Pretty sure May's song is about her love for Johhny that despite everyone telling her to get over it, Johhny included, she refuses to, so despite it still being weird, it's on her half and not Johnny's surprisingly
Is it really that surprising? I'd consider it more likely... I'd be more surprised if Johnny was into kinda bratty little girls (that's maybe too harsh, but hopefully you see what I mean) and May wasn't into a hot, mature, kind guy like Johnny... Young girls are known for obsessive crushes... I don't know, I think it makes perfect sense...

ok I feel like I need to say something in favor of good old Johnny. Yes, he adopted May and raised her. Yes, May is in love with him. But Johnny doesn't feel the same towards her, he loves her of course but he loves her like a daughter, which is how he also sees the rest of his crew. Johnny is egotistical and cocky, but hes not a pervert.
ah I feel bad, I definitely was no slandering Johnny in any way!! sorry if it came off that way - it was more the feeling towards the song and it's meaning after realising who may had feelings for! it's definitely very complicated but I didn't think it was reciprocated! thanks for watching :)
@@georgieegames Oh don't worry, I didn't assumed you were slandering the character or something like that and my comment was meant more as a clarification because is more than understandable to assume something bad at first glance when you see a sketchy looking dude surrounded by girls and one of them is singing about love, so sorry if it came out more aggressive or negative than what I intended. love your content.
Nagoriyuki is basically a vampire samurai, he was once saved and turned into a vampire by Slayer back when he was much younger and as a character he is pretty chill it just that Happy Chaos control him once His fighting style overall is also a bit more wild with a bigger usage of blood and vampiric ability while Slayer mostly brute strength his way through everything with the occasional bite
Nagoryuki, in the game, also had a mechanic where is he used certain abilities too much he will enter what's called blood rage, which a punishment for going too wild with your more powerful moves by losing half your health. It's a neat thing of story and mechanics
May has always been obsessed with Johnny but I don't believe he ever reciprocated the whole girlfriend thing, but she's still trying (As weird as that is)
About moment about commercial moment in Nago's theme: Nagoriyuki was sealed for some time, and for him re-integrate in new, deeply changed society is now actualy realy hard which also noted in these lines: "The world is strating to reject you, so what do you fight for" and sicne his a vampire, it also reinforced by next line "You deny your thirst, now its time to feast". I also reccomend to check out "Crawl". its arcade-mode boss theme and while basicaly could fit into character arc of every GG strive character, it fits more with Nagoriyuki.
Man, whenever I see someone reacting to Trigger and Giovanna, I can't shut up. I just love this character. A little bit about Gio: • Giovanna is the very first brazillian character in the Guilty Gear universe. As a brazillian myself: I really like her and I mained her when I played. She's really easy to use and very cool, although she gets a bit of the short end of the stick when it comes to lore, leaving a lot about her open to interpretation; • Giovanna's name was most likely based off prolific brazillian actress Giovanna Antonelli; • Gio's design sometimes leads people to read her as an black woman, an understandable misunderstanding, but in reality, she's way more reminscent of an indiginous brazillian character with traits from both blacks and whites, and in Brazil , that's called a "pardo" - the second biggest ethnic group inside of Brazil (45.3% of the entire population per last sensus), composed completely of people with mixed of at least two (but not limited to) different races; • Still about her design, she seems to be based off of another fighting game character - Vanessa, from The King of Fighters series, having a lot of similar nods and elements to Vanessa's designs, including the red hair. Although Giovanna uses kicks and acrobatics, while Vanessa is a boxer and relies almost exclusively on punches; • Gio's spirit companion, Rei, has it's design based off of what appears to be a Guará Wolf, a species of wild dog (Yes, it's not an actual wolf! Nor a fox) originally from Brazil's Mata Atlântica biome, located into the central and south eastern part of the country. When Gio and Rei combines, her skin turns green and her red hair turns her the almost spitting image of a brazillian fey entitiy known as the Curupira, the guardian of the rainforest, who has reversed feet, fire-red hair and green skin, completely able to turn into any animal it chooses, leading poachers away from the animals of the rainforest. It is one of the many, MANY, entities in brazillian folklore who is associated with being a guardian of the forest and it's denizens. • You were almost there when it comes to Gio wanting to be left alone. While we do not know much about her past, when she leaved Brazil to the US or why she did, it is shown that Gio's colleagues have a hard time dealing with her, and that only her boss, Goldlewis, manages to actually have a conversation with her. Probably, Giovanna's loneliness comes from herself. She has a pretty difficult to deal with personality. She's self-aware about it and uses her good looks and body to try and allure potential partners, but so far, she had a horrible luck with love