has to be the most complete Review i've seen. Savagegeese - SUBSCRIBED.
To answer Turbowski's complaints on why the manual shifting on the selector is "backwards", it dates back to the old auto trans selector patterns. Back in the days before manual modes, you had (from front to back) PRND321, or something similar. So if you went into manual range selection in the old days, pulling back on the lever put you into lower gears, while pushing forward put you into higher gears. When manufacturers started introducing manual modes, most of them kept that old layout of "forward=+, back=-" in order to avoid confusing the customer.
Great review, I really like your style of car review and that its not the generic RUclips review with dud step style music for a intro. Keep these coming
Love this car and I really really like your video. I will afford this car some day but for me right now I am buying RX F sport. Please I would love to see you behind the RX F sport soon and thanks for the lovely and hard word you put in these videos.
Great One 5oh3, please stop. I truly couldn't care less if the Lexus last 100yrs longer than a Ford. I'm a Serious Gearhead. I'd push the Lexus in this video into a lake to get to a Shelby GT350, & I'd set this Lexus on fire to get to a 350R Period!
I had the option to either split the payments on a 10,000 mile/yr lease for the lc500 and share it with my father as a summer car... Or lease this all on my own as a summer car... I thought I was stupid for liking this more than the lc500 when nobody agrees with me.. Well you showed me what I already knew I had in me.. I don't care who likes the lc500 better, this is the car for me. And I know what choice I'll be making now. Thank you so much for the great review!
Great review!! the best I've come across, since purchase this year. I have driven only 5,000 miles in mine since January (yes in the snow and some ice), though, I have clocked about 500 miles on a local track - fulfilling the goal of why i bought it. Mine is equipped with the TVD (opted out of the moonroof) which is great, especially when you start to use it aggressively to compensate for some of the understeer - pour on the throttle a bit earlier through a turn really rotates the car, I use the strongest setting of Slalom. I have some posted video (still working on my lap times but i did solo with SCCA this year and moved up to advanced with the Friday A The Track program. As a daily driver, i really enjoy it, the back seats work well for my 5 year old and a booster seat. The truck will fit two sets of golf clubs and some luggage. Finally, I live in the greater DC metro area and still have not seen another RC F on the street. I plan to keep it for a while longer!! Some track footage... ruclips.net/video/UBRA6Vvv3sI/видео.html
This review is so complete, honestly, this review made me make my decision to buy an RCF 2018 plus pack for 40k with only 7kmiles in the orange color I love it and going to collect it next week. I live in London and haven't seen RCF yet on the road I have seen a few RC 300h though.
I'm really trying to like the styling. I had a 92 SC400 (sadly a mangled wreck now) so I've got a spot in my heart for Lexus V8's....but I swear my 92 looked better.
Great review as always however I think this is one of the first reviews I see on the RCF that's overwelmingly positive... And I'm really surprised you didn't once mention its weight!! Did you get a chance to see the Chris Harris review? He didn't enjoy it much on the track...
+KingCobra Its not a car that does sideways well. Namely with the TVD which by design is there to always keep the power down. Take a look at one of the Fifth Gear episodes where they pit it against the M4. The RCF and GSF are almost identical in terms of track performance and its very good and fast to drive. But on the street it has Lexus reliablility and quality which is great for someone who buys it to drive often.
The blue colour is the only one I & others really like & it seems to be the most rare one for no reason. Especially on the carbon edition, the blue is the best colour. They are all white or black, the white is too bold especially with the black carbon roof & hood but the black hides the styling too much & hides the carbon parts on the carbon edition too much.
what a review thank you and I will buy this. And thank you for not comparing this with any other car. Like I said before you are different and you got class.
I like the way the car looks and sounds but many reviewers say the big knock on the RC F is the weight which takes away the performance of the car. 467 HP is a lot, but I believe this car also weighs roughly 4,000lbs.
+savagegeese He is right Motor trend reviews are bias and subjective . You talking about whats important and you stay on topic and you appreciate the car in its own right and don't get to comparing it to another model which takes away how good the car is on its own. Your reviews come off more mature and serious where Motorend reviewers are like comedians making jokes and down playing good cars.
