You don’t use ACETONE with Acrylic Airbrush paint it’s water based. I’ve been airbrushing nails for 30 years and if you buy the correct paints you don’t need to add anything however there are airbrush flow mediums you can add to make your paint thinner. It’s spraying ACETONE INTO THE AIR THATS THE BIG PROBLEM. I’ve never run acetone through my airbrush I have an airbrush cleaning solution and just water.
Totally understood. I have an airbrush paint set that wasn’t spray out at all so maybe I’ll try it with the water I tried with acetone and it still wouldn’t spray only the gel polish would come out. I’m gonna clean my airbrush and try with the water thanks 💞
Back in the day they definitely used acrylic paints. They also used to have a stronger airbrush machine too like the small industrial kind. Maybe that power helped push the paint through. I know I never saw them thin the paint. They just put it in and sprayed it on. These nails are beautiful by the way!!!😍😍😍
Thank you for posting this! I’ve been doing my nails on and off again since 2020 and I’m really pressed to learn the new design techniques so I really appreciate you posting this very trendy look. You’re the only one I’ve seen on RUclips that has done the aura with the hand painting that makes it look very abstract. I’ll be following!
Hey I don’t think that either is harmful I think it’s your choice I did a set with the gel polish and loved it. I also have a collection of acrylic paints and I am going to try it. Back in the day that’s all they used it the nail salon is acrylic paint and water mixed
It sounds like you are having a good time and your application is always beautiful. But I’ve been doing nails 32 years and airbrush has been around for at least 20. lol it’s just now coming back a little bit as all trends go through the wave. It’s nothing new. I will tell you crafting acrylic paint has been used in festivals and things like that for face & body paint, etc. I’m talking abt those little paint bottles from Hobby lobby, Michael’s, etc. can go on skin. Now if it’s because it can’t mix with acetone and go on the skin; that makes total sense. Acetone shouldn’t be on skin, period. We used to use acrylic paints to do designs on nails. We didn’t have gel pots we didn’t have gel polish. We used acrylic paint, and that was even up until a few years ago and now it’s coming back again where people are using acrylic paint to make designs. I don’t know about the acetone mix with the acrylic paint so I can’t speak to that but I can say acrylic paint by itself you can use that craft paint to make designs on nails. For one though, I don’t understand why people are getting the airbrush on the skin if they know what they’re doing, and if they don’t know what they’re doing, they shouldn’t be using it until they get more practice on a practice hand or another product to practice on. But before you did the black, and when you finished with the airbrush, it was absolutely a very pretty design. I like the black, but I don’t know, I like the design prior to that. But very very nice work as always.
Thank you so much for that. Yes I remembered my old nail tech using acrylic paint for design and I actually did not use my airbrush until I was comfortable with it. I tried with the acrylic paint in airbrush but it wouldn’t come out so now I know to dilute with water I will be trying it out soon.
I’m a newb and I have a question- you say the straight tips have longer wear and don’t need to be as thick, but I always heard that the c-curve tips are stronger and don’t need to be as thick with such a high apex…like basically the less curved the nail, the weaker they are. Is that correct or do I have that backwards? Love your content! ❤
Hey yes you have it backwards the more curved they are the less stable due to the curve. The straight tips don’t have to be as thick and last longer in my opinion yes. & c curve nails I don’t work with so I can’t say but I do have a client that has requested them so I will be trying them out soon 🥰

Hi. Do you have any recommendations on what brand for acrylic paint and thinner?
Back in the day they definitely used acrylic paints. They also used to have a stronger airbrush machine too like the small industrial kind. Maybe that power helped push the paint through. That makes sense 🥰 & thank you!
They sale airbrush gel polish on Amazon but I haven’t seen anyone on RUclips try them out. And they are really expensive as well.