and personal relationships aside from Goldlewis, who seems to be not just her boss, but also a father figure and her only friend. She tries to compensate her blunt, no bullshit and uninterested or uncaring personality with a strong sense of professionalism, becoming a role agent for the Secret Service (although she is seen as lazy or as a slacker), protecting the President of the United States. That also might be a reference to the Curupira that most likely inspired her, since as the Curupira is the guardian of animals and the rainforest, Giovanna is the guardian of the President. Gio has a soft spot for animals and children, and because she's self-aware, she tries to think very carefully about her words, and even so manages to come off as rude or agressive, which hints to Gio's lack of social skills. • Gio has shown to be quite blunt with what she wants, especially when it comes to her preference in men, being the character in the game with the biggest amount of unique quotes to a single character, and that character is Leo Whitefang. She does say that she's into him and she's quite agressive about it. •All of Giovanna's special movements are in brazillian portuguese and associated with the wind element, the sky or music. One of her specials is called "Sepultura", one of the most well succeeded metal bands in Brazil, and some even go as far as to say that Sepultura was the first Nu Metal band ever (Slipknot, Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit, as an example), although that is debatable, since Sepultura is more Death Metal than Nu. Her level 3 special is Ventania, the brazillian portuguese word for a windy storm.
About your question about vampires in the guilty gear universe, they're called nightless in universe and were once humanity biggest enemy but they've all basically gone extinct with the expectation of slayer and Nago. We don't know how the nightless went extinct canonically.
The heaven or hell playlist by woolie versus explains the lore far better than I can, so if you're worried my comment has inaccuracies about the lore I recommend watching that playlist

Giovanna is Brazillian, but works for the US Secret Service and is very competent despite her laidback nature. Her song is interesting because she is basically telling the listener in a laidback but polite fashion that she hates double-faced people, hates being made the center of attention, and that they need to "mind theirr own business" before she is forced to hurt them... well, that is how i interpret it May's song is about her determined, but one-sided love for Johnny. May as a kid fell in love with Johnny at first sight, but due to the circumstances of how they met, him being a fair bit older than her (and not a creep) he ignored her crush and treated her like a little sister. While May is an adult (21) in Strive, Johnny adamantly turns down her advances becauses he sees her and the rest of the Jellyfish pirates as family. Johnny and the rest of the pirates have told her to give up, but May can be quote stubborn when it comes to thongs she is passionate about - Unfortunately for Johnny, he's at the top of the list. Nagoriyuki is a really cool character. His lore suggests that he was a slave in feudal Japan that managed to rise up the social ranks high enough to become a samurai, only to have a chance meeting with younger Slayer as he was dying on a battlefield, and Nagoriyuki managed to convince him to turn him into a vampire. (Got a bit carried away) As for his song, it's basically talking about his feelings of being from a forgotten era after being awoken 200 years in the future, his struggle to contain his vampiric hunger, and his struggle to live in a new world that wants him gone Edit: A guilty Gear lore stream would be awesome! If yoy want one that's not 100% accurate but also funny, i'd recommend theRadBrad's "Guilty Gear racism tierlist" video
If you wanna cover Guilty Gear lore, I'd say your best bet for accuracy is WoolieVersus's Heaven or Hell series, which he actually made with help from the creator team, arcsystemworks. It covers everything from the first game all the way up to Strive, even including previously untranslated manuals, audio drama CDs, and even a pachinko machine, which are all canon where major events do happen.
So a little context for Giovana since you got most of it spot on. Giovana is a Secret service agent for the US Government (and yes this is technically a alternate reality Earth and America's still a thing). That said she's very lazy about her job and only really gets into action when necessary. With that in mind, the song's basicly about how she just wants to chill, but if you really wanna start something she's gonna "pull the trigger" on you. and by trigger she means her kicks and dog.
Something interesting as of late, Aisha the singer for May’s song and others in Strive, has started streaming herself playing Strive on twitch! Check it out sometime!
in Nagoriyuki's case he is a Nightwalker which is the vampire race of the GG universe and I believe the lines about technology and ai referred to how he was in a dormant state as some sort of statue for over 50 years and likely had to hear about all of the advancements in technology pass him by
A female android stuck on the moon that really wants to stay at your place is guilty gear strive's very first guest character, it's in the new season 4 teaser trailer. I reckon this is because of the Guilty Gear Strive: Dual Rulers anime coming out soon. Edit: It's supposed to be android-like with all the cyber enhancements and all. I acknowledge my mistake.
