@FloofyOneTorpheus Even just the way that's handled is so compelling. It's heavily implied, although I believe the news only mentions Rupert dying and not his family. It's like an eye for an eye, but once you hurt kids, you cross the ultimate line. The point of no return he was almost forced into for trying to do some good in the world. As a man, how do you not avenge your family by hurting the monster in the way they hurt you but in doing so becoming the same monster. We know he isn't a total monster cause if he was, maybe that little girl would not still be alive. It's complicated, but that's why it's so effective.
Totally missed them saying "along with his wife and 2 children." Thought they were going for more ambiguity than they actually were. Still super compelling.
Considering the timeline of events, I think he could legitimately claim to have been out of his right mind. He had just been forced to see his dead wife and child, been told he would be framed for their murder after coating his hands in their blood, and then was stuffed into a machine which irradiated him into a flaming green skeleton that could melt through walls. Not justifying him murking the kids by any means, but the fact that it was done in the heat of the moment after such a traumatic event does give him some room to redeem himself in my opinion.
@kitsunekage12 Exactly. I think that conflict is so compelling. The way he's punished by Thorne for skewing the data and how it escalates is executed so well in such little time. Like a steady stream of salt on a wound. I was wincing when Rupert made him see his family massacred. As he taunted him before atomizing him. All that trauma. Becoming a monster. Numbing the pain through crime. No excuse to hurt kids right, but it's like you can understand how and why he could do something that horrific. The father/husband in him telling him no and yes to revenge, simultaneously. Rupert in a way turned alex into a monster inside and out. I think how they portrayed him as this violent, almost wildcard up until the little girl who woke up in the middle of the night. He was worried she would give up his location, but he still didn't hurt her or her parents despite how gruesome we knew him to be. I think that was to tell us he still has some humanity left in there.
Listen, a skeleton incased with anything will always look cool, fire, radiation, steam/smoke, hell maybe even sand swirling beween the bones will always look cool. Just think about it.
I mean I can't imagine anything the future DCMU could have done with Thorm that they couldn't do with any number of other Gotham gang leaders like Penguin or Falcone.
It’s sad that phosphrous didn’t debut in Batman the animated series since throne was a crime boss and have linked phosphrous but lucky with got blight from Batman beyond who’s like throne/luthor became phosphrous.
I'm assuming for the same reason they waited to use Firefly until BTNAS. The powerset was probably deemed too graphic for kids. Would've been cool, but yes, thankfully we got blight.
This was awesome to be honest dr phosphorus was one of my favorite characters he was actually in a older Batman show called the Batman where he was originally Firefly i think it's so cool that this character is getting more love anyway i enjoyed the video so you just gained a new subscriber 😁👍
I remember that show, and I'm trying to rewatch it, so I'll be on the lookout for Dr. phosphorus. Glad you enjoyed and to have you here. Appreciate you watching 🙌
Thanks for making and sharing this cool video with me ! What I find funny about Eric while still disliking him is that HE PAYS A STACK OF $ to the pilots, and he got Flag Sr to the hospital, so he has a massed up honor code. I usually HATE any violence and death upon young kids in fiction, BECAUSE it happens way too much in real life and I do not wish it in my fiction that and sexual violence are my X cards in RPGs are played. But I think in this episode It's not just for shock value, and I was so terrified he would kill that girl, and I was so glad he did not.
Personally, I really enjoyed this episode. Alex's story is tragic enough, but to some extent it is natural. Well, like, what did you expect, working with people like Rupert Thorne, and even deceiving them? His wife told him right. However, this only makes the story more interesting and does not negate the fact that I really empathize with Phosphorus and love him as a character. And I like that, with all this, I can't even bring myself to call him an antihero, he's still more of an anti-villain. Well, that is, if an antihero is a hero with negative traits, then an anti-villain is a villain with positive traits. And I like that. I understand the desire to kill Rupert and his henchmen, it will be justified and perhaps even approved by me personally))) But like, Alex, you killed Rupert's children and wife too, the report made that clear. And then he became the drug lord of Gotham. No, my friend, go to jail. Well, at least thank you for not killing the girl in the end... As for other aspects of the episode, the moments with the Weasel were sweet) I also hope that Rick Flag will come out of his coma by the end of the season (that is, it turns out by the end of episode 7). And also the episodes with the courtesans, the bride and Nina - they were good because we also delved into the inner world of the Bride, looked at the excellent choreography, and the main woman was voiced by the magnificent Agdashlu Shohreh))) Good video, good luck!)
The thing about him killing the whole family is that there is some eye for an eye energy here. Killing children is obviously horrible. However I think he was actually insane. Like if you went through what he did you would do some pretty wild shit. So he could plea insanity in court
@the_scringus BIG eye for an eye energy. The internal conflict of wanting to get revenge for all the trauma you received and then also not wanting to participate in this extreme level of evil makes it so effective. I agree on the insanity plea.
“Most reasonable crash out in comics”
he still murked a kid, or at least implied that he took out the whole family. at least he redeeming himself

@@ComicConcept They litteraly say Rupert was found dead with his family.

@endobro-ym9vv When you're right, you're right 💀🔥
It doesn't even have to be aflame or anything, for example Sans.
@@Koc3813 maybe?, but he also has the eye thing so, idk

the song they played for his revenge was good also the scene with the little girl was adorable got a chance to have a small bit of humanity for a bit

Yeah, the morals these characters hold at the same time seem so opposite, but that makes everything so much more compelling.Thank you for watching 🙌
