    Coincidentally I got the upgraded version of this myself a couple of weeks ago (goes up to 22 or 24 volts). Seems to work well but it is inconsistent - voltages moves up and down when plugged into one of my batteries and doesn't charge it very well. It might work better with lower voltages, but I haven't tried yet.

    • @TheSmokinApe
      @TheSmokinApe  Год назад +1

      I saw two versions the 12v which climes 10A and the 24v which claims 3A. I wanted to have enough juice to power a 10w radio so I went with the 12v. I think these are probably "fine" for powering things like PIs or Arduinos but I don't think I am keeping this around. I know some folks use them for the g90. Thanks for checking it out Jason.

  • @mistamuthafuka
    @mistamuthafuka 2 месяца назад

    I have used the 24V version for a long time at work. I use it for basic testing of equipment that comes into our warehouse without AC Adapters. Here are my notes:
    -The extender is actually a polarity reverse adapter
    - Turning it off cuts power output no matter what the display is doing
    - I haven't had any issues with the voltage drop while using gear which makes me believe your load is a CC
    - I have never attempted to use the power supply beyond its stated specs so mine has never smoked like that

  • @epakai
    @epakai 8 месяцев назад

    I love it. I got one of these too. The supplies are pretty OK, at least on the primary supply side. The secondary side was a bit beyond my understanding. The blinking is annoying, but it's just the primary cap winding down, and it's on the other side of the bridge rectifier so it shouldn't feed voltage back through the plug. It just slowly pumps the output up a few times until it is drained.
    The important point is this should have never been capable of 10A as it is built. You can't shove that through a barrel jack + adapter. Even at 5 to 7 amps I would expect those connectors to start getting warm. Swap for a better connector, or wire it directly to your load if you need that much current.

    Good review. The one that I received has NO UL or ETL SAFETY CERTIFICATION MARKING, which is a certification that is needed to indicate the product has passed safety testing by a Nationally Recognized Test Lab (NRTL). It could have been designed and tested to USA safety standards, BUT there are no identifying marks to show this. I use only power supply that are UL or ETL safety certified and listed.

    • @TheSmokinApe

      Well, the UPS was set to provide 12v and the current draw was set a the load. The voltage dropped because of a problem with the UPS not Ohms law.

    There is obviously a capacitor in the circuit that takes extra time to dishcharge under no load conditions and that, no doubt, is why it was slow to power down. Also, the voltage on the display doesn't mean much unless the supply is hooked up to a load, so the first part of the review doesn't tell us much of anything.
