9-ball player's game is only as good as his/her break, since at this level there are no poor runout-players competing. Watching Davis employ that amateurish breakshot and running out isn't historic to me. Fransisco plays his usual brand of winning 9-ball and that's pretty much it. Davis does have fantastic mechanics about his stroke though, after all he is 6-time snooker world champion.
Steve Davis has run 100+ balls in straight pool as well, not bad for a 6 times world snooker champ.