@@desperado3347 yeah, "cyborg" would be more apt. That being said, if you replace enough of a man with machinery, they're more of a robot than a human, so Android can become applicable
She's been a member of the pirates since she was a little girl though so it's not great. The games make it clear it's one-sided but I wish they'd move away from this and give May something else to do.
As others have said, Johnny doesn't reciprocate at all and the entire situation is kind of awkward for him since she's just his kid in his eyes. That said, I don't think May is super happy about the crush either - there's a lot of hidden frustration in Disaster of Passion if you look at the lyrics. I think May *also* knows that this crush isn't healthy and isn't realistic, and it's impacting the familial relationship she *should* have with Johnny. She just can't get over him and it's frustrating her because she's at the point where she doesn't *want* to feel this way... The silver lining if this read is actually true though is that this probably means she's in the process of moving on, one way or another, and hopefully we might see a May without these hangups in the future.
Also, the news reel read in Nagoriyuki's themesong is probably intended to sound like complete nonsense because one of Nago's central struggles is feeling like a man out of time. He *probably* dates back to feudal Japan and has spent a very very long time isolated and asleep before Happy Chaos dug him up, so he's missed a LOT of history and he's kind of racing to catch up and figure out how he fits into the modern world.
I just want May to have any kind of relevance in the story. They've been doing the May loves Johnny thing since the first game and not really much else. At least it's pretty funny that she canonically handles the finances of the pirates since Johnny can't hold on to money to save his life.
@@Renoistic With Dizzy coming back as a playable character, who knows, the next chapter of the Strive story may have her reconnecting with the Jellyfish Pirates. Might give May something to do in that case.
You Should Try: Out of The Box (Axl Low's Theme. He Has A Little Thing With I-no) Rock Parade (Anji Mito's Theme. He Knows Baiken) The Gravity (Asuka/That Man's Theme. He is the trigger for most of the things in this entire franchise (and also the ex best friend of Sol badguy) Hellfire (Leo's Theme. His Theme doesn't really reflect how he is usually seen (big Goofy King guy)
Just so you know, Nagoriyuki technically has 2 themes attributed to him. This one, what do you fight for, and the arcade boss theme, Crawl. He used to be the only boss in the arcade for a while so that’s why it was attributed to him, but it also fits him rather well.
Been loving following these reactions! I definitely recommend Like a Weed, Naturally, as a Matter of Course ( Testament's theme ) and Rock Parade ( Anji's theme ) when you can ❤
Hey I just wanted to say I love your Guilty Gear character theories! I have yet to see someone who was able to spot on understands characters like Bedman or Nagoriyuki just from the song and the AMV!
Goldlewis and Giovanna's songs are both "I guess I just have to do my job." "Bark and Bark, its a vacant urge." I am a dog for my employer "I wanna just be a trigger" I don't want to think about the repercussions of my job and just want to attack where pointed Her song even says "I am just a cold metal", pointing toward her talking about a **literal** trigger. On a gun.
It's from the opening movie, not the story mode. But, the opening movie is essentially mostly about the story mode, so i can completely understand how you got your wires crossed.
About Nagoriyuki, or as how I'll refer to him from now, Nago: Nago is indeed a vampire, or more specifically, a Nightless. Nightless don't have a lot of vampiric weaknesses like the sun and stuff, but they do have the thirst for blood and infinite life of vampires. Nago himself was turned into a Nightless by Slayer in the 16th century, and sometime in the Crusades he was sealed away after helping Happy Chaos do a little trolling (war crimes) in those same Crusades. He was released by Happy Chaos a few decades later to help him take over the White House and steal the Tome of Creation, but was eventually defeated by Sol Badguy and freed from the spell of control that bound him. Since then, he's just kinda, wandered the world in search of a purpose, having to suppress his instincts as a Nightless due to not having the same discipline or luxuries as his sire Slayer. Nightless aren't actually a known factor in GG for most people, and for the longest time Slayer was the only living Nightless until Nago was unsealed, so there's not much of a public opinion regarding them. However Nago does struggle between human morality and honor, and his unnatural necessities.
Of all the base roster osts, Nagoryuki stood out to me cause of how the opening riff and verse sounds a bit like "Come Together" by the Beatles except a bit sped up
Slayer and Nagoriyuki are the only vampires we know of in the Guilty Gear universe, though their in-universe name is a 'Nightless'. When Sol first meets Nago in the story mode, he remarks to himself, 'So that old Dandy isn't the last one..' Nagoriyuki does need blood to survive, but he is still disciplined and sporting in his search for it. He only engages opponents who are willing to fight him, so he can fuel his bloodlust in a 'moral' way.
