@@infinite.destinations thanks. I actually live in the Kennedy Space Center area of Florida now, but I still have one brother and some friends who still live in Rochester. Looking forward to the Rochester video.
Hello from Poughkeepsie! Excellent drone footage! Albany has an impressive skyline for a city close to 100,000 people. I hope new buildings will be added.
Thank you very much!! Yes, it sure does. There's around a million people in the metro area and a decent amount that commutes to Albany city limits for work. That would be cool. Some nice new modern buildings could complement the old historical ones, kind of like how Philadelphia skyline is but at a much smaller scale.
Keep hoping. Buffalo is new York 's second largest city and it took em 45 years to build a tower 20 or more stories. 716 is exactly 20 stories. Pegula and Jamel pumped some life into the city. Is the old Statler Hilton's 19 floors occupied yet?
The Statler is still under construction but the developer is making some serious headway. As for new skyscrapers, not until the economy and market get stronger also need to defeat all the militant NIMBYs in Buffalo.

Such a unique and beautiful skyline with lots of historic architecture, especially the Capitol Building! My favorite capitol building in the entire country, thanks for sharing such an amazing video on a city that is rarely highlighted 😊
Albany is on the upswing in fact it’s population went back over 100,000 in 2020. Because it is the capital and administrative hub, the city has a stronger and more stable economy. Among upstate’s largest cities, Albany has the lowest urban poverty rate at around 22%. That is good compared to Syracuse, Rochester, and Buffalo and most of the state’s smaller cities and towns. Many people don’t know that Albany is the oldest existing settlement of the original 13 colonies.
According to albanyny.gov: Albany was first claimed by Henry Hudson for the Dutch in 1609 and was chartered as a city in 1686, making us the second oldest chartered city in the country. I looked it up - St. Augustine, Florida (1565). BUT (as you point out) St. Augustine was not an American, but a Spanish colony at the time.
Albany, New York, is the state capital. The 4 smaller buildings are agency state government buildings. The taller, more unique one is called the Corning Tower. That building houses the NYS Department of Health and the State Office of General Services.
It does have a fairly high crime rate, but not like the worst of the worst. If you avoid certain areas and be cautious at night, you should be okay. The same applies to other cities and surrounding suburbs nearby.
Wow! Albany's got so many big buildings in it now, compared to 1970, when my family moved from the Capital District to Rochester, NY.
Yes it has grown a decent amount since then, but I hope you are enjoying Rochester! Rochester video coming soon... 😃

If anyone knows, tell me what is located in these strange buildings at 3:15? Very interesting