+savagegeese your reviews are what auto journalism needs. The fact that I'm watching this with you underneath a car shows a lot. Keep this up, don't change.
I love this guy's reviews. I totally disagree with the infotainment center comment as Lexus system is the best in the business. A manual would make a great sidekick here but it wouldn't fit the demographic for this car. Ironically this is an I.T. professional , Supertechnonerd auto.. Perfect for guys like myself who decompress on the way home with some v a p o r w a v e, and a rockstar.

How tall are you? I been in a isf and gsf but never in the rcf, I’m wondering if I would be okay to fit, I’m 6’4
I'm 6'5" and about 227lbs.
The Lexus front design language fits the RC-F so well. It looks so mean but so sharp
I like this guy's videos. His personality (and his mechanic friend) really makes his channel unique.
Then do what I do. When he goes "..and now here's the doug-score.." just skip
Do what I do - don’t watch Doug lol
I know doug absolutely dislikes Lexus and it’s very clear he’s BMW/Euro biased unless it’s the LC or LFA
After watching your review several times I went out and bought a CPO 2016 RC F. Thank you. Keep up the great work!
Play some hans zimmerman on this car and fall in love
@@Jshawty13 B&O lmao... dude dont make me laugh
Shoppe is where we are headed.
+theminkowskitensor Haven't dropped one, yet!
Aww,awesome ,Scott even replied back to you man!.Hi Scott ,like your accent, from all the way in Australia!
Your reviews are solid homeruns, you need a million subs.
Binge-watching SG reviews as background for work. The intro of this video, on my stone-age Panasonic 42 inch plasma, is the rulebook of how car review intros should be done.
Lexus is killing it with all the new designs. I dont have the money to buy them now but one day man...it gonna be a lexus for me
These are the BEST car reviews on youtube.... actually the best anywhere!!
Maybe some LED flood lights would help in the future should the weather conditions warrant it.
just bought the Lexus RCF full carbon fiber one earlier this month...worth every godamn cent I spent on this car....btw...awesone review guys...
+Hallo Thar nice man, congratulations on getting yours..but your carbon fiber is only on your roof?
How about lc500 or rcf? Help me out please
THis is the best car review that I have seen in a long time. I actually just called to set up a test drive one of these.
How do you like the RCF so far?
that joke for the 5 horsepower for the mazda 2 is killing though
24:34 "This is so much power you can't use this on the street."
Texan: Hold my Shiner Bock.
I wanna punch my self to death when I try to use the infotainment system on my newer Lexus...
crazy to watch how much you've grown as a reviewer and videographer. RCF is a beast!
I wish they would’ve used the normal gauge cluster from FSport models. The small speedometer is useless when the digital one is present.
Damn, amazing review... I was torn between the S5 and this....I'm going with the Lexus.
+mindcrime2010 Try and drive them both back to back. Totally different cars but the V8 in Lexus is hard to beat.
How do you like the car so far?
Finally, someone else on the internet that shares exactly my same thoughts on this car. Well said and thanks for a great video.
34:20 "I would lease the shit out of this thing" thats the best line ever lol
I vote best line for: "I can fit my blowup dolls back here"
@@warrenny: Too Bad NO Room in Back Seat for An Adult,3 Rd Person Would Have To Ride IN TRUNK!! LOL
Amazing detailed review! Enjoy all your videos! One day, I’ll go from Q50s to RCF... Til then your video will do.
Bought my RCF last monday 😋😋😋 yayyyyyyyyyy 🥳
Deserves way more views for the impeccable quality. Thank You!
+zizousama Thanks glad you appreciated it.
+savagegeese Being able to view content like yours is a privilege, AND for free! This is just great. Wish you all the best.
Thanks again, free or not you still have to invest your time to watch it so glad you are enjoying it.
I have a GS-F & my brother has a RC-F amazing cars!
Subscribed due to this review, like a breath of fresh air on here.
If I showed your reviews to someone and told them it was Motor Trend or /Drive, they wouldn't doubt it for a second.
+Sam Stoner Glad it somewhat competes.
Love this car and I really really like your video.
I will afford this car some day but for me right now I am buying RX F sport.