I like to think that "Trigger" is about misdirection. She's putting up an image of I'm super chill, no big deal, nothing to see here. But then, she pulls that trigger and wrecks up the place. That's just a surface level take, but it seems to fit Giovanna's presentation. And she looks like she was imported from King of Fighters and given a ghost dog to fit in, and I like that part.
Please do the whole roster these are so fun to watch, your ability to piece the lore like 95% correctly from song and vibes alone is genuinely impressive to watch. Also a lore video would be cool to watch!
I think it’s less that Giovanna is a “lone wolf” who pushes people away, but rather that she just wants to chill and refuses to conform to her job “I, do I”. She’s a secret service agent, and when we’re introduced to her in the story mode she’s taking a nap on the roof of the White House and her senior officer comes to lightly scold her.
You were 100% right when you commented that Nago looked like he was trying to resist something. He was turned into an unwilling servant to Happy Chaos and to fight on his behalf after being reawoken and very much wants absolutely nothing to do with Happy Chaos' machinations or being turned into a villain for his amusement.
Trigger is something that took me a few different reactors vibing with to learn to enjoy. Now i can totally be down with the goofy beasty boys impression tone.
You were spot on for nagoriyuki he was turned into a vampire by a man named slayer back in like the 1400 or something he was then BURRIED UNDER A BUILDING for hundreds of years he then got unburied by happy chaos and ino because his sword was able to suck the life out of his opponents making it so that ppl like sol couldn't just regenerate but nago is a good sir of society so he refused to fight the main crew but he was then mind controlled by happy chaos into doing it anyway thats why he is fighting the good guys
Ok, to be fair. When Johnny adopted May, Japan was literally turned into a huge hole in the ocean, and she was living in a makeshift colony that was mostly made to separate Japanese people from other nations.
I'm gonna talk about May first because Giovanna and Nagoriyuki are both newcomers to the series who debuted in Strive, and I wanna give you the chance to learn about them firsthand if that's what you'd prefer. May tho, she's one of the originals from the first game. Johnny's whole goal with the Jellyfish Pirates is to give a home to the orphan girls he comes across during his travels, and that all started with May, who as of Strive is around 22-26 btw! But yeah she was lil baby when they first met. Mays crush on Johnny is one-sided. Johnny loves her, but only as a daughter, and he seems either oblivious to or uncomfortable about her feelings, but he'll still do absolutely anything to protect her. May is also one of the few Japanese people left in the world after Japan was completely destroyed upon Justices awakening. The lore around the remaining Japanese gets pretty complicated. She also inexplicably has super strength to the max lol, she swings her anchor around like its nothing, and she's displayed other crazy feats in the story too. Also I ship May with Bridget and you totally should too :3 Giovannas lore is limited for now, but she was born in Brazil into poverty, but somehow managed to claw her way into the US secret service where she's now making a good living. If Slayer and Nagoriyuki are vampires, then you can consider Gio to be something of a werewolf, with her wolf spirit named Rei. She's got strength snd discipline in spades, but despite her effort to be cordial she's not the best communicator in the world, but she's still pretty chill. When Johnny got added to Strive she was part of his arcade mode story, where it's revealed that you knew her in the past, and he spent the arcade mode trying to recruit her, and then he goes back to thr Mayship and May gets super jealous lol. Nagoriyuki is a vampire, and he also got some more story content from Slayers arcade mode when he was added. It's now confirmed that Slayer found Nagoriyuki moments from death, and turned him into a vampire to save his life. A lot of details seem to imply that Nago might be Yasuke from Japanese history. Either way, Slayer trained Nagoriyuki but then at some point they parted ways, and a long time later Nago fell victim to the menace that is Happy Chaos. During the story of Strive, and during some events in the 100 years prior, Happy Chaos had Nago under his control, forcing him to be the muscle behind his scheme, but Nago managed to slip out from his control at the end and helped the heroes save the day. Since being woken up from his slumber, he's been feeling like an outcast with no place in the world, with no fellow vampires in sight, but one by one many of the playable characters sought out or ran into him and many of them showed him sympathy, and Chipp, Anji and Baiken in particular even seem to be friends with him now. He also seemed to be a lot happier after reuniting with Slayer too. through it all, he seems grateful to have been given the chance to witness nearly 1000 years of history with his own eyes.
Since Dizzy and Venom were announced for Season 4, how about listening to some of their older themes before they come out? "Awe of She" and "A Solitude that asks Nothing in Return" are their themes.
