This is going to be a slam dunk for TR soloing and simul climbing like you said. Lighter and no way for it to lock open accidentally (without having to take a dremel to your $100+ microtrax). Also it's strange that only the Petzl Sm'D has the hole in it for a keeper cord yet Petzl says to use an oval carabiner for aiders, pulleys, trax, etc. I use the Sm'D for pulleys, GriGri, trax, etc. and it works great and aligns the trax with the spine just fine.

I agree it is alittle confusing. I still like to use an oval just to be extra safe and keep everything in the right orientation but I'm sure you could get away with using a Sm'D