Please I would love to see you behind the RX F sport soon and thanks for the lovely and hard word you put in these videos.
Nice review guys, seriously, best so far.. Thanks for showing us its belly... Who does that? hardly anybody... Who should? everybody... Great job.
CROSS-POTOMAC ONCE-MORE, indeed, but the review of the 16 Shelby GT350 is by far his best of 2016
Great One 5oh3, please stop.
Turbowsi was recently spotted having gelato with Jim Morrison and Elvis in Sao Paulo.
Some track footage... ruclips.net/video/UBRA6Vvv3sI/видео.html
this is the first car ive seen Scott actualy say anything good about...i might have to save up for this in the future
This review is so complete, honestly, this review made me make my decision to buy an RCF 2018 plus pack for 40k with only 7kmiles in the orange color I love it and going to collect it next week. I live in London and haven't seen RCF yet on the road I have seen a few RC 300h though.
I'm Surprised That You Don't Have A Million Subscribers, Considering This Kind Of Production Quality.....
I subbed at 25:28. I love his comment of "something switches...when you used to drive like an asshole to [driving responsibly]..."
Very good review. It covers everything from from mechanic structure, driving quality, performance... ect. Well done
I'm really trying to like the styling. I had a 92 SC400 (sadly a mangled wreck now) so I've got a spot in my heart for Lexus V8's....but I swear my 92 looked better.
Hell yea to the Nakamichi decks! I just gave my MBVI to my friend to put in his Nissan R32.
Love the deep dive review, nice job!
I wonder what the review would be like 5 years later, now that we've gotten used to 400+hp cars (Corvette C7, etc)
Props for Road America footage and + for the Packers cap.
Wish it was a bit smaller... like the SC 300/400 series although I think Lexus did improve with LC
your reviews are like watching a movie
Your videos are awesome and high quality. I'm surprised you don't have a million subs.
Maybe in 20 years! Hah thanks apprecite it.
Look at the infrared. Super rare too. I got mine with the carbon performance package. I wanted the blue but the red is a very very close 2nd.
what a review thank you and I will buy this.
And thank you for not comparing this with any other car.
Like I said before you are different and you got class.
great review. so true about the bit about trying to drive sensibly, because I am trying very hard to..
Awesome awesome awesome. You create and communicate the story of the car very well.
Please come visit Houston Texas so you can drive my fully bolted on RC-F. With Headers and an exhaust this car changes SO much. I'll pay for lunch!
I like the way the car looks and sounds but many reviewers say the big knock on the RC F is the weight which takes away the performance of the car. 467 HP is a lot, but I believe this car also weighs roughly 4,000lbs.
Unless you are tracking the car all the time… who cares?
Great review i'm looking into getting one
Do the blow up dolls fit in the trunk inflated, or do I have to deflate them?
i used to think scott wasn't much of a talker, turns out it was a mic issue, today he has one
He was promoted.
Why does the reviewer know more and talk more about the underneath components than the "mechanic"
+DoubleD 613 Who do you think taught the reviewer?
+Scott P dude u should do some videos also
What year is this?
0:43 what camera is that? That dynamic range is AMAZING!
Great review. I love all the technical info but turbowsky forgot to measure if the rear struts are 12inch!
One of the most beautiful color I have ever seen
This’ll never break, while anything German will destroy itself and your wallet as soon as the warrantee is out
I disagree with manual for the rcf .....like what Matt Farah said some transmissions don't suit some vehicles ...
Your reviews are better than motortrends.
Ha thanks but that's pushing it!
+savagegeese no it's not pushing it. You're that good.
+savagegeese your reviews are what auto journalism needs. The fact that I'm watching this with you underneath a car shows a lot. Keep this up, don't change.
28:39. Five years later, same feeling.
Lol stop vaping bro
+DreiZ I think he's referring to vaporwave music......
lmao bro i listen to vaporwave all the time in my rcf, glad im not the only one
bro give me some fire vaporware music
In the thumbnail is looks gorgeous purple and in this video blue. Thats why I always pick these colors.
Still waiting on that SS 1LE review
I see a savagegeese video, I like. No hesitations :D
Respect for u rewiew lot of info useful on decision making keep up the good auto rewiew.