I think when Giovanna's song says she's a "trigger" it means she just gets stuff done but doesn't involve herself further than that. Basically nothing personal
Regarding May's feelings for Johnny, I can only give the same example I give to other friends I have explained that complicated relationship to. You noticed how young she was when he rescued and adopted her. It isn't uncommon for girls that age to have no actual understanding of non-familial love. I.E. if you've ever heard a very young girl say "I'm gonna marry my dad when I grow up" and all the adults just kind of chuckle and say "sure you are". May just kinda... never grew out of that phase. "Johnny saved me, there can't be any guy better than him!" Yet she still remains, in his eyes, that young girl he found orphaned all those years ago.
Nagoriyugi's story is actually really interesting. Slayer was the one who turned him into a vampire hundreds of years ago after he died during a battle. Nagoriyuki and Zato-1 are both devout follower's of Dandyism (slayer's little life philosophy fan club about being snazzy). Unfortunately for him he does not have an imortal wife like slayer that can give him infinate blood, he rely's on his own self control to resist his thirst for blood and goes years without blood, drinking only from those who he defeats in battle. His song is about his inner termoil as he wonders if he is really fighting for justice or if its just an excuse for him to get blood. His gameplay reflects this as he has extremely powerful "blood moves" that can combo really well but if you use them too much you'll go into blood rage, draining half your healthbar and locking you out of his bloodmoves until its over or you are able to drink the opponent's blood. Side note: That scene you talked about was from the story mode where Happy Chaos takes control of Nagoriyuki and uses it to attack Sol and Geovana. The song Crawl is about him trying to escape the mind control and is also a banger
Are you gonna check out more Guilty Gear soon? They released the latest character about a month ago and I think her song is right up your alley. I rly enjoyed your other Guilty Gear reactions I'd love to see you get thru all the character themes eventually
extremely quick descriptions Giovanna: Government agent who is super laid back (we don't know much about her yet I'm gonna be real) May: member of the Jellyfish pirates who really loves Johnny (as others said Johnny basically adopted her so he doesn't feel romantic feelings towards her at all cuz that would be even weirder) also carries around a comically sized anchor and whacks people with it Nagoryuki: immortal vampire samurai who challenges people to honorable duels to get the blood he needs instead of just drinking it from random people (lived for a long time but a good portion of it was spent dealing with happy chaos' shenanigans)
I would love to see you react to chapters of the strive story mode, although the animation is a bit janky and it may be a bit long but i would enjoy seeing what you think of it. The story mode is like a 5 hour movie spilt into chapters btw
Rei's lil forehead design is a little play on symbology. It's supposed to look like a recycle sign when in reality it's just Rei bein' all "Pet me there and do not stop." Like some sorta pet cycle.
I'm not that into the lore of the game, but my interpretation of Gio's song's chorus is that she wants to just be a "trigger for the government's gun" metaphorically, like just do her job and be left alone. She works for the Secret Service of the US government.
May is young, but not quite as young as she looks. I think it's been confirmed somewhere that she's in her 20s. And yeah, Nagoriyuki is 100% a vampire.
I know a bunch of people are itterating that May’s love is one-sided, I also want to add that throughout the song she makes it clear she knows it’s weird. Like there’s a large part of her that wants to stop having these feelings for Johnny, hence the Disaster in the name of the song
May is madly in love for Johnny but Johnny sees her and the rest of the Jellyfish Pirates as family and nothing will change that, so May is on friendzone² forever
The thing with May and Johnny i s weird, but it starts feeling way less weird when you know Johnny doesn't reciprocate that kinda love It feels to me kinda like a teenager fawning over a celebrity or sumn, cuz Johnny do be a badass
Fun fact Slayer is that the one and no go to Yuki's teacher tell him the way of dandy as an a turn no hey Google Yuki into a vampire in Yuki hates being a vampire so is he want to be defeated in battle as a samurai check out the arcade story
Giovanna isn't necessarily a lone wolf she just doesn't want to mix professional life(security guard at the fucking white house bc guilty gear) and personal life. She also wants a husband. That's it that's the character
Vampires in Guilty Gear are the closest thing to god like beings without just being someone like Happy Chaos the original founder and master of magic that nerfs himself by using guns because he would literally just kill almost everybody with little effort and that just wouldnt be fun. GG vampires are like glitches in the world and almost impossible to actually kill. 2hoch plays into Slayer losing a match in game as just casually lying down like hes ready to read a book rather than being passed out because he knows its no big deal and would rather just kimd of enjoy the moment. Bedman the original is one of the few to beat Slayer in a fight purely by surprise of how powerful he was for just being a human psychic so for a rematch he literally did the shonen protagonist move of putting in a good 20 percent of his actual potential for a fun fight. While not being nearly on the same level as Slayer, Nago is by GG vamp accounts still no joke. Sol accidentally pretty much vaporized him by trying to hold him back and interrogate him mid fight regarding Happy Chaos and he came back later looking no worse for wear as if he just needed a breather after getting nuked point blank.
