As to the topic of MRE’s and foreigners not liking them, what’s so hilarious, but also messed up, all through the 90’s and like late 80’s, early 2000’s also. Our humanitarian aid regions were an off yellow/sand color…and our scatterable mine munitions…used an off yellow/sand colored plastic casing, that was similar size and same color as the aid rations we’d drop into areas to help, even when invading them…then we’d drop scatterable lines that looked roughly the same, same exact plastic color….we finally changed the color of our aid rations, like 10-14 years ago…after maining and killing shit tons of people, including kids, all over the Middle East, cause they all thought it was more rations, run in there and pop, there goes feet, legs and arms and shit…finally someone higher up was like ya know, we should change those up…
The bit about jazz into ranting about NPR cracked me up. my favorite local station is an NPR jazz radio. mostly because i like jazz but it has no commercials, and i cant stand commercials. the station is all run by jazz musicians and music historians who know their shit. but yeah love it guys, keep up the good work.
One of my funny favorite things about Coast to Coast AM is that it featured in the original Prey. The original game by ... 3D realms, not the Bethesda title that later named so by Arkane dude to Bethesda forcing them to use it to keep the license. Which is a pity because Arkane Prey is a competent game too. because it's Arkane... or at least Arkane was good until Redfall but that's neither here nor there. It's more Dishonored Arkane. It played at intervals during the campaign giving you an insight on what's going on down on Earth while Tommy blasts his way through the sphere.
It was Art Bell himself, by the way. I miss Art. My old man would sometimes let us stay up to listen to it with him when I was a kid. And Later as an adult I'd listen in too. The only reason i don't turn it on my current overnight job is because I can't have a radio or headphones inside the warehouse. No one can.
Shit, not a gun smith or machinist, our company charges $95 an hour for fab/welding work. Our crane truck is $195 an hour, for just the truck, then the two guys, spotter at $95 an hour, operator at $135 an hour, 3 hour minimum charge. Service calls, $135 an hour, per guy, per truck, whether service truck, or small crane truck. And that includes drive time there and back. And we work in the dairy industry, and we are a bit cheaper than our competitors…and have better equipment and better service guys, we far out class them. In quality and capabilities.
The USMC digi both looked good and worked, the army. Navy and air force was stupid. Blend with nothing, or let them be inspired in the navy’s case, by eye. lol
the USMC camo was literally Cadpat. The USMC stole the design, made it desert colors and shoved an EGA onto it then claimed it was original. Then autisticly screeched at the DOD when the Army asked if they could use it because of the fuckery that occurred with the UCP program. The Army/AF one only sucked because the color, because company testing it only tested it in a lab (the theory behind it was solid, it just didn't work in real lighting conditions) and the officers in charge were basically taking bribes to not test it. look at dyed UCP. its actually SHOCKINGLY good. If units would have been allowed to dye it before deployments we honestly might still be using it.
TFW Tex's gunsmithing cost is only 5 bucks an hour more than a mechanic. And guns actually increase in value over time, unlike cars. You poor, unfortunate soul. TAKE MY MONEY!

My first job, I listened to a lot of Coast to Coast with Art Bell too. It was the perfect primer for hanging out on the Internet in the mid 90's

Yeah Art lent a gravitas to the game by playing a invasion game as straight as he could