The disaster of passion is about may's love for johnny just like you guessed but its more about how everyone but may thinks her love for johnny is WEIRD ASF (including johnny) the first part of the song is actually may repeating advice from her peers on how to not be in love with her adoptive father. May is weird man
I feel like I am alone with this dut the themes of Gio (and Sin) are the only ones that I dislike In Gios case it's because of the voice The text is really good and Gio would definitely say that but not in this kind of voice

That will never stop the hilarious jokes involving your child already being gone if you hear his theme around a school
There was that time he tried to hit on Bridget while she was like 14, but that quickly fell through so he dodged a bullet... or a yoyo i guess.

She knows that it is weird an tried to get rid of these VERY STRANGE feeling but she couldn't get rid of them .
You REALLY should check out "Hellfire" if you haven't already, It's Leo's theme, and it's really good, and it goes really heavy on his character!
Absolutely, the theme of King Unga-Bunga is so good. Also adds a lot of context to his character.
Man, whenever I see someone reacting to Trigger and Giovanna, I can't shut up. I just love this character.
A little bit about Gio:
• Giovanna is the very first brazillian character in the Guilty Gear universe. As a brazillian myself: I really like her and I mained her when I played. She's really easy to use and very cool, although she gets a bit of the short end of the stick when it comes to lore, leaving a lot about her open to interpretation;
• Giovanna's name was most likely based off prolific brazillian actress Giovanna Antonelli;
• Gio's design sometimes leads people to read her as an black woman, an understandable misunderstanding, but in reality, she's way more reminscent of an indiginous brazillian character with traits from both blacks and whites, and in Brazil , that's called a "pardo" - the second biggest ethnic group inside of Brazil (45.3% of the entire population per last sensus), composed completely of people with mixed of at least two (but not limited to) different races;
• Still about her design, she seems to be based off of another fighting game character - Vanessa, from The King of Fighters series, having a lot of similar nods and elements to Vanessa's designs, including the red hair. Although Giovanna uses kicks and acrobatics, while Vanessa is a boxer and relies almost exclusively on punches;
• Gio's spirit companion, Rei, has it's design based off of what appears to be a Guará Wolf, a species of wild dog (Yes, it's not an actual wolf!
Meu deus quanta coisa, eu não sabia nem da metade das coisas que tu disse aqui, agora eu gosto bem mais dessa personagem
Rapaz, você é muito fã da Gio.
Due to other GG fan's requests, I added the Arcade Ending theme (The Name of Heaven), the Story Ending theme (Talk About You), and DLC Ending Theme (Rock and Roll, Rock hard Maniac).

Giovanna is Brazillian, but works for the US Secret Service and is very competent despite her laidback nature. Her song is interesting because she is basically telling the listener in a laidback but polite fashion that she hates double-faced people, hates being made the center of attention, and that they need to "mind theirr own business" before she is forced to hurt them... well, that is how i interpret it
May's song is about her determined, but one-sided love for Johnny.
(Got a bit carried away)
As for his song, it's basically talking about his feelings of being from a forgotten era after being awoken 200 years in the future, his struggle to contain his vampiric hunger, and his struggle to live in a new world that wants him gone
Edit: A guilty Gear lore stream would be awesome!
Check it out sometime!
in Nagoriyuki's case he is a Nightwalker which is the vampire race of the GG universe and I believe the lines about technology and ai referred to how he was in a dormant state as some sort of statue for over 50 years and likely had to hear about all of the advancements in technology pass him by
The guilty gear lore is crazy
A female android stuck on the moon that really wants to stay at your place is guilty gear strive's very first guest character, it's in the new season 4 teaser trailer. I reckon this is because of the Guilty Gear Strive: Dual Rulers anime coming out soon.
Edit: It's supposed to be android-like with all the cyber enhancements and all. I acknowledge my mistake.
she isnt an adroid, she just has some cybernetics just like literally everyone in the cyberpunk universe
@@desperado3347 yeah, "cyborg" would be more apt. That being said, if you replace enough of a man with machinery, they're more of a robot than a human, so Android can become applicable
android? she isnt an android
She's more of a person with some cybernetics than an android I think. But she is indeed on the moon and really want's to stay at David's place
asuka found her on the moon and started podcasting with her
yeah may is definintely a strange one, luckily johnny doesnt seem to reciprocate those feeling at all.
Despite her appearance May is 22. So it’s more just a one sided love than anything creepy
You Should Try:
Out of The Box (Axl Low's Theme. He Has A Little Thing With I-no)
Rock Parade (Anji Mito's Theme. He Knows Baiken)
The Gravity (Asuka/That Man's Theme. He is the trigger for most of the things in this entire franchise (and also the ex best friend of Sol badguy)
Hellfire (Leo's Theme.
"Disaster of passion" is a pretty accurate title when you start looking into mays backstory huh.
Goldlewis and Giovanna's songs are both "I guess I just have to do my job."
"Bark and Bark, its a vacant urge." I am a dog for my employer
"I wanna just be a trigger" I don't want to think about the repercussions of my job and just want to attack where pointed
Her song even says "I am just a cold metal", pointing toward her talking about a **literal** trigger. On a gun.
The scene with Nagoriyuki and Happy Chaos is from the story mode of Guilty Gear Strive, which is basically a 4 hour movie with no gameplay.
It's from the opening movie, not the story mode.
But, the opening movie is essentially mostly about the story mode, so i can completely understand how you got your wires crossed.
@@arkdetective yeah, I'm not a GGS connoisseur...
@RuzPav hey, no worries, dood. I'm just happy to help.
About Nagoriyuki, or as how I'll refer to him from now, Nago:
Nago is indeed a vampire, or more specifically, a Nightless.
Im just wairing doe you to react to Testament's theme: "Like a Weed, Naturally, As A Matter Of Course"
Of all the base roster osts, Nagoryuki stood out to me cause of how the opening riff and verse sounds a bit like "Come Together" by the Beatles except a bit sped up
Don't worry, Johnny's as weirded out by it as everyone else.
Slayer and Nagoriyuki are the only vampires we know of in the Guilty Gear universe, though their in-universe name is a 'Nightless'. When Sol first meets Nago in the story mode, he remarks to himself, 'So that old Dandy isn't the last one..'
Nagoriyuki does need blood to survive, but he is still disciplined and sporting in his search for it.
Nago actually has two themes the second one being crawl the arcade boss theme
Please do the whole roster these are so fun to watch, your ability to piece the lore like 95% correctly from song and vibes alone is genuinely impressive to watch. Also a lore video would be cool to watch!
How are you so spot on everytime with the meanings? That's crazy
I think it’s less that Giovanna is a “lone wolf” who pushes people away, but rather that she just wants to chill and refuses to conform to her job “I, do I”. She’s a secret service agent, and when we’re introduced to her in the story mode she’s taking a nap on the roof of the White House and her senior officer comes to lightly scold her.
in case you’re interested, nagoriyuki has a second theme called “Crawl” which is his boss theme from strive’s arcade mode.
Eyyy more Guilty Gear reactions!!~ 😄
Guess no more GGST reactions for us? Sadge
But thank you for checking it out anyway. Glad you're enjoyed the music!
Ok, to be fair. When Johnny adopted May, Japan was literally turned into a huge hole in the ocean, and she was living in a makeshift colony that was mostly made to separate Japanese people from other nations.
Gio’s theme is so groovy I can’t stop listening to it. Definitely one of my favorites
Also I ship May with Bridget and you totally should too :3
Giovannas lore is limited for now, but she was born in Brazil into poverty, but somehow managed to claw her way into the US secret service where she's now making a good living.
This game's story mode is just a movie. You can certainly find it if you want to know what's going on.
Since Dizzy and Venom were announced for Season 4, how about listening to some of their older themes before they come out? "Awe of She" and "A Solitude that asks Nothing in Return" are their themes.
The four I most want to see next are "Roar of the Spark", "The Gravity", "Hellfire", and "Like a Weed, Naturally, as a Matter of Course"
Nago might be the coolest new fighting game character to come out in the last twenty years, damn.
You have my gratitude for reacting to more guilty gear themes, for the next time can you please react to Testament, Axl and Leo
Once you find out her relation to the person the song is about, the name "Disaster of Passion" takes quite a literal meaning haha
:) soon hehe
@georgieegames heck yeah
As if it wasn't cool enough that Nagoriyuki is a black samurai with a cyberpunk mechanical mask, he is also a vampire.
extremely quick descriptions
Giovanna: Government agent who is super laid back (we don't know much about her yet I'm gonna be real)
May: member of the Jellyfish pirates who really loves Johnny (as others said Johnny basically adopted her so he doesn't feel romantic feelings towards her at all cuz that would be even weirder) also carries around a comically sized anchor and whacks people with it
Nagoryuki: immortal vampire samurai who challenges people to honorable duels to get the blood he needs instead of just drinking it from random people (lived for a long time but a good portion of it was spent dealing with happy chaos' shenanigans)
I would love to see you react to chapters of the strive story mode, although the animation is a bit janky and it may be a bit long but i would enjoy seeing what you think of it. The story mode is like a 5 hour movie spilt into chapters btw
you are always on point, now thats a talent ToT
Rei's lil forehead design is a little play on symbology.
It's supposed to look like a recycle sign when in reality it's just Rei bein' all "Pet me there and do not stop."
Like some sorta pet cycle.
I love how everyone immediately went to the comments to defend Johnny lmao.
And yeah Nago is a vampire samurai, its so fuckin cool
I'm not that into the lore of the game, but my interpretation of Gio's song's chorus is that she wants to just be a "trigger for the government's gun" metaphorically, like just do her job and be left alone. She works for the Secret Service of the US government.
I'd love to see you react to Testament's theme! They're so cool and their theme is even cooler imo
Giovanna ❤
Nagoriyuki has another theme (his arcade boss theme), Crawl. Which I personally think is even better than What do you fight for :)
May is young, but not quite as young as she looks. I think it's been confirmed somewhere that she's in her 20s.
And yeah, Nagoriyuki is 100% a vampire.
You absolutely need to listen to the theme of King Unga-Bunga (Leo Whitefang) ; Hellfire.
I know a bunch of people are itterating that May’s love is one-sided, I also want to add that throughout the song she makes it clear she knows it’s weird. Like there’s a large part of her that wants to stop having these feelings for Johnny, hence the Disaster in the name of the song
Now that Dizzy is out you can do a reaction to the entire royal family! (Ky, Sin and Dizzy)
May is madly in love for Johnny but Johnny sees her and the rest of the Jellyfish Pirates as family and nothing will change that, so May is on friendzone² forever
May's actually got an anchor for a weapon. You can google yourself how much an average anchor weighs tho...
So Nagoryuki kinda has 2 themes: What Do You Fight For, his normal theme and Crawl, his arcade boss theme
The thing with May and Johnny i s weird, but it starts feeling way less weird when you know Johnny doesn't reciprocate that kinda love
It feels to me kinda like a teenager fawning over a celebrity or sumn, cuz Johnny do be a badass
guilty gear strive lets go!! the 45 dollars album that even comes with a game. Every song is a banger
Another thing is that Nagoriyuki hase 2 themes one being What do you fight for and the other one Crawl
Johnny just sees May as a daughter, May has a super crush on him. Weird writing decision but it gave us Disaster of Passion so
Fun fact Slayer is that the one and no go to Yuki's teacher tell him the way of dandy as an a turn no hey Google Yuki into a vampire in Yuki hates being a vampire so is he want to be defeated in battle as a samurai check out the arcade story
Giovanna isn't necessarily a lone wolf she just doesn't want to mix professional life(security guard at the fucking white house bc guilty gear) and personal life. She also wants a husband. That's it that's the character
Ever checkout character voicelines or intro/outros and taunts?
New guilty gear video yipeeeee
I think Leo theme hellfire is a really good one to check out
you will love crawl
Trigger is my new favorite Beastie Boys song
Well everyone explained May’s feeling so how about I make it weirder she’s Johnny’s daughter figure and she knows and still tries to
I can't wait for Crawl
Perfect timing, just ran out of videos to watch
My boy johhny catching unjust allegations.
DO NOT SLANDER MY BOY HE IS INOCCENT
The disaster of passion is about may's love for johnny just like you guessed but its more about how everyone but may thinks her love for johnny is WEIRD ASF (including johnny) the first part of the song is actually may repeating advice from her peers on how to not be in love with her adoptive father. May is weird man
May is 22 years old it's fine lmao
Yaaaas
PLEASE react to testaments theme. i love them
So ggst video once per 3 month?
Splash Splash Splash.
I feel like I am alone with this dut the themes of Gio (and Sin) are the only ones that I dislike
In Gios case it's because of the voice
The text is really good and Gio would definitely say that but not in this kind of voice
Hi
hello 👋
